Jeers: CSI: Miami's New Showgirl
Elizabeth Berkley and David Caruso by Ron P. Jaffe/CBS
Jeers to CSI: Miami for ludicrously miscasting Elizabeth Berkley as the mother of Horatio Caine's creepy teenage doppelgänger. Just when she'd finally put the twin ignominies of Saved by the Bell and Showgirls behind her, the glassy-eyed actress delivered a performance so stiff and artificial, she made David Caruso (who's rapidly turning into the new Hasselhoff) seem like Daniel Day-Lewis. Speaking of surrealism, what was with the visual gimmick that made the entire episode look like it was shot inside a beehive? This show gets weirder every week. It used to be watchable; now it's the TV equivalent of the Miami Dolphins.

How many times did she put on and take off her sunglasses?
I am amzed this and CSI NY are popular. For all the Law & order spinoffs, at least they sustain so level of the quality of the mothership. CSI Miami is just so bad especially compared to the original CSI. David Caruso's "acting" is just so stilted and awful.

And does anyone find it extremely, extremely creepy that Berkley, who is 34 in real life, is playing the mother of a teenager by a man in his mid 50s. That would mean that they were involved when he was in his late 30s or 40s, and she was a teenager. Yuck. (And, no, I can't believe she's supposed to be playing older.) Yuck. Used to really like this show, but its so creepy, I don't care about these messed-up characters personal lives, and I get kind of tired of BRIGHT, BRIGHT, RICH, SHINY, YOUNG, GLOWY vics/perps each week. Utterly one-note, one very off note at that. Thank heaven for Medium.

I was thinking about the age difference last night too. I made the comment that while he was baring is pasty white butt on NYPD Blue, she was playing squeaky clean braniac Jessie Spano on Saved By the Bell. It's just to gross to think about The ShowGirl and Pasty Butt doing it.

IF YOU'RE TIRED OF THE SHOW DON'T WATCH! I'm so sick of you people complaining about every little thing. If you're so tired of the show turn the channel. Was it really that hard to picture Elizabeth as a mother. Hello she could have easily had the baby at 18 or 20. The boy is not an adult he's a teenager so it does work. This show is hellva lot better than any Law Order + spinoffs + Medium.

To Diva,
Girl, please get a grip. We're all allowed to have opinions. To echo you, if you don't like the opinions expressed, please don't read them.
I could have had a child at 9, to do so would have been creepy. For a man approaching middle age to copulate with a teenager is extremely creepy to me. And since Caine has always been presented as a caring, mature, good guy, I don't buy that he had a fling with a kid. That's not good writing and not in line with the characters we've come to know.
It's just another instance of TV and movies casting a lovely young woman as consort to some aging character. How often have you seen the reverse? Wouldn't it have been a thousand times more realistic to have his ex have been someone nearer his age, someone with the kind of intellect and ethics that he is supposed to possess?

I miss Speed. Le sigh. I'm one of the few people who actually likes David Caruso! But I haven't seen an episode since Rory left.
The interaction between Speed and Horatio was great, imo.
Bring back zombie!Speed.

What about robot speed. lol Seriously though doesn't anybody see the similarities here with Hawaii 5-0. David Caruso is Jack Lord! HA!! I can't help myself, I also like Caruso. He portrays the hardened law man who has seen too much, lived too much and has learned how to keep his sanity. (although we once in a while get a glimpses of a fragile psyche am I the only one who sees that?)

It's only a TV show, allowed the poetic license to create images that would not be likely in 'real life.'
As for those who are complaining about the show, and being told to turn the channel; WOW! I complain about my husband from time to time but I don't feel the need to trade him in. The show has become a bit weird. Perhaps we are complaining because we hope that someone, an actor, a producer, a director might actually see some of the comments and try to make adjustments. Afterall, if we don't watch, sponsors jump ship and shows get cancelled.
We don't want the show to be cancelled, just tweaked and perhaps backpedal to the earlier shows that showed Caine and the group spending more time actually doing CSI work and less time chasing the bad guys.

Where her eye always shaped like that or has she gotten work done? I know she is young, but her face and her eyes just did not look right. I think that the age thing was weird. She would have been really young when she had Kyle, and that was creepy.

I stopped watching this show a long time ago when i noticed that all the actors only wear one outfit per episode...implying that the crimes are committed, investigated, solved, and closed all in one day!! Think about it people next time you watch this show...nobody ever changes their costumes. One outfit per epi! That for me just made this WAY too unbelievable to watch anymore!

As I watched the miscast trainwreck that was Elizabeth Berkley I thought to myself "I'll bet TV Guide will give this a jeer tomorrow".
What in the heck were they thinking????

The show is wacked! A little less glamour and a bit more substance would be nice!
Okay folks do the math -
Horatio aka David Caruso = 52 Julia Winstone aka Liz = 35
Age difference = 17 years
HoCaine's son Kyle = 16 years old.
Haratio would have been 36 years old working undercover and sleeping with a 19 year old suspect = CREEPY!!!!

It is unfortunate that they have taken this show too high tech. When I was watching the court room drama what is up w/the judge sitting in what looked like he was on the deck of a star ship? And the music is annoying, when Delco was processing the evidence I had to mute that tech-no music, who is producing this show??? Horatio is getting stiffer and stifer each week, they need to let this man show some emotions!!! Its like the actors are lost in boring story line, they need to get back to shootem-up,arrest the bad guys instead of this soft crime stuff. This show used to have 2sub plots going at the same time, now its just become an evening soap opera. I hope they leave Elizabeth in there, but her role needs to be edgier. Like Gorman/Nicole on L/Order Criminal Intent, the cat and mouse chase between them was great.

It's just to gross to think about The ShowGirl and Pasty Butt doing it. Can't decide..... And maybe that butt was so bright, she HAD to wear shades?
