Scoop! CSI Finds Grissom's "Replacement"
As I reported in this week's Ask Ausiello, CSI has tapped Tony winner Liev Schreiber to fill the temporary void left by William Petersen. Schreiber will play a seasoned CSI who joins the veteran team at the Las Vegas Crime Lab. He'll debut in Episode 12, slated to air in January.
In other casting prattle, Desperate Housewives has found a new plaything for Eva Longoria. Sources confirm that Mark Deklin, most recently seen as Dr. Shaw on Fox's Justice, is joining the cast for at least three episodes as a love interest for Gabrielle. He first shows up on Nov. 26.

i adore Liev Schreiber, so i may have to start checking out CSI during his tenure. as it is now, i tend to stay away from it, since i work late on Thursday nights and i Tivo a couple other shows. having Liev on the show may sway me over.

Did I miss something, did/is William Petersen leaving CSI permanently or is it his character leaving the CSI to teach?
(been busy, with daughters' school and my college).

Oh no! No Gris! I can't believe what was supposed to be a 2-3 week hiatus for a play now has become the opportunity to "replace" William Petersen's character?
Please say it's only temporary! I won't watch a "CSI" without Gil Grissom as a character!

I hope it's only temporary! I want to see more of him on Justice and a possible "love connection" between him and Alden! BTW, am I the only one who watches and LOVES "Justice" with "Spy Daddy" Victor Garber and "Jack" Kerr Smith (hey, they both played characters named Jack on previous shows -- Victor on Alias and Kerr on Dawson's Creek). Why is there not a TV Commentary on this show?!! Hopefully it will receive better ratings on MONDAY after Prison Break!!! EVERYONE, please watch! It's an AWESOME show! Thanks, Mike! For letting me plug it!!!

Not thrilled about this at all. I think Schreiber is a bit young to play the lead here. There are plenty of actors in their late forties and fifties who would fit the bill here. Why go with someone this young? Born in 67. Too bad CBS seems to be going the way of all the networks and bowing to youth instead of seasoned wisdom. Likely will stop watching CSI once the transition is made. So sorry too. Really love this show.
