Lauren Graham, Scrubs Score TCA Nods!
The Television Critics Assoc. (of which I'm a member) just came out with its 2006 TCA Award nominations and, save for the Battlestar Galactica snub, it's a pretty fraktastic lineup. I'm especially jazzed that after years of checking off Lauren Graham's name, our girl finally made the cut. Ditto Scrubs. With any luck, both will prevail on July 23 when the trophies are handed out. (FYI: If the TCA brass are reading this, I've got dibbs on presenting Lauren with her award if she wins. C'mon, it's a no-brainer.) A list of the major nominees are below. See if you can guess who I'm voting for.
INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENT IN COMEDY Steve Carell (The Office) Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report) Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls) Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl) Jon Stewart (The Daily Show)
INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENT IN DRAMA Alan Alda (The West Wing) James Gandolfini (The Sopranos) Hugh Laurie (House) Kiefer Sutherland (24) Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer)
OUTSTANDING NEW PROGRAM OF THE YEAR Big Love (HBO) The Colbert Report (Comedy Central) Everybody Hates Chris (UPN) My Name Is Earl (NBC) Prison Break (Fox)
OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN COMEDY The Daily Show (Comedy Central) Everybody Hates Chris (UPN) My Name Is Earl (NBC) The Office (NBC) Scrubs (NBC)
OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN DRAMA Grey's Anatomy (ABC) House (Fox) Lost (ABC) The Sopranos (HBO) 24 (Fox)
PROGRAM OF THE YEAR Grey's Anatomy (ABC) Lost (ABC) The Office (NBC) The Sopranos (HBO) 24 (Fox)

A lot of good choices here. I'm pleased
Oh, and congrats on your personal victory - I'm sure Lauren Graham is grateful for all your years of pulling for her.

The only snub I see is that Gilmore Girls isn't up for best comedy achievement!! But this is so awesome for Lauren!!

Is'nt it ironic that Lauren Graham would be nominated in the year that GG had very little comedy. She definitely deserves the nod but I think she should have been in the drama category.

As much as I love Lauren Graham, I agree that there wasn't much comedy on GG this season... and I'd have to go with
1. Stephen Colbert 2. Steve Carell 3. Jon Stewart 4. Lauren Graham 5. Jason Lee
- Alan Alda or Hugh Laurie for drama - The Colbert Report for new program - The Daily Show or The Office for comedy - House or Grey's for drama - The Office or Grey's for program of the year

INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENT IN COMEDY Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls) ???
Somebody is going to have to explain that to me. I love the lady to death, but she does not deserve to be in that category! There was NOTHING funny or comedic about last season.

NO KRISTEN BELL????
She was AWESOME this year. She has to be nominated for something.

I agree with asmith181. Not only does Kristen Bell deserve to be nominated (that's a gimme), so does the show itself (where was that in your Emmy ballot?) as well as Jason Dohring (Emmy-wise). Don't think I'm biased because Veronica Mars is my favorite show. The show and cast are truly deserving of this recognition and of being in league with so-called "adult" fare. I enjoy Grey's, Lost, House, and 24, but these shows are not the only great ones on TV (and this season I haven't really cared for the meandering Lost or melodramatic Grey's). Also, what about Arrested Development (R.I.P.) for comedy? It was the funniest show to air in years. I know that these wishes are basically pipe dreams, even with the new voting rules (again, with the Emmys), but a girl can dream right?
P.S. Go Jon Stewart and The Daily Show for consistently being the brightest beacon of light on TV. And with a program that's on Comedy Central. Go figure.

This list is pretty spot on and I'm sure will be light years better than the upcoming Emmy nominations which are stale and out of touch with the a few notable exceptions like past wins for Chiklis and AD. The only glaring ommissions besides BSG, as Mike pointed out, that I see is that Arrested Development didn't get nominated for anything, despite being the funniest show on tv this past season and no nominations for Rescue Me or the Shield.

Yeah total VM snub. I'da thought that atleast the show woulda been there. And honestly, Kristen Bell, one of the best actresses out there. She's very versatile too, Comedy & Drama, etc. She's got it all!

Thank god Lauren was FINALLY nominated for SOMETHING. Although I'm a huge Lauren Graham fan I am a bit surprised that they would nominate her this year, when 1) Gilmore Girls was completely lacking in the comedy department and 2) Gilmore Girls wasn't exactly top natch either. Surprising, but well deserved. I'm glad people are FINALLY recognizing her as a true talent.

Okay, Ausiello, I've been reading your stuff for a long time (longer if you count your DT days), so let's see if I can guess who you're voting for.
INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENT IN COMEDY Lauren Graham
INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENT IN DRAMA Kiefer Sutherland
OUTSTANDING NEW PROGRAM OF THE YEAR Big Love ? (I'm not sure what you'll pick for this category. Seriously TCA, it should be Veronica Mars)
OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN COMEDY Scrubs (they really deserve it this year!)
OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN DRAMA 24 or Lost
PROGRAM OF THE YEAR Lost or 24
(these last two categories are tough, but I think you'll go for 24 for Outstanding Achievement and Lost for Program of the Year).
How'd I do? Do I win a free t-shirt?
