Jeers: To Bee or Not to Bee

Jeers to "N-Bee-C" for its incessant Bee Movie hype. I don't blame Jerry Seinfeld for wanting to promote his first big feature film, but did his former network need to devote so much airtime to his not-so-funny "TV Juniors" shorts? (I'm surprised they didn't get Jerry to host a special edition of The Singing Bee, too.) That said, I'm taking my kids to see Bee Movie on opening night, so I guess all the promos worked.

i think the bee's are hilarious. didn't know what they were for but i find them a lot better than watching commercials. i'm not fast forwarding.

They were pointless and unfunny drivel. Most commercials are funnier. God I hope the movie is better than those things.

I don't understand the hype behind the movie, but I really enjoy those TV juniors spots. Doesn't make me want to see the movie though

I didn't find the first Seinfeld Bee bit funny at all so I've sped past all of them. Seinfeld/David were magic together but separately I don't care for either one. I'll pass on the movie but I've been passing on cutesy mediocre animated films since I O.D.'d on them a few years ago.

Totally agree. Any interest I had in this movie is gone because I can't watch NBC without being overwhelmed with promotional bits for it. In addition to the commercials, we got Seinfeld on 30 Rock promoting the hell out of it and this weekend he's gonna be hosting TALK SHOW WITH SPIKE FERESTEN in place of Spike Feresten. I was really ok with just seeing Jerry on Seinfeld re-runs. And where's Renee during all this?

It actually worked in reverse for me. I now feel that I have seen this movie and don't want to see it again. Those things were annoying, just glad they didn't have any last night while watching the comedies on NBC.

I have no intention of seeing Bee movie. It just doesn't look good. I generally enjoy a good children's movie, but I have zero interest in seeing this and am sooo glad my child is no longer yough enough to be interested so that I don't have to drag myself to it.

I think the overkill on the marketing is quite telling too - this movie is going to bomb because it just won't be funny and they have to do all this promotion to salvage what they can.

I don't think the movie's going to bomb, but I do think it's overexposed. Then again, so is American Gangster and it'll have a big opening, too. I guess there's no such thing as too much publicity in a business where everything's geared to making as much money as possible in one weekend.

I'm tired of the hype, and I FWD through every TV Junior, but I'll still be taking my 4 year old to see the movie this weekend.

I love Seinfeld, but will happily wait to watch the movie on DVD with my kids. And American Gangster overhyped? Oh, contrare mon' frare... It doesn't get any better than Oscar-winner Washington and Crowe. I think it will be a solid movie, possibly winning an award or two next year.

How overpromoted is it? My 5-year-old sons are asking to see it. I couldn't pay them to see Ratatouille with Daddy, but they're obviously so bombarded with Bee Movie stuff, they're raising the topic in conversation. Oy.

Um, it's Au contraire, mon frère. It's french.

Clearly, Spider-Man doesn't speak French. Or else his name would be Araignée-Homme...

Trust me: the movie is no better than the "TV Juniors." (What does that name mean, anyway?) Seinfeld, after nine years out of the spotlight, is overexposed -- how does that happen? But Cheers to NBC's "30 Rock" for making fun of how powerful Seinfeld still is at the network. (Seinfeld: I might just buy NBC! Jack Donaghy: Oh? Do YOU happen to have $4 million lying around?... Oh, right.)
