Exclusive: Samaire Armstrong Out of Money

Dirty Sexy Money will be down a Darling next season.

Samaire Armstrong, who plays Juliet, brat-astic celebutante and fraternal twin to Jeremy, will not be returning to the series full-time, sources confirm to me exclusively. A spokesperson for ABC Studios declined to comment, but a Dirty Sexy insider tells me that producers decided not to pick up Armstrong's contract option. The actress is, however, expected to appear on a recurring basis, her schedule permitting.

Last October, Armstrong entered a treatment facility for undisclosed reasons. Producers were forced to write her out of an episode, but she was back on air the following week. Whether or not Armstrong's personal issues contributed to her demotion from series regular to occasional guest star is anyone's guess.

Hey, I just thought of something: This probably explains why Seth's onetime O.C. crush was conspicuously missing from Tuesday's Dirty Sexy Money panel at Paley Fest. That's what they call putting two and two together.

Good, that means less scenes I'll have to "Sookie."

Hopefully she can appear again on Entourage now, she was great in that!

Not a great loss, to be honest.

I didn't think she was anything but a marginal actress, and personally, I would rather they re-cast the part, than keep her on in any capacity.

She wasn't exactly a fully-fleshed character yet. I think they should recast.

I agree with schpoopty and TV Gord her character wasn't really prominent on the show. She and her sister (Karen) aren't my favorites they reminded me of a the typical spoiled rich child image who cares more about their image and lacks maturity.

I don't think they should recast her character until they change the character itself. For instance, her actually getting a job or trying to grow up like her brother Jeremy.

Does anyone know when new episodes begin? Will it be a continuation from season 1 or start of a new season?

Dirty Sexy what? It's been so long since I saw the show that I completely forgot that it was on! I don't care who's on the doggone thing or not, just get me some new episodes already!

Paging Emma Samms...

DSM was picked up for a second season. This season's last three eppies are being held until its fall premiere.

Sorry. Harris4, I wouldn't like to see the character changed. It's realistic for a family such as the Darlings to have a shallow, vapid Paris-type in it. I wouldn't want to see her turned into Ally McBeal.

And 4word, why page Emma Samms? To play Juliet's grandmother??? ;)

The show doesn't have a full season under its belt yet, so if they intend to have the character play a prominent role in the series, they should just recast the part. Making the switch at the beginning of the new season would be a good time to do it.

TV Gord - I think 4word was just reminding us of the re-cast of the Fallon Carrington character on Dynasty, played by Emma Samms. Not only did she not look like the original actress, but she had an English accent.

Oooooh, thanks, Schpoopty! I wondered if there was some connection I was missing. Got it now.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to find the magic marker so I can draw a big 'L' on my forehead!:_|

The O.C., Entourage, and DSM. That's three shows now where she has had a fairly prominent role in the first season only to disappear in future seasons. Maybe she just has a problem with the people she works with. Because I didn't really see a reason for her character to be written out of Entourage. Although, Rex Lee is great as Lloyd.

I'll miss her and Jeremy twin connection moments.
