Breaking: Private Practice, Big Bang Get Full Season

Add Private Practice and The Big Bang Theory to the list of freshman shows getting full-season orders. Additionally, CBS has given the green light to a full season of The Unit.

An ABC spokesperson confirms that the network picked up Private Practice's back-nine, for a grand total of 22 episodes. The gradually-improving Grey's spin-off ranks as the No. 1 new show of the season in adults 18-49.

CBS, meanwhile, confirmed the extensions of Big Bang and The Unit, the latter of which notched its best ratings since February with this week's episode. Big Bang's no slouch either, consistently building on its How I Met Your Mother lead-in.

Reaction? Are you guys as stoked as me about The Unit sticking around?!

Glad to hear about Big Bang Theory. Along with HIMYM, a much better hour than Chuck.

REALLY?? Private Practice? REALLY?

I mean, I’m not saying cancel it by any stretch but it was the most hyped show of the new season and its lost a lot of that steam in the last few weeks. I'm just surprised they put that much faith in it with the lackluster reviews.

They must really want to keep Shonda Rhimes happy.

I am delighted that The Big Bang Theory was picked up for the full season. It is one of the funniest new sitcoms in a long time. I am delighted we will have it for a full season.

The Unit is one of my favorite shows... Last season's finale was incredible, as was the two-part conclusion this season. I didn't even realize there was a chance it wouldn't get a full season order, so I'm glad to hear it's sticking around.

Thomas, I'm sure they're keeping it around to make Shonda Rimes happy, but it is also the TOP RATED new show. You can't just ignore that despite the less-the-stellar reviews.

I'm just hoping that Pushing Daisies will be the next series to get the full season order. Come on ABC.

Woo-Hoo !! The Unit is the best show on CBS IMO so I'm extremely stoked about its full season order ..
Thanks for the news Ausiello :)

Very happy about "The Big Bang" theory; couldn't care less about "Private Practice". I'm officially bored with it.

Yuck, I was hoping Big Bang would go away quickly. I'd much rather see CBS bring back Old Christine in the 8:30 slot.

Private Practice has been improving each week. I haven't given up on it yet.

I'm happy about Private Practice, but mostly because of Paul Adelstein. I loved him on Prison Break, and seeing him as such a different character has been awesome. Oh, and is there any chance I can volunteer to be one of his internet dates?

I'm just waiting to hear about Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money, Samantha Who? and Womens Murder Club. Those are the ones I really want to hear get full season pickups (fortunately Gossip Girl already did)!

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm Michael re: The Unit? I've never heard you mention the show.

Anyway, the first 2 eps of the Unit were really good. The last one wasn't great, the whiny guest stars were so annoying, but got the highest ratings. Weird.

Could care less about PP or BBT. I want New Christine back asap. People are watching PP because there is nothing else on I guess. Bionic Woman isn't living up to what it could be. Isaiah really belongs on Grey's, not BW. What a waste.

I sampled Back to You last night and I actually laughed...who knew?

I really like the Big Bang Theory! Watching these kooky guys very week just makes me chuckle. It's also smartly funny. I knew guys like these in high school and college. I always wondered what kind of maladjusted adults they'd become. I think I have my answer!:^O

I don't get how The Big Bang Theory does so well in the ratings. HIMYM is so much better. When I watch TBBT all I notice is the laugh track that they do every 5 seconds.

Maybe The Big Bang Theory does so well, because it is plain funny. I really think BBT is the type of show that does not appeal to everyone, but the people that like it love it. Personally, I think it is hilarious. I know lots of people that love it, but not everyone.
