Cheers: Jimmy Kimmel Gets His Shot

Cheers to ABC for giving Jimmy Kimmel some well-deserved primetime exposure with his Game Night specials. Airing before the net's coverage of the high-profile Lakers-Celtics NBA finals, the half-hours mix big-name guests like Adam Sandler and Steve Carell with Kimmel's usual crew (Uncle Frank, Cousin Sal, et. al.). Hope this vote of confidence puts to rest the rumors that the network could bump Kimmel to make room for Jay Leno when he exits NBC next year. After five solid years of serivce — not to mention "I'm F---ing Ben Affleck" — keeping Kimmel should be a slam dunk.

I can't agree more, Bruce! As much as I always do (and always will) idolize David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel has been the most consistently funny of all the late night shows! I'm not a hoops fan at all, but I am tuning into the special Kimmel shows, and they have been a terrific showcase for what he and his team do best.

Normally, I don't like Cousin Sal's bits very much, but his few minutes with the stunt hoopster Sunday night were really funny (throwing the chair onto the court when he missed one shot! Hilarious!).

I thought just what you did about hoping this quiets the rumors that Leno could be lured to ABC. You never know, though. This is the network that bailed on Politically Incorrect when the going got tough.
