Am I the only one who has found Grey's Anatomy almost unwatchable lately? All of the doctors are wringing their hands over their own whiny little crises, and the patients are relagated to being nothing more than one-dimensional props to help the doctors further kvetch about their petty little "issues". It used to be Meredith was the only insufferably self-indulgent character on the show. Now they all are! I tuned in last week just to see how Addison fit back into the show, but the previous episode was almost the last straw for me!

I don't know how I feel about a House spin-off already. I am thinking it's sort of early, but depends on the character of course. I am guessing he's going to be so hot and awesome that they just won't able to keep him around House for long )))

Has anyone been able to watch the Eric Millegan interview? I can watch the other interviews and the commercial before it, but this specific interview just won't play. Could someone please post a summary?

TV Gord, you're not alone. I've really disliked this season of Grey's (although the last episode was one of the better ones in awhile, courtesy of the awesomeness that is Addison).

Characters I used to like have either become unwatchable (George) or have gotten little screentime (Callie). Plus it seems like no one is allowed to be happy. (What was with breaking up Bailey's marriage? *sigh*) And the whining! Ugh. I don't like Meredith (which sounds odd for me to say) or Derek at all anymore and could care two figs if they end up together. I dislike so many of the character/relationship plotlines and there haven't been any really good patient stories either.

I am giving it through this year (hoping I am not disappointed by the "major kiss") and a couple of episodes next year, but if it doesn't improve, I'm done.

As for NCIS, Michael, I don't expect you to say who is dying, but could you please, please, please spill whether it is a story-based decision or an actor-leaving-based decision? I will hate it no matter what (there are ways to have a character/actor leave besides death!), but I'll deal with it better if it is the latter.

I'm not so sure how a PI spin-off of House would work, but I suppose I'd be willing to give it a try, as I enjoy the original show.

And regarding 13's real name, do you know if it is the one that was seen on the betting slip in the episode "Mirror, Mirror", or are they going to ignore that and give her a new name?

I am glad that there aren't going to be two deaths on Bones; I just wish there weren't any deaths. (Really, PTB, stop with the deaths already!) I also wish they had been able to deal more with Gormagon this season, as I think it would be better spread out more and may be rushed to be squeezed in this season. Oh well.

For whatever reason, I don't really follow a lot of the shows you spoiled this time around. I suppose that could be a good thing, considering the last spoilers you gave for NCIS and Bones! *grin*

TV Gord and Meredith: Hate to break it to you, but Grey's Anatomy is a dramedy, same genre as Gilmore Girls and Brothers & Sisters, which means that the characters get to make mistakes, be whiny, be psychotically self-absorbed -- and, especially, make fools of themselves at the drop of a surgical mask, scalpel or Meredith (the character's) panties.

What I find interesting after seeing fan reaction to characters making huge mistakes on Gilmore Girls and Grey's (among other dramedies) is something that I want to call Fan Panic (semi-sorta named after Gay Panic). Seems like every time a character makes a mistake, the fans who suffer from Fan Panic take it personally and decide that the writers are about to get them, are writing the storylines that way out of spite for the viewers or the network or whatever when all that the shows are doing are taking their Comedic License (as directly opposed to Dramatic License) to tell the stories of the characters doing stupid things that by the nature of comedy are *supposed* to take them down a peg, to make them *lose* either their self-respect or the respect of others and then work to regain it.

Yes, the Grey's Kids (and that's what I call them, The Kids) are *supposed* to be acting childishly. That's absolutely nothing different from the relationships between JD, Elliot, Turk, Carla and Dr. Cox (and practically every other character on Scrubs). Except that Grey's doesn't go surreal every five seconds. Just the one time that Meredith had a near-death experience and talked to Denny Duquette and Red Mist Bomb Squad Guy and Trainwreck Gal. IT's a dramedy, so their reactions are more realistic, sometimes more dramatic, but often just as comedic in its own bantery way.

IOW, sit back, enjoy the sight of bookishly-intelligent but socially-autistic (or in the case of Meredith, out-and-out bipolar) surgeons acting stupidly, it's the point of the series. The show hung a lantern on it when one of the characters compared the interns and residents to High School.

PS: Me lurrrrves Lexie and George together. Me calls them Sexie Gelexie.

I am really interested to know when the FINAL 10 episodes of BSG are going to air. I heard there was supposed to be 20 total this season, only 10 are slated to air post-strike and was wondering when the other 10 are supposed to air. Thanks guys!!

ShutUpRob, I think that most people understand that Grey's Anatomy is about a group of emotionally immature adults who get themselves in and out of predicaments and that many fans are going to be like certain developments, but I believe that many fans are disappointed that there is no balance in the show's writing in this season. As Meredith44 pointed out, so many of the plot lines are just irritating. Every time I watch an episode, I find myself forwarding through a lot of the scenes so I just turn the program off. Other than making money, the purpose of television is to inform and entertain. Grey's Anatomy is not designed to inform but right now it is certainly not entertaining to some people so why should they waste their free time watching it?

Rob, I have to agree with Gord and Meredith.

Sure, the characters are self indulgent at times. But while it's OK for various characters to be self indulgent at various times, when all the characters are like that all the time, it's annoying and no fun to watch.

With a soapy show like that, the characters have to be likable. Or if they're a villian, they have to be fun to hate.

Right now on Grey's, too many of the characters are just completely unsympathetic and unlikable. I have to admit that I've never liked the character Meredith since the show started, but watched because all the other characters were fun to watch. That fun has been steadily declining for a long time.

For example, look at the movie Iron Man. Tony Stark is a complete cretin, but he's HUGE fun to watch. A character can be completely self indulgent and still a blast to watch, but in the case of Grey's they just haven't made it work.

And honestly, comparing Grey's to Scrubs is just an insult to Scrubs.
