Cheers: ABC's Winning Decision

Cheers to ABC for devoting a half-hour of prime time to coverage of the New Hampshire primary. After the Alphabet scored surprisingly strong ratings Saturday night with the candidates' debates, the 'net happily bumped an episode of Just for Laughs to make room for Charlie Gibson and Co. CBS and NBC, on the other hand, stuck with the People's Choice Awards and The Biggest Loser. ABC offered its own versions, with John McCain as the People's Choice and Mitt Romney as the Biggest Loser on the Republican side, and the Democrats too close to call. Of course, ABC's civic good deed probably wouldn't have happened if not for the writers' strike, but at least something positive has come out of that stalemate.

Cheers?? I don't think so. I am so tired of hearing about these candidates already that I cannot wait for November to get here so the stupid campaign ads and excessive news coverage of every little thing these people do can end!

I love Charlie Gibson. Charlie, Anderson Cooper and Gil Grissom are the most trustworthy people on TV.

They should bring back Sam Donaldson and "Primetime Live"!

Whatever happened to all those primetime news magazines and documentaries? Seems like they nearly all became extinct under the reality onslaught. Of course the network news divisions aren't what they used to be either, especially now with the 24 hr cable news channels.

Way to go, Charlie! And to think they passed him over after Peter Jennings died. Good things come to those who wait. Or maybe he's just good and we're finally taking notice.

Cheers!! I agree. It's about time we started treating these elections as important because, lets face it, we don't need the next 4 years to be like the last 8. I'm undecided as voter. For the first time ever I'm not even sure which party I want to support. But Americans need to be aware of what is going on in the country not just hope to get these elections over with.

If things continue like the New Hampshire vote, will we have to call Bill Clinton the First Lady?
