Exclusive: ER Star Gets "Busy" on HIMYM

It's the stuff Maxim subscribers' dreams are made of: ER's Busy Philipps has been cast on How I Met Your Mother as the hottie who may or may not end up in the sack with Ted... and his hit-and-run fling, Trudy (Danica McKellar, the Wonder Years cutie, thankfully all grown up).
As you may recall me telling you in a recent Ask Ausiello, in the Oct. 15 episode, Trudy is ready to go another round with Ted, but a new rival has already staked her claim on him — Trudy's old college frienemy, to be played by Philipps. So things could get heated in one of two ways: There could be name-calling and hair-pulling or clothes-ripping and sheets-tangling. (Either way, Ted's one lucky mother.)
Though Philipps is likely to fit right in with the How crowd, don't expect her to stick around beyond this pre-sweeps installment. Ted's pal Lily gives the sexpot the big thumbs-down after realizing that she's the shopper who ruined her shopping trip by walking off with a pair of coveted boots.
So what do you think, folks? Will CBS really let Ted have his cake... and Danica McKellar's and Busy Philipps', too? Take a cold shower, then discuss amongst yourselves.

This is SO great. It seems that the HIMYM people are fans of the same shows I am... Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Freaks and Geeks... stars from all of these keep popping up. I adore Busy Phillips! Yet another Freaker on the show. HOoray. Too bad she's not sticking around.

So, I am so fine with whoever as the flings in Ted's life, but I am rooting for the caterer who went to France, whose name is slipping my mind, to be the actual one who is the Mother at issue (and isn't it funny once NPH has been properly acknowledged by the Emmy people, many are finally focusing on the hook of the show)

Kate2777, you're thinking of Ashley Williams who played Victoria. I believe she was a pastry chef who went to study in Germany. I'd love for her to make a return visit. She's currently busy over at Lifetime's SIDE ORDER OF LIFE as Jason Priestley's paramour. That doesn't preclude her from showing up later in the season at HIMYM, though.

I love Winnie/Trudy! Make her a series regular.
And bring in Fred Savage while they're at it for a few episodes to set up a new love triangle.

I’m thinking that, if the Mother is the Ashley Williams character, Ted is going to have some pretty pissed kids on his hands. The story is “How I met your Mother” not “How I met your mother, dated her, did some other stuff for a couple years, and then hooked back up with her two years later”. 
That said, I’d love for her to make a return appearance (her character was going for 2 years so she should be back some time this season)
As for Trudy, I know its fiction, but given what happened in Trudy’s first appearance I don’t think older Ted would be telling the story if it was her.
Just imagine your Dad telling you “I met your Mother after we had a one night stand and I woke up unable to recall her name. I spent half the day trying to figure out who she was until I embarrassed her so much that she crawled out my window and down my fire escape”
Not a great “for the kids” story…

While I couldn't care less about "How I Met Your Mother" (the first episode was awful and I never went back), I like Busy Phillips and hope she'll remain on "ER", which has improved with age--and her character Hope on that show is wonderful.

This is awesome news! I love busy. She was awesome on Freaks and Geeks. I wish it was for more than just 1 episode though. I hope they can work the rest of the Geeks cast in as guests eventually.
She's currently busy over at Lifetime's SIDE ORDER OF LIFE as Jason Priestley's paramour. If I had known she was on this show, I would have watched. How many episodes have I missed?

I've never been a huge fan of "How I Met Your Mother" (it's okay, but Monday Night Football is on), but Busy Philipps and Danica McKellar are two of my favorite actresses in Hollywood. I'll definitely be watching.
