Exclusive: Lori Loughlin Is 90210's New Cindy Walsh!

Hey, Carol Potter, it's time to pass the baton!

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Lori Loughlin has been tapped to play "the mom role" on the CW's upcoming 90210 update. She joins a growing cast that includes Runaway's Dustin Milligan and Nip/Tuck's AnnaLynne McCord.

Assuming CW doesn't veer too far from Rob Thomas' original vision — his pilot script is currently undergoing a rewrite by What About Brian's Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah — Loughlin, 43, will play Celia Mills, an ex-Olympic athlete who relocates to Beverly Hills with her husband (BH High's new principal) and two children. As first scooped by my frenemy at E!, Hilary Duff has been approached to play Loughlin's daughter, Annie.

This isn't Loughlin's first dalliance with an Aaron Spelling property. The former Full House inhabitant starred in the Spelling-produced Summerland, which lasted two seasons on the WB.

Thoughts on Loughlin as Cindy Walsh 2.0? Thumbs up? Thumbs down? Thumbs in between? Sound off below!

Good choice. Lori Laughlin is way more of a milf than Carol Potter.

She'll be OK, however I think if this is to be considered a spinoff then some original characters should be back. Without any originals I won't be watching!

Okay - not to date myself but I have been in love with this girl ever since she did the movie Secret Admirer.

I don't get it, is it like a next generation thing with the same story lines...a new family moves into BH with a set of twins who have to try and fit in with BH High students? Are they 'reenacting' so to speak, the original spelling series? Either way, love the idea, love lori loughling, but like some of the others said, I won't be watching without some of the alumns.

Hey Ranger99, I remember that movie(and of course just dated myself). The future Mrs. John Travolta, Kelly Preston played Deborah, the skank and Lori played the reliable best friend Toni who was secretly in love with C Thomas Howell character (who I can not remember his name). Okay, and yes, I remember her on Edge of Night too. I used to watch it with my mom.

I had a dream about this show and Brian Austin Green was on it with a baby.

I would love it if Shannen Doherty returned though. She could be a teacher at the high school.

Does anybody besides me remember her in the movie "The New Kids?"

And my theory is that on the new 90210, she's going to play someone who sues a company when she realizes that you *can* spend too much time in a fake tanning booth. Chaos ensues when the defense's expert witness, a dermatologist, declares on the witness stand that "she tans naturally" and she yells, "But the sun DOESN'T turn me into a freaking OOMPA LOOMPA!" before she's dragged kicking and screaming out of the courtroom for a 15 minute recess while her own expert witness, Doctor . . . uh, Doug, re-inspects her body -- oh, and her tan, too.

Good choice, loved her on Full House. Now the next casting scoop I wanna hear is that Shannen Doherty is joining the show as Brenda and that her character will be the schools acting teacher!
