Exclusive: Veronica Mars' FBI Pitch Not Dead!
Veronica Mars' dream of becoming an FBI agent is still very much alive, according to Mars chief Rob Thomas.
Responding to Enrico Colantoni's recent declaration in the Toronto Star that the CW has essentially rejected a proposal that would've placed Veronica in the FBI next season, Thomas tells me that network head Dawn Ostroff "hasn't seen the presentation," adding, "I have no earthly idea what Enrico is talking about. The network doesn't see it or hear our pitches for VM College or VM FBI until May 2."
Colantoni did get one thing right in the Toronto Star piece, per Thomas. CW execs "did see and love our finale," he says, "and I told Enrico that. But the rest of it is out of left field."
A CW spokesperson, meanwhile, backs up Thomas' story. "Rob is right," says the rep.
So, the only question now is, what the heck was Enrico smoking when he gave those quotes? Any guesses?

Maybe he's ready to leave the show, so he wants to spread rumors that it's ending? I don't know, that's very weird that he would be so wrong.

Come on...we all know Veronica Mars is dead. Most people have forgotten about it!
And with the show set to air against BOTH Dancing with the Stars and House next month, it's curtains for Neptune. There are certain other shows the CW could've brought over from the WB and UPN, but VM should not have been one of them. Anyone who thought the show would actually see an audience increase in year 3 was foolish.

Maybe he meant that the people involved in making the trailer didn't feel like it was the same show. Maybe the mention of the network was tagged onto the end and taken the wrong way.
I also wonder what was said during that "..." in his comments. Maybe that's part of the misunderstanding.
Of course, I highly doubt that Rob Thomas would come out and say that the producers of the show don't like the new feel, even if it were true (again, I'm not saying that it is).

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like you took those quotes from TWoP and are saying they're exclusive...

Rob Thomas is such a sell-out and I hope he reads this. He's that desperate to keep his show on for another poorly-rated year that he's willing to turn it into something generic. Grey's Anatomy in the FBI? How pathetic. I would be more upset if they did go along with this FBI plan than if the show got cancelled. At least it could go out with some dignity. And what sort of precedent would this set? You would have never seen Mitch Hurwitz add a laugh track to Arrested Development or dumb down the jokes just to get more people watching. I was okay with them changing to standalone episode format to make the show more "accessible" but this is ridiculous. Someone else mentioned ending it on a TV movie and I think that's the best idea if they are not going to give it another year.
If they do go through with this, I for one will stop watching and will encourage others to do so.

Finally a non-GG spoiler.
Great scoop Ausiello. And I am glad to hear the finale is looking up. Since the news that LoVe was no more and that we don't have a mystery arc... I wonder how they will do their finale without the usual mystery wrap up...

I hate this "idea" of advancing the show 4 years, I do not really care for Grey's Anatomy and Veronica Mars should not be modeled after it. Veronica Mars should be modeled after the first two good seasons.

So - do you believe everything you see and hear? Do you think that reporters always get it right?
Guess what - they don't. So - I wouldn't pass any judgment on Enrico if I were you.
I am clinging to hope that Veronica Mars will return in any format I can get it. If I don't like the changes - I don't have to watch. You don't, either.

I really wish people would stop making snap judgments on what is going on. I love Veronica in any form, and will take what I can get. Rob hasn't let me down yet.

For those of you being so hard on Veronica Mars lay off! For your information Veronica Mars had it's BEST ratings this year. Check out the soaring ratings that "Spit and Eggs" pulled in. Get the fact straight.
And give future Roni a chance. She'll only be like 21...
