I thought Stewert was nearly unwatchable. To compare him with Ellen, or Billy is ridiculous. I started the broadcast listening to everything Stewert said but found myself fast-forwarding through most of his dialogue by the end of the ceremony.

Jon Stewart is the perfect host for the time period we live in. I still think Johnny Carson and Bob Hope are the standard bearers of great hosting. I however think Billy Crystal is past his prime. How is he even relevant to what is happening in show business today? He seems to have dropped off the radar in Hollywood and it is just nostalgia that keeps him in peoples minds. I like Ellen but she has absolutely no bite and I think the Oscars need some of that to make it entertaining.
Considering that Jon isn't even a part of the Hollywood "in" crowd, means his ability to successfully host is a big deal.

Best in a while. It was way better than his last time. Not since Billy Crystal have we had a better host.

Worst. Oscars. Ever.
Jon Stewart was not funny and he seemed extremely uncomfortable as the host. Normally I really like him but this was the worst year.
Bring back Billy Crystal!

I didn't watch the whole show. I watched the beginning and some other parts. Using the DVR I skipped over the awards since they were for movies most people, including me, never heard of. Eventually I even gave that up because Jon Stewart really sucked and so did the filler clips/entertainment. Stewart had a few good jokes but mostly couldn't get a laugh to save his life. They should have just canceled the Oscars instead of putting on this steaming pile of dung.

Boring event, boring host. Bring back Steve Martin or promote Conan O'Brien.
I'm not a big fan of Billy Crystal, but the clips with him inserted are always fun.

Jon Stewart was a so-so host. Overall, he was moderately funny (though nowhere close to great), but his constant digressions into political diatribes were ridiculous. Apparently no one explained to him that the Oscars are about movies and not politics. A few political jokes (i.e. the 'Oscar is 80' line) are fine, but several minutes wasted on the election, with no connection to the movies that we were supposedly celebrating was terribly inappropriate.
Jon Stewart should never be asked back to the Oscars. And next time, the Academy should make sure to hire a host who knows the show is about movies!

I love Jon and thought he did a great job, but the political stuff could have been saved for his show. I wonder if the lack of prep time forced him to stick with his safety material. I would keep him in a rotation of Billy, Steve, Chris, and Conan.
I'm in favor of Conan hosting, as he's always done a great job at the Emmys. Plus, I'm game for any excuse for him to do a bit with Andy.

Jon Stewart did not keep me interested; I was bored. Bring back Billy Crystal. Or Steve Martin. Even Conan or Jay would have been an improvement.

Jon was wonderful and what he did for the best song winner was historic and the classiest, kindest thing Ive ever seen on an awards show.
That being said, I think Ellen was the best host and might be the most crowd-pleasing and populist. Not every gets the controversial and political brilliance of Jon Stewart.
Everyone whining about bringing Billy Crystal back - you need to go back to the rocking chair on your porch and tell the kids to get off your lawn because you're about 20 years behind the times, Gramps. Move on, for the love of God.

Jon Stewart is shmuck!! I'm so sick of snide,arrogant,no-talent,smug, thinks he god's gift liberal little brats like him stinking up the airwaves with their pompous, phony, racist, sexist tripe. The I'm a 'progressive' trapped in a old, white, oppressive male society is getting old especially considering Stewart and OTHER stupid, unfunny creeps of his ilk are all WHITE MALES!! He reminds of the old guy in the commercial who says he's 'sticking it to the man' then has an underling remind him HE'S the very person he's bemoaning what a hypocritical, worthless, obnoxious chump!!
