Exclusive: Lost Recruits Wire Star

Lost has found more new blood.

Sources confirm that The Wire's Lance Reddick has been cast in the recurring role of Arthur Stevens, the intimidating corporate-recruiter character I first told you about in last week's Ask Ausiello. Reddick also had a lengthy arc on HBO's Oz, where he starred opposite returning Lostie Harold Perrineau.

This comes on the heels of another key piece of Lost casting: the addition of Sopranos scene-stealer Ken Leung. However, the specifics of his character remain shrouded in mystery. Rumors had him playing a brilliant mathematician named Russell, but now there's buzz that he's coming on in a top-secret role that no one (save for Darlton) knows anything about. Feel free to get some speculation going in the comments section below. Also, what do you think of Reddick's casting? Thumbs up? Thumbs down? Thumbs sideways?

Genius casting on the part of the LOST producers. I had never seen The Wire until this week when I rented the first two DVDs of Season One. First off, it lived up to the critical praise. Second, Lance Reddick's performance stood out among the great ensemble cast. Now I just want to know who will be filling the role of Charlotte since Kriten Bell turned it down.

Daniels?! This is the absolute best move the "Lost" producers could make-- short of employing the entire cast and crew of "The Wire"! Lance is an astounding actor and will make an excellent addition! I can't wait for more info on his character!!!

Both of these guys can go from Smart to Scary in a heart-beat. I get the feeling the 'Not Penny's Boat' people truly are going to be far worse than 'The Others.'

Lance Reddick is possibly the best actor on The Wire, and anyone who watches the show knows how good that makes him. It's a great decision on Lost fellas part to cast him, whatever the character.

Hopefully this is a sign of good roles to come for all Wire castmembers now that they're about to wrap on the final season.

i've only seen seasons 1-3 so far (so don't spoil me if he dies in season 4!), but i love him.

Any casting of any actor from "The Wire" is great news. It may cause one more person to rent the dvds and see possibly the best tv show ever.

These two grabs are a great sign maybe Lost is moving away from the "Friends" on an island where only young white people matter to having people with small parts have great impact (like the first season).

Lance Reddick and Ken Leung are also the latest alumni from HBO's OZ cast to be brought to Lost after Mr. Eko and Michael...now if Lost could just hire Dean Winters, I can die a happy woman. :-D

Every single cast member of The Wire is an outstanding actor. And the proof is in the pudding, since they all seem to land great plum roles on other shows.

Nutjob, Rose, Bernard, Locke, Tom, Danielle, Mikhail, Ben,& Richard are not young. Michael, Walt, Eko, Rose, Naomi, Dr. Marvin Candle, Jin, & Sun are not white. Sayid, although white, is not Anglo-Saxon. Ana-Lucia, although technically white, was Hispanic. Doesn't sound like Friends to me.

Imzadi, don't forget Hugo "Hurley" Reyes, Paulo, Nikki Fernandez, or Richard Alpert who are all hispanic. Or Mrs. Klugh.

Lost has more minority and international characters than most shows on television and has been praised for it. Hell, how many shows have subtitles on a regular basis much less a character who doesn't speak any english?

Sure, Kate, Jack, and Sawyer got more screentime than some of the other characters this past season, but is that really reason to play the race card?

I've never seen the Wire or Oz, but judging by that picture, this guy has the right intensity. Frankly, I didn't see Kristen Bell fitting into Lost. I think Heroes is a much better match for her. I can't imagine her ever being scary.

Unfortunately, for some posters around here, it's never the wrong time to play the race card.
