Cheers: Sisto Lays Down the Law

080103cheers-sisto2.jpg
Jeremy Sisto and Jesse L. Martin by Will Hart/NBC
Cheers to Jeremy Sisto for getting back on solid dramatic ground as Det. Cyrus Lupo on Law & Order. The ex-Six Feet Under nutjob took a misstep by trying comedy with a recurring role on TBS’ My Boys, but he fits right into NBC’s gritty urban drama as Jesse L. Martin’s brooding new partner. Sisto's certainly an improvement on his predecessor, Milena Govich, who strained credulity as "beauty queen" cop Nina Cassady. Case closed.

I liked Milena Govich in her L and O role. Sisto is what turned me off to Kidnapped. He was okay last night but I still find him colorless and somewhat mechanical-consciously "acting".

I liked Govich at first, but she didn't grow into the role. Kidnapped wasn't Sisto's best work, but his slightly stilted style seems to work in the just-the-facts-ma'am L&O universe.

I loved him last night, and I had a feeling I would.

I knew within 30 seconds. Too bad the poor guy had to run so much though.

Cheers to L&O! I felt like the show felt fresh again, and loved the new characters. Sam Waterson is perfect in his new role.
Thank goodness there will be some new episodes of this show, as the writers continue to strike and most other shows are now on hold.

Wow I guess I am the only one who really enjoyed Sisto in Kidnapped. His Cyrus Lupo is an interesting character and really fits to the type of characters he plays very well. His character with just a look and a couple of words easily picked up on things and pried information out of people ie the guy at the diner. I liked the whole feel of the cast especially the addition of Linus Roache as the new DA -- he reminds me of a younger and brasher version of Jack McCoy.

I have been a diehard Law & Order fan since the beginning but I had kind of checked out the last couple of seasons after a string of bad casting choices-Elizabeth Rohm, Dennis Farina and Milena Govich-as well as the move to Friday nights.

But the show seemed to be revitalized last night. Sisto was terrific and the cases were really intriguing. Waterston was gievn alot more to do than previous DAs, a role that hasn't been handled well since Steven Hill left the show. And though no one seems to be talking about him, I thought Linus Roche was great as well.

My Dream L&O cast-Sam Waterston, Angie Harmon, Steven Hill, Jerry Orbach, Chris Noth, S. Epatha Merkerson.

My Nightmare L&O cast-Michael Moriarty, Elizabeth Rohm, Fred Thompson, Dennis Farina, Milena Govich, Dann Florek.

I agree LPDB, the show did feel fresh. I'm not so sure I like the new ADA, I wanted more Jack M., but I loved Sisto's character.

I love your lists, but I would move Michael Moriarty and Dann Florek to the Dream Team. I'm not a fan of Jesse Martin...I wish they would bring Munch over from SVU to replace him.

I only watch Women's Murder Club because of Angie Harmon, and I wish she could/would go back to L & O. She was by far the best ADA...and I'm not crazy about Jack's new replacement. Yuck.

abbyroad - I LOVED Kidnapped! and I just adore Jeremy Sisto! I am so glad that he is on Law and Order and will continue to watch just because he is on! I have always loved whatever he was in. Anyone know if he's single? lol

I liked it and thought Jeremy Sisto and the new DA Linus Roache did a great job. I was happy to see Brad Dourif (Dr. Death) back on TV. His face took me instantly back to his role in the Lord of the Rings (Grima Wormtongue). Awesome!

Lellyred asked: Anyone know if he's single? lol

This from Wikipedia (so take it with a grain of salt I guess): Sisto was married to actress Marisa Ryan but they were divorced in 2002.

Sisto divorced Marisa Ryan?

That's interesting because Marisa Ryan was in the second episode of Law and Order last night.

At the beginning of the blackout episode, she was the neighbor who propostioned Sisto's character and said her husband was out of town and that "what happens during a blackout doesn't count."

I guess they still get along :)

I think Sisto was the perfect addition to the cast. I really enjoyed the shows last night, more then I have in the last couple seasons. My own Jeer would be I think McCoy's female assistant (can't think of her name) should have been promoted, rather then playing second seat still. Overall I think the show got a good shot of life back to it.
