Scoop! Ugly Betty Star Joins Friday Night Lights
Brett Cullen (aka Wilhelmina's beau on Ugly Betty) has been cast as Riggins' estranged pa on Friday Night Lights. As I first reported in Ask Ausiello last week, Tim tracks down his father to settle a pending legal issue, and the two forge an unexpected bond.
Pretty fraktastic casting, IMHO. You guys agree?

I thought you might be interested to know that whenever I think of Brett Cullen, I think of your girl Mariska Hargitay, because they played siblings Dan and Carly Fixx on Falcon Crest back in the 20th century. (Was there ever a more absurdly perfect soap name than Dan Fixx???)

I love Brett Cullen, so I think it's great. I think he is a good fit for that role. But just one question....he's still going to be on Ugly Betty, right? Because when he is with Vanessa Williams on that show, it is fantastic! And if this scoop means that we are going to be getting double the Brett Cullen, instead of just shifting what day of the week we see him, it is even better news!

I really like Brett. Besides being easy on the eyes, he's a good actor. I'm glad he has a full time gig. I just wish it were on a show I gave flying fig about. I loved his character on Ugly Betty. Damn

How can you NOT care about FNL???? One. of. the. BEST. shows. EVER.
And YAY for Brett ... he's a great actor ... hope he gets continuing story arcs on both shows since they're both so great!

GREAT casting for FNL. Love Brett Cullen. Am I the only one who remembers him from Young Riders??? Did anyone besides me and my best girlfriend in junior high watch that show?

I totally forgot that he was on "Young Riders!" I loved that show too. Brett also had the lead in a syndicated show I really liked a few years back called "Legacy." I'm so excited for him, especially if it means he'll be doing double duty on FNL and Betty!

I love Brett Cullen! I was so surprised to see him on Ugly Betty and now I'm glad to hear he's going to be on Friday Night Lights. I thought FNL would have gone with an older actor but I don't care now that Cullen's been cast!

I loved this casting news! Loved Young Riders! You weren't alone in watching that show back in the junior high days. I was right there with you. However, I just saw a promo during last night's episode saying that FNL is moving to Wednesdays! What?! That's a terrible night to move it to. Are they trying to kill this show by putting it up against Jericho?
