Super Scoop! Tori Spelling on Smallville!

Campy stunt casting alert! Tabloid darling Tori Spelling -- who gamely poked fun at her image in VH1's hilarious, albeit short-lived, real-life comedy So NoTORIous -- is headed to Smallville as the Daily Planet's new gossip columnist. Of course, this being Smallville, Tori's muckraker also has the unique ability to turn herself into water. Check out my column in the current issue of TV Guide magazine for more on this exclusive scoop. I'll also have new details (fresh from tonight's CW launch party) in tomorrow's Ask Ausiello.

For some reason, I'm visualizing the character she played in Saved By the Bell.

Please tell me this show hasn't jumped the shark.

Wow. I'm not so sure how I feel about this. Now, I'm probably in the minority here, but I really like Tori. I thought So Notorius was actually quite funny and Donna was always my favorite character... but I just don't know that she belongs on Smallville....

Mariska's dad just died and this is the best you can come up with?

I LOVE IT! Tori Spelling is such an under-appreciated actress. She was fantastic in "Trick" and even better in So NoTORIous! What a shame the show did not get picked up for a second season. It was such a hidden treasure that I am glad I found on VH1. I think everyone should chill out and save judgement for when we as an audience actually see her performance. Peace.

People should give Tori Spelling a break. Her mom won't give her any money. She actually needs to work now. :)

"Jump the Shark"
The answers to questions like this can always be found in Wickipedia, just so you know. Here's the link directly to the phrase in that site, for your convenience. :)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jump_the_shark

In short... Back in the '70's when Happy Days was on it's downward ratings spiral, they did a show where Fonzie did a water ski stunt by jumping over a live shark (avec leather jacket and all), which was also a stunt to boost ratings. So now it is a pop culture term which is applied to tv shows who are at "the beginning of the end" and they pull a similar ratings stunt to try to save the show.
Now you can consider yourself in-the-know. :)

She will always be Donna Martin to me.

If Lex imprisons her in the Luther mansion, "Donna Martin Graduate! Donna Martin Graduate!"

Turns to water? So, is she supposed to be one of the "Wonder Twins" or something? Although it was the male twin who turned to water wasn't it?

I've never been a huge fan of her acting, but I will save judgement until I see her on Smallville.

Funny, I knew what jump the shark means, but I don't think I knew where it came from. Great tidbit of info!

How can they put such a "never was" (as in never was an actress) in a quality show like Smallville? Campy is right, and awful. :(

"...this d*amn song playing on every page is driving me CRAZY!.I did turn the sound off to avoid clicking stop every time."

Me too, it was driving me nuts... SERIOUSLY! ;) I wrote to the TVGuide.com editors to complain about that and point out areas for improvement regarding a few other things that have been bugging me about this new site. I see a lot of complaints in the columnists blogs and show blogs, but I'm not sure they are being "seen" by the right people since they are hidden away here. Here's the link to that page if you'd like to "suggest other areas for improvement". (That's the PC way of "complaining", LOL!)

And, you're welcome. I'm always happy to help out a fellow TV viewer in need.
