Exclusive: Fox Cancels Drive

Drive has been impounded.

Multiple sources confirm that Fox has axed the Tim Minear creation after less than three weeks on the air. I'll go out on a limb and say the show's crappy ratings were to blame. House encores will take over its Monday/8 pm time slot.

There is one piece of good news: I'm hearing the final two unaired Drive eps may get burned off on consecutive Fridays in May.

UPDATE: Fox now says the final two Drives will air this summer, specific date TBA.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!

No! I love that show.

I know FOX's summer schedule is tight for space, what with all the 'Til Death and War at Home reruns that need to be aired, but I hope they can carve out a little slot somewhere to show the remaining episodes.

(Note added later: I originally posted this before Mr. Ausiello added the part about the remaining episodes airing in May.)

What a shock. Fox canceled a Tim Minear show.

(That was sarcasm.)

Didn't we all see it coming? Poor Tim Minear can't catch a break from that network.

Gah!!!! You know, I wasn't that excited about this show, at first. I mean, do I really want to watch a show about people driving around the country in a race?? But I gave it a try, and really liked it, much much more than I thought I would. Maybe if they had marketed it more about the different story-lines going on in the race, more people would have watched. Fox already has Drive on-line, so it would be nice if they post the remaining eps like they did Vanished.

Seriously?

Drive was a lot better than it got credit for ratings-wise.

I want to be mad, but I knew this was going to happen so I was just resigned to it pretty much from the begining.

Sigh.

Sigh. Yeah, I knew it was coming. FOX cancels EVERYTHING good. (I'm STILL peeved over John Doe and Tru) I told my husband after we watched this weeks' episode not to get too into because they were going to cancel it anyday now. It was a good show.

Oh well, I guess... But I wont watch House re-runs till PB comes back... So back to the drawing board for Monday night shows... But it wont be the FOX network...

No offense to 24 watchers... I don't watch that show cause I haven't seen seasons 1-5 yet, why start now...

Again, oh well... I agree with the poster who said that FOX should have promoted the different stories behind why they were racing...

If anyone hears of another station picking it up, let me know... I'm dreaming, yes, but just in case....

Take care...

Good. Now if the CW cancels Veronica Mars we'll be rid of the other insipid yet inexplicably adored show I'm tired of hearing about.

Man, it even beat the Wonderfalls record of four weeks on the air (though, to be fair, I think they got the same number of episodes?)

1234567,

Drive was not widely "adored," hence the cancellation, and anyone whose screen name is as boring as 1234567 shouldn't be able to call Veronica Mars insipid.

I'm a bit disheartened about Drive, but since I only ever saw ep. 1 and haven't gotten around to the other 2 on Tivo, I guess I can't complain too much since I don't even know whether or not it was worth watching.

Yep...and then you can get back to watching Dancing with the Stars and dreaming about the return of The Swan.

Damn it. I knew it. I knew it and yet I still watched. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Tim Minear and Nathan Fillion need to stay the hell away from FOX, that's for sure.
