Snappy Judgments: 2007 Emmy Nods

America Ferrera by Dean Hendler/ABC
I'm Super Ecstatic About:
• All of 30 Rock and Ugly Betty's nods.
• The directing nod for Scrubs' musical episode and the original-song nods for "Guy Love" and "Everything Comes Down to Poo."
• The Grey's supporting-actress stampede (Sandra, Katherine, Chandra)!
• The directing and writing nods for Battlestar Galactica!
• New supporting-actor comedy blood: Neil Patrick Harris and Kevin Dillon.
• Acting nods for Brothers & Sisters' Sally Field and Rachel Griffiths.
• Masi Oka and Michael Emerson in supporting-actor drama!

Yawns to:
• Tony Shalhoub
• James Spader
• Seven nods for Two and a Half Men

I'm Super Pissed About:
• The absence of any major nods for Friday Night Lights.
• Nothing for Lost's Matthew Fox or Elizabeth Mitchell. Also, the show being snubbed for best drama series.
• No Michael C. Hall?!
• No Walton Goggins?!
• Bubkes for my groundbreaking guest stint on Scrubs.
• The absence of any major nods for Friday Night Lights (it bears repeating).

OK, that's my two cents' worth. Now it's your turn. Post your own snappy judgments below.

This totally BLOWS.

There's no reason to watch the Emmys this year. I hope there's a good football game on that night.

You could make a pretty damn good category of snubbed nominees:

Drama:
FNL
The Wire
Rescue Me
Dexter
Lost

I'm shocked at Boston Legal and James Spader getting noms. WTF? I'm extremely excited to see Heroes and 30 Rock up there though.

And Neil Patrick Harris has finally been nominated!!! :D But no John Krasinski?!

I'm glad you mentioned the absence of an Elizabeth Mitchell nomination. She was definitely someone I had expected to be nominated. Regardless, I'm BEYOND excited about Jenna Fischer and Rainn Wilson being nominated. They both had such great seasons!

I'm glad NPH finally got noticed. Barney is a great character! I am NOT happy that Lost was snubbed. They could have at least given EM a nom.

What happened to you? So you're done with Gimore Girls and Veronica Mars already? You let Lauren Graham and Kristen Bell with... no mention in the *pissed* category. Sad, sad day.

I literally teared up when I saw the absence of FNL in the major categories. Possibly because I'm pregnant and hormonal, but possibly because I realize its the best show being produced today and the stupid Emmy people are idiots. Oh, and the lack of Lost is offensive as well. I'm going to console myself with a bagel.

I'm done with the Emmys. Even though Ausiello seems to think the noms for 30 Rock and Ugly Betty are great, isn't pretty obvious that they were going to get nominated anyways!??! The comedy field had barely anything going for it this season with so many new additions so it was no surprise with the nominations there.

HOWEVER, the drama field had many new and already great series that would have been perfect for the Drama category. I agree with renton .... minus Rescue Me, replace that with Deadwood ... and then you have me at "Hello"

The complete absence of Friday Night Lights from best series (along with lost) and best lead actor and actress noms is unbelievable. Show me one couple on television that is more a husband/wife duo (REALISTICALLY) and I'll give you a million dollars.

That's acting .... what Kyra Sedgewick does on The Closer? That's annoying. And it's a shame that it was recognized and Connie Britton NOT! (although I am excited for Mariska, she deserved it and finally got it. Good for her ...)

BUT STILL: FNL and LOST .... WTF!?!?!?

Guess I should be happy that Denis Leary got another nom. Now...don't F it up this year, voters!

Also very stoked for Sally!

LOST should have received noms, too..."Jack", "Ben" and "Juliette" all kicked major A last season!

I think those CBS "comedies" are so LAME. I've yet to laugh when sitting through them.

While my friends here will know I'm very disappointed that 2 1/2 Men's "Apologies For The Frivolity" didn't get a writing nomination, I am not too unhappy with the nominations. It's nice to see a lot of new faces, and some of the snubs are appropriate, in my opinion.

It's very disappointing to see the FNL snub, as I think a strong Emmy showing might have saved the series (a la Hill Street Blues, Cheers). This news, combined with NBC pulling the reruns this summer, makes me think we're not going to see all the planned episodes this fall (if we see any at all).

I am most excited about the 30 Rock nods, especially for Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin. Fey is a dark horse (but that will make it that much sweeter, if she wins)!

The acknowledgement of the Scrubs musical episode makes me melancholy over the fact that Buffy The Vampire Slayers' "Once More With Feeling" was so undeservedly snubbed a few years ago. Still, GO POO!

The Sopranos will probably be a sentimental favorite on September 16th, but the one win I hope they get is Michael Imperioli! His work is consistently outstanding.

The only other observation that stands out for me is that Sandra Oh's hysteria scene at the end of the GA season finale should cost her the Emmy. She was so over the top in that moment, I found myself laughing! And don't get me wrong; I have loved her in everything else I've seen her in, but that moment was ludicrous!

All in all, I'm pleased with the categories and although I could nitpick here and there, I can't think of anyone who doesn't deserve to be nominated.

What does Friday Night Lights have to do to get a freaking Emmy nomination? The show is brilliantly written, acted and produced. Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton are doing the best work of their careers, and are by far the most realistic married couple on TV.

Every character on this show feels real to me -- as if I'm watching a documentary of their lives each week.

And yet the Emmy voters chose Boston Legal?! I am beyond pissed.

daveraleigh, "Ben" did get a supporting actor nomination (as did Terry O'Quinn). :)

I have watched the Emmy's every year since I can remember, and I will 100% not watch this years. These nominations are OFFENSIVE.

The idea of Boston Legal or Hereos (both of which I've watched) over FNL or Lost is almost humorous. It's entirely different levels of quality. The lack of nominations for Elizabeth Mitchell, Ellen Pompeo, and Connie Briton are ridiculous, esp when you look at who did get nominated.

Even teh small categorise are messed up! Jean Smart is ridiculous as best guest actress--i loved her last year, but this year was one, over-the-top episode.

I don't know who Boston Legal keeps paying off every year...

I have never been this upset.

Can't wait to hear Matt Roush's weigh-in on these. The FNL snub hurts badly. I guess Emmys have failed the litmus test, so another year, another grand disappointment.

I actually love Boston Legal, but as fun tv, not as compelling, must-see tv. Dexter definitely should have been on the list over BL, and I'm a big BL fan.

I agree with whomever said that Grey's doesn't deserve to have a best drama nomination over some of the slighted shows (like, AHEM, The Shield, Friday Night Lights (bears repeating, yes indeed, Dexter).

Ugg. I get very excited for these noms every year, to no avail. It's great that there is so much quality tv out there that the categories are tight, but it's a true travesty that so much gets ignored. I can't even think about the Connie Britton/Kyle Chandler omissions. My heart will hurt.

I thought Robert Iler from the Sopranos was amazing this season. It would have been nice to seen him nominated.
