Exclusive: Supernatural Hires David Cassidy's Daughter

Supernatural has filled one of the two new female series-regular roles I first told you about last month.

Katie Cassidy — the 20-year-old daughter of '70s teen idol David Cassidy — has been tapped to play Ruby, a fellow demon hunter that Sam and Dean meet in the show's third-season premiere. In the casting breakdown, the character is described as "sexy, brutal and ruthless."

Cassidy's previous credits include the features Click, When a Stranger Calls, and Black Christmas and recurring roles on 7th Heaven and Sex, Love and Secrets. She has also signed on to play Lucy Ewing in the long-in-the-works Dallas pic.

No word on who'll play Bela, the "beautiful, funny and confident" mercenary who lacks a conscience, but check back in another day or so. I should have a name by then.

Well, I'm a lifelong fan of The Partridge Family who will tune in out of curiosity. I've never seen Supernatural and I've never seen Katie Cassidy before, but I'm anxious to discover something new (to me). I know a lot of friends have been urging me to watch Supernatural for a couple of years.

I hope she is a HUGE success on Supernatural, so she can drop that train-wreck-in-progress that is the Dallas movie!

"Sexy, brutal, and ruthless?" I'm betting that Ms. Cassidy gained those attributes with her daily battles with her father for the conditioner... Looking for a "character without a conscience?" I do recall reading about a few young, jobless "actresses" battling their own "demons" who could easily fit the bill...they have to be able to act? Well, two out of three...
(just don't hire a "Jump the Shark" type, like a smart-alecky cousin...)

Thanks for the Anderson Scooper! But you might want to fix the TV guide home page cause the link says they hired David Cassidy's sister.

You're trying to trip me up, wycked1! The first line is actually:

Hello world, here's a song that we're we're singin',

and the line you want filled is
We'll make you happy!

So, do I pass the geek test?

The girl's twenty years old -- just barely more than a teenager. Were all the adult actresses unavailable?

A 20-year-year blonde barbie doll. Yeah, I can totally believe she's a better hunter than Dean. Give me a break! All Sam would have to do is STEP on her, and she'd be dead meat.

I bet the other chick they hire will be a big, bad mercenary at age ...oh... 19, maybe?

Why do they think vewiers are so stupid?

Not that my opinion counts-- I'm not a Nielsen Box family, so who cares what I watch?

Stupid CW, trying to wreck an awesome TV show.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Excellent!

I'm still hoping that they'll expand Ellen's (Samantha Ferris) role. She is an awesome, adult character! If it was me, I'd use her & Bobby (Jim Beaver) more rather than bringing in new "regulars" . However, I'll reserve judgement on the female hunters until I actually see what The Kripke has planned.

Please for the love of God do not let this casting of 2 "new series regulars" wreck this show. I agree with Stacy this girl looks like someone my son goes to school with (he's 14 by the way}. It was bad enough we had to suffer throught the whole Jo debacle. Let's just hope Eric Kripke doesn't go and do something stupid like having Dean go and fall for her.

Yes, it makes perfect sense to judge an actress and her ability to fill a role based on a publicity picture. Because Kripke and Co. haven't given us any reason to trust their judgment at all over the past two seasons. And because Jensen and Jared don't look like young Ken dolls either, right?

Perhaps we should discount all comments and opinions of fans below "adult" age, too, just to play on a fair field...

It's about time that Kripke and Company gave it's gentleman fans something to salivate over. The ladies of SnOb have been slobbering over Sam and Dean for two years now and all of them believe that Sam and Dean do not need female companionship! Come on girls, you can not save them for yourselves!

This will be fun!

It's those two scary words again... "series-regular" ... aahhh!

Anyway, she looks very beautiful... I'm still anxiously waiting to see how this all turns out.
