Breaking News: Duff Out, Grimes In on 90210 Redux!

Guess Hilary Duff wasn't into that whole 90210 thing after all.

Although the actress/singer had been approached to join the show's growing cast, a spokesperson for the project confirms that Shenae Grimes of Degrassi: The Next Generation has nabbed the role allegedly earmarked for Duff.

Grimes will play Brenda Walsh Annie Mills, a theater-loving teen who relocates to Beverly Hills from Kansas with her adoptive bro and their parents — one of whom will be played by Lori Loughlin.

This is great news for degrassi! Darcy is one of my least favorite characters.

The character of Darcy may be annoying but Grimes really does it well. I'm getting kinda excited for this show now. And oddly enough, she kinda looks like Loughlin

I've never seen the original degrassi, so I can't compare the next generation, but it's lasted longer than the original, so it can't be that bad.

I love degrassi TNG.

This is awesome news. I'll miss her on Degrassi, and I actually think I'll watch the 90210 spin-off now that she's on it.

Duff is not a "horrendus actress". I'm glad she's not going to be on the 90210 spin-off.

I guess no more Darcy on Degrassi then. :o)

this sux! i'm a BIG fan of the original and making a "spinoff" is just lazy and insulting. they're just gonna RUIN it!
ESPECIALLY if they don't ask any of the original cast members. at the most i'll just watch those episodes, if it even gets that far.

Are you guys kiding me with this?! HA HA Listen, I love 90210 as much as the next girl who grew up in the 90's, but have you ever really watched it? Its horrible. Like really horrible. I love it, but to say the spinoff is going to ruin the original is laughable. If the original was debuting in the fall it would be canceled after three episodes. I don't think it will be around long enough for it to ruin anything! HA HA

I agree with you a 110%, I recently started watching 90210 on Soapnet. I can't believe a used to be a fan of that show. The spin-off, unless it has horrible writers can't help but be better.

I have to agree. I watched the original faithfully. I even still watch it on SoapNet. But it was laughable (remember Kelly joining the cult?) But I still love every minute of it.

I'm willing to give the spinoff a try just for nostalgia's sake.

But as mentioned before, its not a true spinoff unless at least one original character returns

I watched some of the original 90210 and it wasn't all that great but it was kind of a guilty pleasure...I really don't think this show is going to ruin the other one.

On a bit of another topic, what channel is this show going to air on? And when does it start airing?
