Exclusive: Friday Night Star Sprints to Heroes

OK, maybe this week won't be completely doom-and-gloomy after all.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that the enchanting Brea Grant — who made quite the impression as Landry's short-lived rebound girl on Friday Night Lights — is joining the cast of Heroes next season as The Speedster.

As you'll recall, last month I reported that Heroes was casting the role of Joy, who's "quick on her feet — and adept at getting herself into and out of trouble."

Let me be the first to congratulate Tim Kring and his team on a job very well done. Who's going to be the second?

I liked her on FNLs. The only problem I had with her was that she was getting in the way of Landry and Tyra. Tyra is my favorite female character on the show, so of course if Tyra wasn't getting her way, or she didn't like someone, I didn't either (although I would've been happy if it ended up being her and Landry instead of Tyra and Landry).

They could cast Keri Russell, Lauren Graham, and Mariska Hargitay and I still wouldn't be excited. ENOUGH WITH THE NEW CHARACTERS ALREADY! Did they learn nothing from the annoying twins??

Is it bad that I just don't care about Heroes anymore? I mean I've seen every episode from the very beginning, but with hectic scheduling from the TV strike, a truly lackluster second season, and a first season that I enjoyed but didn't care much about, I honestly do not care about Heroes.

It's the kind of show that I don't care about until it's on. When I'm watching it, I enjoy it, but when it's over, I completely forget about it.

I thought she was awesome on Friday Night Lights so I am excited about this..but then again I was also excited when Kristen Bell was announced. I will hold judgement until it comes back and hopefully it will make up for the underwhelming second season.

I agree with you, sirsquinty. I was like, "what's Heroes" when I first saw the story. Then I realized, "OH!" I'm so worked up about Burn Notice, and Psych, even though they are still months away, that I just can't think about stuff happening in the fall.

The first time I saw her on FNL, I was like "Is that Kristen Bell?"
Hehe.

She was pretty good, glad to see her get some work... and on Heroes!

waaah! I didn't like the second season! Is there no such thing as loyalty anymore?

New characters keep the show fresh! You don't meet new people in your life? Loved this girl on FNL, but she was in the way of Tyra and Landry, as someone said. She'll be a great addition.

as far as adding new characters- with a show like Heroes- you kind of have to. 90% of the existing characters have interacted with one another in some way, adding new characters is the only way to keep things moving. if you keep having the same 2 characters fight each other, pretty soon they will know all of each other's tricks and it will all become stale. having new people, with different instincts and reactions to things, is the way to go.

having said that, the twins (much like Niki and Paolo on Lost) were horrible and don't serve a purpose (yet).

What an idiotic move! Concentrate on the existing characters, keep named people off the roster and get the dang thing back on the air. You have a lot of work to do to make HEROES a classic and so far it's only popcorn fare.

Hollywood execs and casting agents are doofs and only get a lightning strike once in a blue moon. HEROES is one of them and there they go with their traditional "brainstorming" sessions thinking they can make an already waxed Chevy a lot more shinier.

Incredible!

Best. Move. Ever.

Now I'm (slightly) less pissed about Landry dumping her for Tyra B-)

I really liked her on FNL. So this makes me slightly interested in Heroes again.

Heroes has yet to prove that they can add new characters that don't suck.

Get the show on track with the characters you already have before diluting it even more with newbies.
