Big Scoop! Grey's 2.0 Adds Alias Grad and "Amy"
Grey's 2.0 just got a major infusion of girl power.
Sources confirm that Alias' Merrin Dungey and Judging Amy's Amy Brenneman have joined the cast of the Grey's Anatomy spin-off, er, I mean "the enhanced two-hour Grey's Anatomy episode with a potential for afterlife." Based on recent intel, my guess is Dungey will be playing a psychiatrist, and Brenneman a fertility specialist. But it could be the other way around.
The duo's hiring puts to rest speculation (or concern?) that Kate Walsh would find herself surrounded by a mostly-male ensemble -- buzz that only intensified with the recent casting of Tim Daly, Taye Diggs, Paul Adelstein and Chris Lowell.
Pretty ftaktastic cast, if you ask me. This thing is really gonna have to suck to fail. You agree?

Ummm... yeah! I have been a fan of the idea of a Grey's spinoff since it was first rumored and with a great cast coalescing around Kate Walsh I'm even more psyched.

As always, my excitement over this possible new show is tempered by my fear of Shonda stretching herself too thin and my beloved Grey's suffering as a result. As long as that doesn't happen, I'll be glad. LadyK -- wow. Coalescing. Had to look that one up. not a word I see daily. Way to use your thesaurus.

I didn't want to want to watch this show. I usually hate spinoffs in all forms. But with every new actor added to this "Grey's 2.0" as Mike calls it, I feel like I'm just going to have to give Addison and Co. a shot. They're really putting a great cast together.

I was going to watch just because Addison is one of only 3 people I can still stand on Grey's Anatomy. But I'm glad to see that ABC is going out of their way to put together a strong cast. I just hope they decide to be less soap-operaish than Grey's. I hope they do add more women though but it looks like the cast is a good size already. How about some nurses up in this hospital?

Aww man, they just had to go and add Merrin Dungey! LOVED her on Alias. But I'm still weary of Greys 2.0. This happens with many fabulous shows- the show is a hit, the creator starts getting all these special deals to create more shows, then the creator's attention is too much focused on said new show so old show suffers (J.J. Abrams, Joss Whedon- yes, I'm talking to you!). I do predict that Grey's (the original) will suffer with this new spin-off. They had a perfect ensemble (Kate Walsh added a lot to the balance) and now it's fractioning. A new show in its infantcy needs a lot of attention; I think the fine doctors and interns at Seattle Grace will be the ones to pay the price.

Um...so why exactly was there a problem with it being a mostly male cast?
Anyway, I hate the Grey's 2.0 idea still, but I'm gonna watch it because Addison's one of my favorite GA characters and Tim Daly's yummy.

I'm still not sure how I feel about a Grey's 2.0 in general. BUT, I do like the idea of more Kate Walsh. And the more I hear about the cast additions, the better this show sounds. It'll be interesting to see how things develop...

I think I will dump the original Grey's in favor of 2.0

Mike, any idea on what the time slot is gonna be? Right after Grey's "1.0" or the old time slot on Sundays after DH?
I'm happy about Merrin Dungey, too, I thought she was awesome on Alias, both as Syd's best friend and as "Bad" Francie. I will definitely watch, but I also agree w/the other poster who wrote that these creators spread themselves too thin and then their originals suffer as a result. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Count me in as another more likely to be watching "The Addison Show" than GA next year. I'm so sick of Meredith and McVanity that I could scream, and I just don't look at Burke the same way anymore. But take the awesomeness that is Addison, add Taye Diggs, Merrin Dungey and Tim Daly, and you have something I have GOT to see.

Is it really wrong that I hope Addison's Anatomy does SO well, and Grey's completely loses all of its viewers, since most people are just watching for Addison anyways? No? Good.
