It's Official: Scrubs is Moving to ABC!

In what may well be the most anti-climactic announcement in the history of anti-climactic announcements, Zach Braff confirmed to his cronies on MySpace today that Scrubs will, in fact, be moving to ABC next season. His complete missive is below:

Dear friends,

Many of you have been understandably confused by the Fairy Tale episode of Scrubs serving as the series finale. It was not. I was not allowed to say it until today, but Scrubs will be moving to ABC for its final season. We are currently filming the 8th and final season. The true finale of the show will air on ABC in the fall. NBC merely promoted the Fairy Tale episode as the finale, as it was the last episode they owned.

Also, several of you were very confused by the fact that Dr. Kelso and Laverne were still working at the hospital in the Fairy Tale episode. Because of the writer's strike, the last remaining episodes for NBC were aired out of order. This is why Dr. Kelso was still chief of medicine. That was not Laverne however, for those of you who have been following closely; it was a new nurse "Shirley" who no one thinks looks anything like Laverne except for JD.

Hope this clears some things up.

peace and love,
zb

Look for the news to be made officially official tomorrow at ABC's upfront presentation.

I'm glad Scrubs will be back. The 7th season was pretty messed up (strike, episodes out of order, story lines cut short), and this series deserves a proper send-off.

Happy happy joy joy!! I got the memo on MySpace too.

Hey - any chance our favorite Gynecologist might make an appearance?

It's great to have this news out of the way, no matter how confirmed we all knew it was! Thanks, Michael! Now we can move on and focus on all the OTHER great news you're giving us this week!

I wonder which shows will be Scrubs' neighbors? I could see it paired with Samantha Who? somewhere. As long as they don't stick it behind Acording To Jim, things should be okay. I hope ABC treats it right for its final season!

I think it would be great if ABC picked up The New Adventures of Old Christine and paired it with Scrubs. I would definitely watch that hour of programming.

Even though this was an open secret, it's nice to have it confirmed. As for Kelso working in the hospital during the last episode, I assumed the events had occurred some time before then, and that Cox was just relating it now as a story, especially when Cox seemed to be both at the hospital and next to Jack at the same time.

It's good to have it more or less official now.

I'm a bit surprised by how many people were confused as to when the episode was set. Yeah, it seemed odd seeing Kelso there at first, but by JD and Elliot's conversation alone, I thought it was pretty obvious that it was taking place quite some time ago. They kept refering to how their almost kiss was just a few weeks ago; and that was at the start of the season.

In other words, reading between the lines, NBC totally screwed Scrubs.

Glad to have you on the alphabet, ZB!

Huh.

I turned off the TV because I saw Dr. Kelso and assumed it was a repeat....

I guess I will watch it online....

Good news. Now if they pick up Christine from CBS, there is hope for a great comedy night on ABC (add in the great Samantha Who). Maybe one day they will unload the awful According to Jim now that they have decent, smart comedies.

I might forgive the horrible missteps they showed with handling Men in Trees. On second thought, no, I'm still pi$$ed about that.

:-x "Scrubs" I wish it wasn't going off the air at all and would stay on for many years. I also hope Dr. Kelso, alias Evil Warlord Oslek, comes back. Without him it wouldn't be as "quirky" Can't wait until it comes back on!

NBC has dissed Scrubs for the past 3 seasons...poor promoting, changing of time slots, running episodes out of order. Good luck on your Thursday night NBC...you now have nothing worth viewing anymore. I guarantee you the ratings for Scrubs will improve because ABC will do the show right. Not to mention more people watch ABC anyway...Can not wait until January!!! The worst kept secret in TVland is now official. Bill Lawrence and The Scrubs cast should be thanking all the fans who bought the DVD's..Touchstone Pictures made a lot of money and no doubt it made ABC notice and want the show for it's final season.

That's great for Scrubs. So if ABC can get Scrubs why can't they get VEGAS that is what we need, another station to take it over.
