Cheers: Heroes Saved by the Bell
Kristen Bell by Chris Haston/NBC
Cheers to Kristen Bell for sparking Heroes to life. In just a few scenes, the Veronica Mars veteran juiced up the slumping sophomore drama as Elle, an assassin sent to track down Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) in Ireland. Using her electrical powers, she incinerated gang leader Ricky (Holt McCallany) and was promptly called home by her unseen father, which raises the intriguing question: Who's her daddy? Somehow, we doubt she believes Father knows best. One thing we do know: Bell's live-wire performance turned Chapter 5 into this season's strongest episode yet.

Totally agree Bell livened it up and I am curious as to who her father is. Maybe they've cast Enrico Collatino (sp?)?
But for the love of God please wrap up Hiro's story in 1671 Japan!

Gotta say, Kristen was a breathe of fresh air. I knew she would liven the show up and seeing her as a baddie is just wonderful. The other plus, she's still quippy as ever!

Buffy Freak and buffybot--Glad you agree. I wasn't a regular Veronica Mars viewer, although I did enjoy her performance as well as Enrico Colantoni's whenever I did watch. Bell first impressed me as the doomed grifter on Deadwood, so it's good to see her getting back to her dark roots. I don't mind the Hiro story line, but I did miss Claire and West last night. I didn't miss Alejandro and Maya, though, even if it meant no scenes with Sylar!

I have to agree: "Fight or Flight" was definitely the strongest episode thus far this season. Let's hope this is the beginning of some momentum! It was nice to see the show returning to some of it's roots, ala Peter in "Isaac mode" and being sent (once again) on a prophetic journey. What awaits in Montreal? I also think that Elle's "Daddy" may not be her biological father, as it were. But, we'll see. Oh, and the best line in the espisode? "I'm not a cargo jet, Parkman." Classic!

While I love Kristen and thought she was great I was actually expecting more craziness with her apperance, more "Oomph!" That's probably partly my fault for reading some of the info about her character - damn you Michael Ausiello!! I didn't read anything too spoilery, but even the little I did had me expecting more. I do think Kristen's appearance last night was much needed (although overall I liked last week's episode better). Her little, innocent girl routine with the dock guy and Ricky was great. I can't wait to see even more of her soon!

It was easily the best episode of this season but for me it wasn't because of her. I am interested in getting to know this character though. Seeing Nikki as Jessica in action, seeing Peter use the "painting" power from a first person view, Parkman's father's "dream" power being used, were all highlights for me.

I actually thought last week's episode got the show moving again at last, but I really enjoyed this episode as well and am delighted with Kristen Bell's character so far.
It's kind of scary that people are ready to talk slump after five episodes -- the last two of which were really good -- but so goes the blogosphere.

Yes it was the strongest show of the season but I didn't see anything in Bell's performance that made it so. I thought what happened to Matt and CopyCat were far more interesting. She was kinda blah. But I hold out hope for more when her plotline starts to rev up.
Thank god we didn't have to check in with Nikki and Paolo this week.

but bell was great last night!!! her character is gonna be sweet. what really made the ep for me was the storyline w/parkman and nathan. that was freaking awesome!

I totally and completely agree!!!! It left me wanting the whole episode just to be Peter's storyline. I could totally see her Veronica Mars side coming out when she was questioning people about where Peter is. Plus, it put to rest the theory that Peter got his electrical powers from her. I wonder who her daddy is? Could it be that guy from the company that hired Mohinder? Is it Matt's dad or someone completely new? All I have to say is Jeers to the Hiro/Kensei stuff. It is so freaking boring and totally pointless to the plots going on with everyone else. If Kristen Bell wasn't in this episode and if all the Nathan/Matt stuff didn't happen, I would've been bored. The thing I don't like about this show is that we follow characters for like 3 or 4 episodes and then don't seem them at all like Maya, Alejandro, Sylar, West, and Claire.

patience grasshopper....
When the series started it was sooo disjointed I almost stopped watching it. But I hung in and was rewarded with the reveal of what was going on and once I got all the characters down I was hooked.
So now you want to change the formula?
Liken it to if Tarentino told a story in chronological order we'd all fall asleep in 10 minutes.
Relax and enjoy the ride. Sure you got to think a littel. It won't hurt ya.
