Is CSI On the Hunt for a New Jorja Fox?

Although CSI hasn't even pronounced Sara dead yet, it sounds suspiciously like the powers-that-be are already planning to breathe new life into the show by introducing a replacement for Jorja Fox's hot cop.

Executive producer Carol Mendolsohn has told me exclusively that a new female character will turn up in this season's third episode. "[She] may be a CSI or lab tech," the boss said. And, according to my casting spies, the junior detective will be in her mid-twenties, fresh out of college and lacking the capacity for self-censorship.

Of course, this isn't conclusive proof that Sara won't emerge unscathed from her, um, car wreck. But it certainly seems plausible, even likely, considering what else we've learned this week. In an interview with the Orlando Sentinel, CSI exec producer Jonathan Littman said the "Sara-Grissom story line is going to conclude." And you don't get much more definitive closure than death, now do ya?

In any case, at least this much is certain: Fox will appear in the premiere. Says Mendolsohn: "We're certainly going to be seeing her under the car in the premiere." Whether that will require her to act or just to lie very, very still remains to be seen.

I think those rumor you menationed are true, because I read elsewhere CIS powers that be are planning to end the whole Sara-Grissom storyline soon...

Well, too bad, but Ms. Fox dug her own grave by being so greedy and asking for more money. I am so tired of these greedy actors trying to gouge the networks for more money. Good grief, they already make more in one episode than most of us make in 5 years or more. CSI will continue without Ms. Fox and will still be a great show. Hope this convinces other actors to honor their contracts and be happy with what they already have.

The new character sounds like a clone of Holly Gribbs...

I'm happy to hear that Sara may be leaving; I found her character cold and didn't think she added to the cast. I'm also tired of the Gil/Sara romance. I'm actually looking forward to the new season if Sara is going to go.

Well, that is really disappointing. I really liked her character and her relationship with all the other characters on the show. She's not a cookie cutter pretty female that looks and acts like every other "beauty" in hollywood.
And it's easy for someone to write her off as "greedy". We have no idea what's really going on between her and the producers. This is not an easy town to work and live in and she has definitely paid her dues in TV for many many years. Go easy on her.

I was upset when they replaced the other girl with Sara. Now that I've gotten used to Sara, they replace her. It would be nice to keep Sara on as a guest appearance now and again.

Pick a stance and stick with it please. First he reports she will die, then she will live because she is about to re-sign now she will die because they are casting a young maybe lab tech maybe CSI (another Gregg it sounds like).

Oh and he left out part of Jonathan Littman's quote that changes quite a bit "The Sara-Grissom story line is going to conclude, don't take it in that definitive term. It's very smartly done." Sounds to me like the storyline, not the relationship.

I love Jorja Fox.. but for the good of the show and characters, Sara Sidle should die.

Think of it.. they just had the coolest serial killer in TV history.. and to have it that there is no lasting effects cause of her actions... come on!.. how lame would that be.

I want to see Grissom's deal with torment of how even though they caught Natalie... it wasn't without a cost. Now THAT would be awesome Television

The reason I watch CSI is because of William Petersen and Jorja Fox. and since when do people get called greedy for asking for a rise it's not like CBS and Jery Brukhiemer can't afford it.Not that we know she did ask for one.

Thank the powers that be!!!!! I thought she was terrible. Her acting (?) was stiff, she has a lousy speaking voice and certainly didn't dress the part...well, none of them do. Her best spots were off camera !!!!

I completely agree with sfulton229. I'm ready for new blood on the show and I'm not a fan of Sara Sidle--from even before they started the ridiculous Sara-Grissom relationship.

With this news, I guess it is safe to assume we may never see a face-off between the characters of Sara Sidle and Lady Heather (if the producers do not bring back both characters). That is a shame. I think the viewers deserve that. I will miss you, Jorja Fox. Good luck with your career! Take care.

Meanwhile, I hope the producers will find some way to continue to utilize the character, Lady Heather (played deliciously by the red-hot Melinda Clarke)in future episodes. I don't know how since the last time we saw her, it appeared her story line had some closure. Readers, would you like to see more of Lady Heather? If yes, what kind of story would you like to see next? Maybe have her granddaughter kidnapped or what???? I want answers. Please.

And with this news CSI joins the list of shows that I'm waiting for the premiere before deciding whether to ditch it or not.

I may possibly end up with lots of free time on my hands this fall season.
