Exclusive: Lost Resurrects Libby!

Cynthia Watros by Bob D'Amico/ABC OK, so technically, the ABC hit isn't bringing Cynthia Watros' short-lived character back from the dead. But Lost executive producer Carlton Cuse confirms to me exclusively that the actress will be playing Hurley's dearly departed sweetheart again this season for multiple episodes, presumably in more flashbacks. "She'll be in enough of the show for us to fill in the missing pieces of her story," says Cuse. "We could not be more pleased. Cynthia is a smart and engaging actor, and [executive producer] Damon [Lindelof] and I have some very cool parts of her story left to tell." It's by pure chance that Emmy winner Watros was even available for the return engagement: Her fall pilot, The Rich Inner Life of Penelope Cloud, wasn't picked up, which left a spot open on her dance card. I’m giddy…

She’s always been this almost mythical figure in the pantheon of Lost Characters because on one hand I loved the character but on the other her death was just too cool a moment to be undone. I can’t think of another character that’s true for. Most of the time I’m either ready to get rid of them (Boone) or their death is so lame that it could and really should be undone (Eko)

The opportunity to get more of her in flashbacks is a God send.

With Cynthia showing up on Lost, and you-know-who returning to 24, it's like 2005 all over again! Although, the way Libby will be back (not ressurected) will be really neat to see. Will see just be in Desmond and Hurley's flashbacks, or will see have connections to other people (including the new characters)? That'll be interesting to see.

Fantastic!!!

I had a feeling you were hinting about Libby/Cynthia.

I really wonder if Libby will be in Desmond's flashback ... or if she is somehow a part of this new Corporate thing that the casting notices are alluding to.

Also, I wonder how the whole Michael-returning thing is going to bring up Hurley's issues with him shooting Libby. You remember how Hurley tackled Sawyer for calling him names? I wonder what Hurley will do to Michael when he shows up on the beach????

i love you, michael, but your comment 'presumably in more of desmond's flashbacks' sort of annoys me. i mean, the two had only met a short time before he went to the island, and i don't think that the two of them have any more story.

and at comic con the producers said that 'saying libby is with dharma isn't barking up the wrong tree', i think that it's safe to assume that she will be in flashback's of the 'not penny's boat' people, especially if it's more than one episode. do you really believe that she will be in multiple desmond flashbacks (if he even gets multiple), let alone one?

You're making an assumption that people remember this character. You should have written a few words about her background. I've watched "Lost" since its inception and I don't recall who she is.

the guy above me is stupid ... enough said. Anyways, I totally guessed that and I'm soooo excited it's true! I knew the Lost producers wouldn't disappoint with the whole libby connection to the island. She just seemed to be way to important to off her and never talk about her again.
