Exclusive: CSI's Grissom to Get a Blast from His Past

William Petersen by Robert Voets/CBS
Get this: Sources confirm that CSI has signed William Petersen's To Live and Die in L.A. director, William Friedkin, to helm the season's eighth episode (to air during November sweeps, natch). As such, I think it's safe to speculate that the hour, which delves into Vegas' seedy mob underworld, will include at least one killer car chase and more Wang Chung music than you ever thought you'd hear again. Kidding aside, if the Oscar winner had only made his deal a little sooner, he could have revisited his Exorcist heyday by calling the shots on Episode 6: That one revolves around a deadly, um, exorcise program.

I don't really care about the news, but you mentioned my favorite CSI actor. This just gives me another chance to say how much I love his cerebral character (and the hotness that is Gil Grissom) without sounding like a crazy girl. :-p

Any William Petersen fan who hasn't seen To Live & Die in LA is just fronting. A great flick, and you even get to see Billy nekkid if you're quick with the pause button!

Great statement - not into the Billy nekkid bit but it is a FABULOUS movie! I would also have to make the same statement about the movie "Manhunter", Peterson was great!

If Friedkin can do what Tarentino did it will be awesome!

That made me laugh Michael! That's such an 80's classic. Any Petersen fan definitely needs to see it!

Am I sad for loving the Wang Chung soundtrack for this movie? Probably!

Awesome director! Maybe another CSI directing emmy nomination like the one Quentin Tarantino got for Grave danger!

Ranger99, you are obviously a true WP fan! Manhunter rocked and was so much better than that Red Dragon remake.

Another Petersen classic: Fear, where you get to see him shirtless, wet and glistening from the shower. Mmmmm...wet Willy.

At the risk of having lots of people throw stones at me, I love CSI and I adore William Peterson as Grissom but the thought of seeing him wet and naked doesn't appeal to me at all, and it shocks me when I read how many people think of him as S-E-X-Y. Sorry, but you lose me there, I have never thought of him that way. George Clooney in a towel however would really leave me panting!!

"Fear" was a great movie but Billy was younger then and was even hotter then than he is now. I still wouldn't mind seeing him wet and glistening in the shower! I am happy that the Sara/Grissom story line is going to wrapped up. I would like for him to find a decent love interest, though. It works for Mac on CSI: NY.

Hey, Dorjean, I'm NOT gonna throw stones but if you wanna see what all the fuss is about, get a DVD of Hard Promises. Nekkid? No. Sexy? OMG! Then take a look at Kiss the Sky -- older, heavier, but he's still got that ol' magic. To Live and Die in LA and the Wang Chung soundtrack both rock -- it's probably my favorite, even with the absolutely fatal plot flaw (two words: Halliburton, fingerprints). I'm really looking forward to season 8!
