Exclusive: Full Monty Star Joins 24 Prequel Pic!

Check your watches Ausholes, 'cause I'm pretty sure it's time for some 24 scoop!

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Scottish thesp Robert Carlyle (The Full Monty) has been cast in Fox's upcoming 24 prequel movie as Benton, Jack's mentor in Africa.

As Fox announced this morning, the two-hour telepic, shot on location in South Africa, will air on Nov. 23 and bridge the gap between Day 6 and Day 7. Carlyle's role is not expected to spill over into the drama's seventh season, but, well, this being 24, nothing's set in stone.

Fun piece of casting, no? (I was going to say cheeky, but I thought better of it.)

Ooh I love Robert. After the horrible mess they called s6, I might actually have to watch this prequel and give 24 another chance.

Great news! Kiefer and Carlyle had some great scenes together in To End All Wars.

He joins the list including Dennis Hopper, Lou Diamond Phillips, Greg Ellis and Bill Smitrovich of actors who've previously worked with Kiefer in both movies and 24.

Some bad ass casting right there...... Still can't get some of those scenes from 28 Weeks Later out of my mind. You know the whole gouging people's eyes out and oh yeah, smashing Rose Byrne's head in....

Benton's evil, called it. Jack's father was a "mentor", Christopher Henderson was a "mentor", President Logan was a "mentor". Mentor in 24 language means evil. Please don't "season six" us and make Benson predictably evil 24, please.

I've never watched a single episode of 24, but with Robert Carlyle in this movie, I'm all over it.

Robert is a very intense actor. If he can play "HItler" so effectively then being Jack's mentor is a piece of poundcake. Can't wait for this movie but still we have a summer to enjoy and see the gas prices go bonkers for us poor schnooks.
