Exclusive: Underbelly Star Joins CSI Sitcom Spoof

It's not Christine Baranski, but this'll do nicely. The sublime Rachael Harris (Notes from the Underbelly, Fat Actress) will play even-tempered sidekick to Cybill Shepherd's Katey Sagal's unhinged sitcom diva in that stuntastic episode of CSI penned by Two and a Half Men scribes Chuck Lorre and Lee Aronsohn.

And should there be any lingering doubts that Lorre and Aronsohn modeled Sagal and Harris' characters after Shepherd and Baranski, both of whom the writers worked with on Cybill, this next little tidbit should erase them: Sources confirm what I hinted at last August, that the duo first offered the second-banana role to Baranski herself. That's right, they wanted Baranski to play Baranski! But for whatever reason — possibly this one — she wasn't able to do it.

Um, have I told you lately how much I'm looking forward to this episode?

I want a cameo by Eddy and Patsy so bad it hurts.

Seriously? SERIOUSLY?!

Okay the first experiment with the dead bodies talking to each other was terrible. Then the second major experiment with Hodges and the lab techs going through a series of "murder games" was AWFUL!

I am not looking forward to this in the least. Let alone an ep by "Two and a Half Men" writers. ::shudders::

I haven't watched csi in a long time but I might have to watch this episode for Rachael Harris. She's awesome on Notes From the Underbelly.

I need to get over to funnyordie.com and see the videos she posted.

I'm looking forward to it - I'm sure the actors like these "special" episodes too

I am actually more curious about what the CSI writers have in mind for Men. I've never watched any of the CSIs, so I'm curious about what Chuck and Lee will do with it, but I can't wait to watch a comedy by the CSI gang!

christine baranski is busy playing "the thelma ritter" role in Boing, Boing on broadway opposite bradley whitford.

even she can't be in two places at once.

Ditto! :^O
I so hope the writers include a scene like the one where "Cybill" dumps a tray of ice down her front to stop her hot flashes...

Seriously-all the drama queens should give the writers a break and not borrow trouble-a "humorous" epi every now and then can only give the audience a break from all the sturm und drag!

Does this mean Notes From the Underbelly is canceled?

SUE518, this is just one episode of CSI, so it doesn't have anything to do with the status of Underbelly. (However, I'd be surprised if it's renewed. It didn't exactly pull in great ratings.)

Oh geez Furley and TVGord - I should know by now to swallow my sip of coffee BEFORE reading your posts....that was beautiful!

I'm surprised Cybill Shepard hasn't filed a defamation suit already. I guess now she knows how Martha Stewart felt?
