Murder Club Scoop: Harmon Gets a Major Dad

Fallen Jericho patriarch Gerald McRaney has been cast as the estranged pop of Angie Harmon's Lindsay on Women's Murder Club, sources confirm to me exclusively. Dad is described as a dirty ex-cop who has few friends on the force — and that includes his daughter. The two have been estranged for seven years, and his mere presence gives her the creeps. She even refuses to call him "Dad," which is never a good thing (unless you're a Simpson).

McRaney's onboard for one of this season's three post-strike episodes, although he could reappear next season — if there is a next season.

Fleshing out Lindsay's personal life appears to be a top priority for new Club boss Robert Nathan. In addition to a dad, Harmon's bloodhound will be getting a new love interest in the form of The 4400's Joel Gretsch (Ausiello Report 3/17).

Why does anyone care about this show? Is it because it's on ABC, the female and gay male skewing network? This is the same as all of the procedurals on CBS and NBC except a more attractive female cast, yet, Ausiello is constantly yammering about it. Geez.

I'm so glad for Gerald McRaney that he's got a new gig. He was wonderful as the somewhat gruff Mayor Dad in JERICHO last year, and his presence has been missed!

Well I for one like this show but I have to admit the tv movie with Tracey Pollan had a better texture to it. Maybe fleshing out the main characters family life will make it a more solid show. Love Gerald so can't wait to see him. Loved him as Dash Goff on Designing Women. I hope the gorgeous Rob Estes is still around. He has talent and deserves to be on a good show.

WMC is a great show. This great show was blowing the socks off the competition on Friday nights.

I, too, saw the TV movie. It was good but this show is by far so much better. The actresses are excellent and strong.

ABC needs to keep the show on the air and advertise the heck out of it so people will watch the 3 eps. in April.

Hi Mike!

Just a small syntax error:

If he has "few friends" and it "includes his daughter", then his daughter is actually among the few friends... ;) I think you mean it the other way around, right? :)

Good to see Gerald McRaney back on the TV screen, although he should have never been written out of Jericho in the 1st place.

I'm guessing their is alot of love for this show because it's a procedural with Women as the focal characters. I watched 6 of the 1st 10 episodes and thought they were good, but nothing spectacular.

Hi Mr. Wiseguy, I didn't know there were so many shows out there that showed not just one or two, but four smart women characters who are friends and interact professionally? If you have examples, I'd like to know.

As for WMC, there are definitely people who are loving the show, let me guess, for reasons named above. Otherwise, we probably wouldn't have over 12,000 hits at SAVE WMC (http://www.mariskahargitay.org/save_wmc/).

Tastes differ (d'uh). You don't like it, accepted, so live with the fact that a lot of people do, and maybe that's why Mr. Ausiello is talking about it.
