Exclusive: Oops… Is Brit Doing CBS' Mother Again?

Hmmm… if this keeps up, people are going to start whispering that maybe she's the mother.

Britney Spears and How I Met Your Mother are looking to rekindle their mutually beneficial relationship later this season. According to multiple sources, Brit's in talks to reprise her role as Barney's fraternal twin Ted's stalker in at least one more episode. "It all depends on her availability," whispers an insider.

Brit's first go-round on Mother was a resounding success for all concerned: The yet-to-be-renewed CBS sitcom received a much-needed ratings boost and Spears made headlines for doing something other than driving to her local Starbucks.

It's not clear whether this would also signal the return of Brit's boss, Sarah Chalke, whose impeccable comic timing as Ted's crush elicited shock and awe from critics despite the fact that she's been hitting comedic home-runs for seven freakin' years on Scrubs! Get with the program, people!

Anyway, back to Brit: Would you be happy to see her visit Mother again? Or is our little gem of a show selling its soul (again) for ratings? Sound off below!

No more, please! She was barely tolerable, and Sarah Chalke was the one to really shine in the episode. Please don't let her schedule allow it, scheduling angels!

I'm not jumping up and down about this news--but if this is what it takes to keep HIMYM on the air then I will be able to tolerate it. As long as that's all they have planned.

Long-time fans know that the show is able to stand on its own without relying on any guest stars (just look at Monday's episode!). But, like I said, I'm willing to see Britney one more time if it means another season (or two...).

I watched for the first time to see Britney and I would watch again, her character was entertaining.

Ditto. They gave her some funny lines and she was pretty good with them. If it makes sense, story-wise, let them do it again.

But, let's hope they manage to link Sarah Chalke in again as well. She was awesome.

don't really care much about her character one way or another. i didn't think she was too terrible of an actress for the part... (i think people forget that she did have some early acting expereince on the mickey mouse club).
but if it'll get good ratings for the show and it means sarah chalke is coming back too, i'm all for it.
besides - i want to see a scene between her and jason segal.

If a second appearance by Britney Spears is what it takes to secure a fourth season for Mother, then I'm ok with it.

Well that would certainly be a jump the shark moment if there ever was one.

Britney essentially playing her own nutjob self was tolerable because she didn't have to act. I suppose it could be tolerable again if her screen time is once again very limited. If it brings Sarah Chalke back then ok. As I've said before there are worse choices for guest stars then Britney, Paris Hilton being one of them.

I think the reason for this is that as a whole Scrubs sucks (I gave it multiple chances in more then one season). It doesn't have an ounce of funny, yet somehow survives, much like According to Jim. So Sarah Chalke flying under the radar is completely understandable.

I think she was pretty funny with what she was given. If it would help the ratings, I think it's a win win situation.

As I read this, I died a little inside.

I don't know what I think about that.

Though I want to add it should be
"seven frickin' years".

Please, no more Britney. And if she turns out to be THE mother, then the terrorists have won.

(p.s. A big YES to more Sarah Chalke.)

Ausiello...you give Sarah Chalke way too much credit. She's much better on Scrubs than she was on this show. Mandy Moore, Danika McKellar, and Jane Seymour all turned in better guest roles.

...And Britney did a fine job with the tiny part she had in the episode.

Ugh

I'd rather have Britney back than Sarah Chalke, but if I had my druthers we'd never see either of them again. They add nothing to the show imo.
