Exclusive: Grey's Recruits Two Carnivale Grads!

Amy Madigan has booked a multi-episode arc on Grey's Anatomy, sources confirm to me exclusively. The Oscar-nominated thesp — and former co-star of HBO's gone-but-not-forgotten Carnivale — is playing a psychiatrist who, and I'm just speculating here, may be the one to help Meredith get over her commitment issues, thus paving the way for the Mer/Der reunion Shonda Rhimes has been hyping.

Meanwhile, Madigan's former Carnivale co-star, Clea DuVall, will fill the "everywoman housewife" role I teased in last week's Ask Ausiello. Her George Clooney-esque husband will be played by Jason O'Mara (Men in Trees, In Justice). I'm guessing one of them will be a patient. Both are on board for two episodes.

Oh, Carnivale, how I miss thee….

Carnivale was a good show. HBO did not give it a fair shot!

The mention of Carnivale always is bitter sweet. I still remember watching the pilot episode back in 2003. Although I didn't continue watching it at the time, I caught up on it this past year on DVD.

But I usually think of Field of Dreams when I hear Amy Madigan's name. And Clea Duvall had a small but good part in Zodiac, which I just watch the other day.

Multiple episodes of Meredith's therapy sessions? Haven't we heard her whine enough about her problems for 4 seasons? Can't she go to therapy off screen so we don't have to listen to her yet again say "I'm a girl with abandonment issues"? Its not like we haven't heard it for 2 seasons already.

Really like both actresses though!

I want "Carnivale" back. :(
That show was one of the best shows to ever air on television.

As for "Grey's Anatomy": I'm so over it. I haven't even the last couple of episodes that aired before they ran out of episodes.

Well, let's hope that she'll be there to help DEREK deal with HIS issues!! Like why can't he be alone? WHY ON EARTH can't he wait & be there for the woman he "loves". And WHY THE F... does he think he must get married RIGHT NOW in the next 5 minutes, and that if the woman he "loves" isn't quite ready for that yet (with all the lies he told her & the fact he chose another woman instead of her TWICE! Gee, I really wonder why she is insecure?! *roll eyes*), well he'll just go with someone else! On the same DAY that he broke up with Mer!

Yep, our dear -McDreamy but not so dreamy at all- has too a great need to see a shrink.

Mer and Der are both damaged. I think it's unfair to pin all the blame of Meredith. I mean, I know they are characters of a t.v. show, but I am kind of tired of the stereotypically chastised flaky female and the stereotypically romanticized flaky male.

I am excited about this. Hopefully the psychiatrist will be there for ALL of them. I mean, they all need therapy!

I miss Carnivale too. I may watch an episode if Clea Duvall is going to be in it. I don't really care what happens to Mer/der.

Will you let people know when Clea and Kate Walsh's episodes will be?

I don't normally like to climb onto conspiracy theories (OH, who am I kidding, of COURSE I do!!!), but I'm starting to believe those who say this website DOES look for the absolute worst pictures that can be found of its subjects.

Honestly, they couldn't find a better picture of Amy Madigan?

Clea Duvall is probably more pissed than any of us that Carnivale got the broom - her character's part was about to explode.

Whatever happened to Nick Stahl? I really miss that show as well.....

Jason O'Mara is the dreamiest dreamboat in all of dreamy dreamy boat land. I would actually watch Grey's Anatomy if he were on there. Loved In Justice and sad that ABC wasn't willing to give it a chance.
