Friday Night Lights Renewal Rumor: It's (Pretty Much) True!

There's no deal... yet.

That's what my sources over at the Peacock are telling me in response to a Deadline Hollywood Daily story claiming NBC has picked up Friday Night Lights after partnering with DirecTV. That said, the buzz is that an agreement has been reached and is essentially just awaiting a signature. To which I say, Ohymygodthankyoujesus!

What would an NBC/DirecTV combo look like? I'm not 100 percent certain, but I'm guessing it would be similar to the Law & Order: CI deal NBC brokered with USA, only in this case, FNL would first air on an exclusive DirecTV channel followed by an encore broadcast on NBC.

Bottom line: Ohymygodthankyoujesus!

I'm still trying to figure out if this is good or bad news, especially with DirecTV involved.

So...I don't understand. If DirecTV is involved in the deal, does that mean that FNL will be offered only on some DirecTV-only channel, or will it have first airing on some DirecTV exclusive channel and then a later airing on NBC?

Gimme good news!

Wow, I want FNL to be renewed more than anything but DirecTV? Who has that? I'm not paying a penalty fee of like $200 to get out of my 2 year contract with Comcast. I can't afford that. Please find another Network that people actually have in their homes.

Wow, what a difference a half an hour makes! The first time that I read this, things were completely iffy...now it's just slightly iffy. Hopefully in another 30 minutes, it'll be completely true!

As I don't have satellite TV, I would be soooo thankful if it will also air on NBC. And that DirectTV doesn't decide to drop it the way it dropped Passions (I don't watch the show, and never will, but I heard the story from others who were unhappy.) Please treat us right! Keep the lights on! (You all missed it, but I just did a roundhouse followed by a half-nelson kick...um, or something. Perfectly executed, too. :-p)

Just as long as NBC eventually airs the episodes or I have another way to watch the episodes - I'm fine with this situation. Yes, I DON'T have DirecTV and since I live in an apartment building I can't have one either.

I don't have DirectTV either, but as long as FNL also airs on NBC or one of its sister stations, my DVR will find it.

This is awesome news!
