CBS Promises "Closure" for Jericho Fans

Jericho fans are proving to be da bomb at marshalling their resources.

The monstrous public outcry surrounding the show's cancelation prompted CBS' entertainment president Nina Tassler to take the unusual step of posting the following message at CBS.com over the weekend...

To the fans of Jericho:

We have read your emails over the past few days and have been touched by the depth and passion with which you have expressed your disappointment. Please know that canceling a television series is a very difficult decision. Hundreds of people at the Network, the production company and the incredibly-talented creative team worked very hard to build and serve the community for this show -- both on-air and online. It is a show we loved too.

Thank you for supporting Jericho with such passion. We truly appreciate the commitment you made to the series and we are humbled by your disappointment. In the coming weeks, we hope to develop a way to provide closure to the compelling drama that was the Jericho story.

Sincerely,

Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment

OK, Jericho fans, how would you like your closure served? In the form of a TV movie? A miniseries? A 300-word essay from producers? An Off Broadway show? Post your ideas in the comments section below. Clearly, CBS is paying attention.

I think that a TV movie would be an appropriate way for CBS to bring Jericho to a satisfying conclusion for their fans. C

A mini-series would be good for me - it'd be longer than shoving everything into a 2 hour movie. At this point they could film an entire season and release it on DVD and I'd be a happy camper.

Yay, that's great news! Wish they would decide to "uncancel" it and bring it back midseason or something but oh well. ;)

I think a tv movie is too short to give us good enough closure, but I'll take if. A mini-series (like a week this summer of new eps each night or a 2-hour part once a week or 2 or 3 weeks would make a good miniseries, etc) would be better.

Thanks to CBS for listening and thanks to all the fans who have worked so hard to get our voices heard!

How about some closure for Veronica Mars fans? And what happened inside the bank on The Nine?

I will gladly take a TV movie or a miniseries......just as long as it's not like the 2 2-hour movie episodes we were promised for the "closure" of Deadwood!!!!

This is great for you Jericho fans! Now how about closure for Veronica Mars?

Something like what they did for Farscape would be great

Thanks for this, Mike.

Let's just hope that CBS makes good on this promise.

Bringing it back as a mid season replacement for a 13 episod arc would work for me. I agree with mmph regarding Deadwood. That experience left a bad taste in my mouth I have no desire to repeat.

Color me skeptical, but that's not the way I read that letter. I'm thinking "we'll tell you what was going to happen" is the likely way they intend to provide closure. Maybe something like a graphic novel on their website. I don't see them pouring more money into the show, even as a one time thing. Though that would be nice.

Hooray! :D

I would like to see a mini-series. Six hours would be perfect. It'll give the producers and writers enough to wrap everything up for us fans.

Although, I do want to be greedy and say a second season would be nice, too. ;)

Thanks for the wonderful news!

It'd be great if they produced a TV movie, miniseries, or shortened season to finish things up. I doubt it'll happen, but I'd love CBS if they actually did do something big for the fans. I'm still disappointed Jericho won't be back for a full season this fall. :(

Who knows what it might be... CBS's target market is not the Jericho audience. I don't know how they could wrap it up in a cost efficient way... I guess they could do what they did with Dallas and have a TV movie a couple of years later...
