Reader's Jeer of the Week: Karina Smirn-Off

Jeers to Karina Smirnoff of Dancing with the Stars for being so ungracious and unprofessional. Her constant eye-rolling and sighs made me cringe and actually root against her. Every other contestant and dancer seem to handle being in the bottom two with class and dignity. I think if anyone is to blame for Mario's departure this week, it's her.

I totally agree with this. She is always so negative and antagonistic that I never root for whoever she dances with. This boy Mario was actually sweet and starting to improve, but I just could not get on board with Karina's attitude every week. I didn't like her with Mario Lopez either. He was fantastic and yet every week I got such a strange vibe from her that I just couldn't root for him. I think the only time I actually liked a partner of hers was when it was Billy Ray and that was because he was so funny. She was still a pill.

I wholeheartedly agree! Her attitude has irked me for several seasons now. I honestly cannot wait for her to get eliminated. I call her Karina Smirk-off. She truly is the pillar of poor sportsmanship.

I especially noticed it the year that she and Mario lost and she boo-hooed and bitched like a spoiled brat. She and Maks are sore losers in my book.

I agree! She always has an attitude that is unnecessary. It doesn't do her or her partner any favors! The team that is eliminated are guests on Jimmy Kimmel on elimination night. Mario was on and Karina was not! Even Mario couldn't come up with any reason as to why she wasn't there. He looked uncomfortable. He didn't know how to respond when Jimmy asked why.

I disagree with the comment about Maks, though. I think that Maks is misunderstood. I think he is adorable and is so very excited whenever his partner and he gets good critiques and scores. If he were truly as conceited as some people think, he wouldn't be so happy he would just act as though that's what he deserved. I have missed him this season! He is still under contract so when he comes back, I hope that those Maks haters out there give him another chance and look at him fairly.

totally agree!
i've never liked her! she seems like a spoiled brat!
i think mario danced better than marisa this week, but tony and marisa are so positive i think that's what made them advance and mario not! i feel bad for mario, it's a shame to blame him, but it's hard when he's partnered with her!!

I totally agree! I've never really liked her anyway; she always seemed so cold compared to the other dancers!

Karina was completely unprofessional. I hope that DWTS takes notice and does not allow her back next season.

Unfortunately, Karina has not earned many admirers, based on what the viewers rightly perceive as poor sportsmanship. This is a problem for whomever she might be paired with in the future, since success on DWTS is based on someone taking an action to move a performer forward. As I have said before, Karina does not inspire folks to take that action, which will be a handicap for her new partner from Day One.

That being the case, the producers would be foolish to invite her back next season. Her partner will not have a fair chance because of fan dislike for Karina.

Ashley, who looked great last week in the reunion show, and who has proven her patience, tolerance and sportsmanship with the very difficult Master P., would be an excellent replacement for Karina. It's time to bring Ashley home!!!

after karina rolled her eyes, sulked, and refused to congratulate emmitt smith and cheryl burke, viewers turned off on her and her hoochie ho dancing. the show is better off without her childish poor sportsmanship. please don't renew her contract. i'm a fan of competitive ballroom and latin dancing and there are great dancers who would jump at the chance to be on this show.

I don't care for Karina myself, but I can't help feeling a little bad for her after reading all these comments. Maybe an excess of pride and protectiveness of her students is coming across as a lack of sportsmanship? I know she's a repeat offender, but maybe she's really a nice person in real life and just comes across as rude on TV. There is editing involved, after all.

I do agree Ashley would be a welcome addition, though. I wouldnt mind not seeing Anna again (she had the worst back-talking of all but no one seemed to notice). Remember Charlotte Jorgensen from season 1? I wish she'd come back. She was the best ever.
