Exclusive: Khandi Alexander Departs CSI: Miami

OK, now this is getting downright ridonkulous.

For the third time this week, I'm bringing you exclusive news about yet another cast shake-up at a hit procedural. This time 'round, the show in question is CSI: Miami and the departing thesp is Khandi Alexander.

Although CBS declined to comment, a Miami insider confirms that Alexander — who has played medical examiner Alexx Woods since day one — is leaving at the end of the season. What's the story behind this exit? I'm not 100 percent certain, but, from what I gather, it wasn't one of those mutual deals we've been hearing about so much lately. Let's just say Alexander had some, um, issues with a certain aspect of the show and leave it at that, K?

Meanwhile, Miami's on the prowl for a new medical examiner to succeed Alexander, and word on the street is the newbie will have male genitalia.

Sad to see Alexander go? Yes? No? Pick one and, please, elaborate away in the comment section. And if you have any predictions/leads on who'll get canned next, by all means, share it with the class.

Didn't she do the same thing to NewsRadio?! But seriously... we should take all the departing characters and make a new show. We've already got an ADA, a CSI, and a Coroner. We just need a lawman...

She won't be missed, however she's not nearly as annoying as she used to be, when she talked to the dead people in her "baby" voice.

I am one of the many "original" fans of CSI Miami....My comment about the departure of Khandi is to CBS Big Wigs. When are you guys and gals going to identify the true stars and find ways to keep them. You will never find a person to play the part of medical examiner better than Khandi. Her voice and sensitivity and respect makes you believe she is indeed dealing with a dead body. I was always hoping they would expand her role, however, maybe give her a personal life with a new romance. Go back to the bargaining table and keep her!

I don't know how many people I've heard agree about her talking to the dead bodies in her baby voice calling them "honey" and "sugar". How disgusting is that? Someone has issues. She could have had potential, perhaps it was just her character I couldn't get into.

As someone who was a big fan of her work on Newsradio and The Corner, thank god her talents will no longer be put to waste. Hopefully she'll find a strong next project.

I'm sad to see that Khandi Alexander is leaving. She played a very powerful figure on the show and I will miss her. It seems no one is safe anymore. :(
