Jeers: End Castro's Reign of Terror!

Jeers to Jason Castro for phoning it in on American Idol. With his dreamboat eyes and goofball grin, the dreadlocked dude coasted into the final four, but after massacring Bob Marley's "I Shot The Sheriff" and bumbling Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man," he deserves to pack his suitcases (as Simon said). Think what you want about the other three finalists — me, I find David Archuleta cloying — but at least they're all trying. Heck, Syesha Mercado broke down in tears after her moving rendition of Sam Cooke's "A Change is Gonna Come." Jason makes me want to cry, too, but not in a good way.

Jason was awful last night. Simply awful. Lousy song choices, and songs poorly sung. And let's not forget the charisma vacuum he lives in.

I am hoping against all hopes that Syesha makes it to the final three, because she has really upped her game and come through with the vocals we expect from an American Idol.

I agree completely. What is he still doing on this show? I wouldn't take a free download of his stuff on iTunes if it was offered. But knowing how the voting is so screwed up on AI, I will probably be subject to this torture another week. Syesha deserves to stay - Jason deserves to go. Half the people that have gone already are better than he is.

While I normally love Jason, last night was very bad. I think he is ready to go home and I am ready to let him. As for Archuletta- I have never liked him, they act like he is the best thing since sliced bread.. and he is not.

For the last few weeks, Syesha has upped her game and proven she actually does belong, though why it took her so long to get back to her "final 12" performance levels, we can't imagine.

As for Jason, he's generally been good enough to continue on week to week, but at this point, "good enough" isn't good enough to move on to the final 3. Time to pack the bags, as Simon said.

I agree whole heartedly with your take on Jason. He comes off as a spoiled frat boy who tried out for the show on a drunken bet...and happened to win a chance to fast forward a career in entertainment/music by sheer " boyish good looks (great dimples)and a laid back charm (??)". It is now quite apparent that he is not taking the show seriously (I'm sure to the utter dismay and frustration of those whose futures depend on the Idol) but rather is merely along for the ride. Some wandering "behind the scenes" shots have actually caught him looking absolutely bored with it all. Or is he just plain drugged out?

He is boring and should be ousted immediately!

Dang, Jason's got to go... I think he peaked with "Hallelujah," because ever since then, I haven't been wowed by his performances.

The fact that he forgot some of the words to "Mr. Tambourine Man" - a MAJOR no-no in the top 4 - shows he's not taking this as seriously as he should. C'mon, out of the thousands that auditioned for AI, you're in the top 4, Jason! You (and the other 3 remaining) have got to BRING IT - and seeing how you didn't, it's auf wiedershen for you.

I too hope Syesha stays for the top 3.

I like everyone in this top four, but it's true, Jason clearly was the worst last night and thus should be the one to go.

Archuleta may not be everyone's taste (I love him), but he is the true musician of the four. David Cook has a great commercial voice, but it is not distinctive. Archuleta is just beginning to mine the depths of his genetic gifts......his voice and its tonal qualities are unique, he knows how to use it, and he can take a familiar song and change it to something new. He also seems to be the contestant least focused on the fame aspect and still innocent enough to be pursuing this for the joy of music. That is why so many people love him and respond to him.

Last night was rough, I knew he had to go, but I still felt disappointed :O
Can't wait till he puts out a CD, my daughter wants one and so do I.

I could not DISAGREE more! At this point, Jason was the only reason my husband and I watched the show...needless to say, I will not be watching the rest of this season. However, I am almost happy that Jason got out now so that he will be able to go ahead and make a fabulous CD of his own without the AI powerhouses controlling him (he even had a record exec already waiting to speak to him backstage last night).

I loved Jason on the show. The rest are good, I just find them boring. I know exactly what I am going to get from each of them and it is typically nice, but it really does nothing for me. It is the same as the season before and the season before that. I don't care who wins or who gets voted off first. So I probably won't finish this season. That will be a first for me, but I have more interesting things to fill my time. Besides, I can check here to find out who goes home and who wins. If Jason puts out a CD, I probably would go out and get it, that too, would be a first for me.

Lest us not forget his amazing performances...(remember the i-tunes sales?) Jason was the only entertaining one left. That boring show was lucky to have him. WE ALL WERE.
