UPDATED Strike Chart: How Long Before Your Shows Go Dark?

Hugh Laurie by Adam Taylor/Fox; Heroes by Chris Haston/NBC; T.R. Knight by Scott Garfield/ABC
[UPDATED 2/8/08] There seems to be little doubt that the writers' strike will result in a shorter TV season, but just how short are we talking? Well, as you might've guessed, it varies from show to show. Those programs that are either highly efficient (Friday Night Lights) or have entered the season with a backlog of episodes (Men in Trees, Law & Order: SVU) will be in originals well into the new year. But series with tighter production schedules (i.e., nearly every half-hour comedy) will go dark almost immediately. Of course, figuring out how many episodes remain in your favorite shows' arsenals requires a lot of numbers crunching — and as I've come to learn, the only thing you Ausholes despise more than a Wednesday without AA is mathematics. With that in mind, I pulled together this incredibly handy (and 85 percent complete) cheat sheet. Keep in mind: The information below is subject to change, particularly if both sides get back to the bargaining table and resolve this frakkin' thing! (For ongoing WGA strike coverage, read TVGuide.com's Strike Watch blog.)

how did you know that math is something us Ausholes fear? Thanks for the cheat sheet, but I'm afraid the writer's strike depression is already starting to kick in.

Ok, I have a question? Say the writters strike goes on and the season is essentially over, once these episodes come out? All the shows are mid way through their seasons, some are new and some are established... Some of the shows likely won't make it, obviously. Recently, if a show hasn't made it, it usually is available on line or on DVD. What now? We aren't going to have any DVD releases or On-line avenues to view the show, because the show hasn't even been made, so all of these shows that are halfway through their season, we are basically just screwed (sorry I couldn't find a better term) if they don't survive. I like good TV, and because of that, most of the shows I watch are in jeopardy <Chuck, Journeyman, Bones- Friday Night? what the heck is Fox Thinking?, Reaper, Pushing Daisies (one of the few I like with a decent audience), Bionic Woman (it's getting better, but to what end, if it doesn't survive the strike), Life, Smallville (I am not worried about this show, It has enough history to survive the strike) and Supernatural>. I really want this to be resolved soon, I can't loose all of my good shows...

You know what's funny. You joked about having put all this work into a chart during your Ask Ausiello column and then you jokingly pointed to the LA Times chart.

Ironically now, 2 days later, you ended up having to work hard to produce a far more comprehensive list on your own.

Just thought I'd point that out.

Whats the deal with Battlestar Galactica? We were told all the way last fall that the final season would start spring of 2008, so presumably they've already filmed much of it right? For that matter, I'm pretty sure the show is filmed up in Vancouver (along with Stargate Atlantis and formerly SG-1), so will shows produced/filmed in Canada even be affected by this strike?

Another question - once the strike ends, how long will it take shows to get back on the air? I'm sure this varies from show to show, but if the strike ended on Dec. 31, for example, would we see new episodes later in the spring? Or would it take too long to get production going again, and would everyone just wait until next fall?
