Cheers to the writers of CSI:NY for finally turning Danny Messer back into the man he used to be and hopefully ending the shipwreck that is Danny/Lindsay. The scene between Danny and Rikki was beautifully written and the actors did an amazing job. Carmine Giovinazzo and Jacqueline Pinol have amazing chemistry together, and I really felt there was something special between the two characters. May this fabulous story line continue.

I watched last night's epi and when I saw Danny in the kitchen chopping and LYING to Lindsay on the phone, I swear I was hoping the knife would slip - and that is one damn fine body to mar! But he deserves it for being such a snake, and I hope Lindsay catches him with his drawers down and her Big Sky knife handy! Pig. And I don't care WHAT he is suffering through: he should just be honest and tell her. In the first place she would understand and in the second place she has also suffered through an horribly traumatic event of her own, so she would doubly understand his confusion. By lying to her he is totally disrespecting her and what they had, and don't forget HE pursued HER at the beginning, and she deserves better. The rat.

Oh, and it was an easy mystery too: way too obvious as soon as you saw she had left the boy behind: no real mother would EVER do that.

And why all the continuing torture of Stella? What did she ever to do anybody at the network to deserve all the Sturm und Drang of late?

I love this show, but they need to start giving their core characters a break.

Franky, I've never gotten Giovinazzo's appeal. There are actors 10x more appealing than guy. I've yet to see him in anything where he doesn't remind me of some hooligan. I also don't watch procedurals shows like this for the soap opera so I could care less about him and Linday.

Stella on the hand, I agree with you about that sharondunford. What is the deal? Has Melina pissed someone off over there and this is the way they are paying her back? I don't get it and it's old and needs to stop.

While I agree that both Giovinazzo and Pinol did a good job with this scene I see no future in this pairing. The 'something special' you allude to is called grief, or guilt - take your pick. Danny came across as being desperate to salve his guilty conscience with Rikki (the grieving mother) calling him on it.

It's just sex and comfort. To me, Danny came across as being slightly out of his mind and I believe that is the driver here and will come out in subsequent episodes. There seems to be a small group of CSI:NY fans on the net who are clutching onto this pairing because of their intense dislike of the Lindsay character. It's just silly.

Danny and Rikki have the same chemistry as a drunk and a bottle of cheap vodka. This isn't love or romance or even concern for the other, it's an unstable, grieving mother and a self-centered cop using each other.

The Danny/Rikki storyline was one of the best in this season.
It`s about time that Danny puts Lindsay in her place.
They never were a couple to begin with.
Hopefully they keep them seperated cause Danny is better off without Lindsay.
lindsay is the most boring character on the show.
She doesn`t match with the others.
She is only a labtech who needs to stay in the background.
And if they put her in the foreground then please no more speeches.
Cause the speeches of Lindsay are childish, immature and not professional.
She is a child in all the things she does.
Both of them are guilty but I feel Lindsay is the one which is the most to blame in this case.
Simply because she wasn`t there for Danny when he needed her.

This is partially to blame to the fact that Anna Belknap isn`t good at the drama scenes.
She misses the depth and the emotions.
Let her stick to the fun, light scenes cause that is more up to her alley

I am in complete agreement with jen78; the only people who see "something special" in the Danny/Rikki pairing are that small group of viewers who have an intense dislike for the Lindsay Monroe character. They latch onto to any pairing that involves Danny and "anyone-but-Lindsay," and it is they who have embraced this train wreck. They claim that Lindsay is just a whiny child who has no place on the show, but the childish party in all of this is Danny; even though Rikki admitted that their tryst was wrong, Danny was completely selfish in clinging to her for another round.

Many people who are not active Danny and Lindsay "shippers" have expressed disgust for Danny's actions. This only serves to underscore how wrong the pairing of Danny and Rikki is.

I sure didn't see anything beautiful with what was written with this epi... Danny and Rikki scene was nothing but fueled by grief and Danny beating himself up about the little boy's death and feeling he is to blame..while Rikki admits to using Danny so she wont feel alone.. is that beautiful ..hardly I don't find anything beautiful with it at all..I don't even see any great chemistry either between Carmine and Pinol.. the way I've seen Carmine act as Danny with scenes with other of the cast..it's been nothing of the sort with Pinol.. I feel like he is hardly there..it's like he is somewhere else..no spark, no smile, just nothing.. while he has way more chemistry with Anna, fun banter, playfulness, they truly seems to enjoy working together and are comfortable in their scenes together..

I rather never see Rikki again...I want this storyline ended like yesterday..it's so overdone I'm sick and tired of it..they took something well done with Child's Play and turned it into a soap drama.. a stupid plot device to pour on more Danny drama.. it's been overdone,,it's been taken to far.. taken the character of Danny to the extreme,, to a cheater and someone who doesn't even seems to have a mind right now.. and taken a grieving mother and turned her into a cheapening character which I rather never see again..

So end this story now, take Rikki out of the picture never to be seen again, and build up Danny's character again.. and for once let a couple on screen just be that a couple.. I've seen my share of breakups and all ugly things for on screen couples..there is no need to up drama to cause angst between a couple..use the couple in a good way instead.. make them overcome things as a couple, make them stronger as a couple..

Hope I never have to see a epi like Right Next Door again..since as a Danny character wise epi that had to have been the worst I've seen for him.. I want the crime show back, I want the mysterious..with a touch of Danny & Lindsay romance sure,,but cut the plot devices and boring classic soap opera stunts..

This was the worst storyline on CSI NY and even a worse turn of events to have Danny do this. It is absolutely crass and disgusting. It completely destroyed Danny's character and any credibility that the storyline of a grieving mother might have brought. The writers really disappointed me, I think this was a real failing, there are plenty of other ways to show character development or drama, and this is probably the worst way.

The ONLY thing good about that episode was Anna Belknap's beautiful performance.

Some fans are bashing DL shippers because we're wrong in our views that Danny and Lindsay are dating and that we're just being idiots. So it's alright for Danny to be an ass to Lindsay, yet when she pushed him away last season people got all huffy and said she was being selfish *shakes head in wonder*

I'm willing to bet that if those fans were in our shoes, they would feel the same way we do.

Some say Danny is not a cheater because he and Lindsay aren't dating. That's fine and all, but he's still being an ass to her. Getting all defensive on her in 4x16 after what he did? Disgusting.

This storyline is one of the better ones from the last season.

I see a lot of D/L shippers keep talking about how Danny cheated but how is it that Danny is cheating when there hasn`t been any evidence they were in a relationship to begin with?
It was never shown in the serie that they had dates outside work which showed me that they were exclusive.
No matter what is said in interviews and sites like this,if it isn`t shown then it simply didn`t exist.
And besides that,if they were in a relationship, then Lindsay is as much to blame for the mess as Danny.
Apperently she wasn`t there for him or has been annoying him, otherwise he wouldn`t go to Rikki.
Lindsay speech was cringeworthy and childish.
Her whole behaviour over the past few seasons was just painfull and annoying to watch.
Add to the fact that Lindsay as a character, always is mention alongside`s Danny, shows me that she is a character which doesn`t work as a single standing character.
And that is the real bad thing in the serie

We choose to believe they are dating, just like others choose to believe they are not. We don't know if Lindsay has been there for him or not since TPTB won't show us. Once again, it seems to be perfectly fine that Danny is being a complete ass to her (because Danny can do no wrong), but when Lindsay was struggling with her past last season and she held him at arm's length,
people got huffy about it.

I 100% agree with daytimedrama's comment about how Lindsay/Anna's speech was the only good thing about 4x16. IMHO, she pwned him.

"beautifully written"?? "fabulous storyline"?? They've trivialized the death of a child by reducing it to a cheap plot device and made Danny a self-absorbed jerk. This whole arc has played out like bad fanfiction.

Ausiello says that D/L shippers will be pleased with the finale, but the writers have a lot of work to do for me to be remotely pleased with this horrible arc.

I really do not like the way people slag off Anna Belknap's acting. Often calling her childish e.t.c. Surely the people doing this are actually immature? For goodness sake, actually accept she is a main character and stop gloating on the fact you loathe her and move on. Grow up.
If Anna couldn't act she wouldn't have got the job!
I think she did a fantastic job, and monologue in 4.16 was brilliant.
The chemistry you 'see' between Danny and Rikki? It is fueled with guilt, both trying to forget the pain. They are using each other, maybe Danny doesn't want to use Lindsay?
Just open your mind.
