Ausiello Scoop: Angel's Amy Acker Joins Dollhouse - Ausiello Report

The mystery as to which Buffyverse grad Joss Whedon was considering for Dollhouse has been solved!

Early this morning, Whedon announced on his blog that Angel vet Amy Acker is joining the show's cast in the recurring role of Dr. Claire Saunders, the smart yet sad looker-after of the dolls who may or may not have a crush on nerdy programmer Topher (Fran Kranz).

Love. It.

Whedon also confirmed that Miracle Laurie has been tapped to play plus-sized doll November, whose comforting and radiant presence tends to get her fewer of the criminal gigs and more of the personal ones.

Amy Acker irked the heck out of me as Fred on Angel. Hopefully that was just the character and not the actress, because I am interested in this new show.

Here's Miracle Laurie's IMDB page. One guest spot on a show called Medical Investigation. I have faith in Joss. He's found some great unknown actors before.

This show sounds interesting but I can't help wondering if the ultimate goal is to employ every actor in Hollywood on this show? Seriously, doesn't it seem like the cast just keeps growing and growing? I hope they'll all wear name tags for the first few episodes until I get to know them all. (I confuse easily.)

I didn't like Amy Acker on Angel but I loved seeing her as a villainous on Alias. I can't figure out what the heck this show is about but Amy Acker is a good casting choice.

This character sounds like Fred in season 5 of Angel, when she was working for Wolfram and Hart. Reluctant scientist working for the evil organization. Amy Acker has some great range. If you didn't like her as Fred, you probably didn't see her transformation into Illyria and the way that character would switch back to Fred mode. She's a great actress.

I've always thought she was cute. I bought the DVDs for HIMYM after recently getting into it, and when I saw her as the rain dance instructor I was wondering what she was up to. As always, Ausiello brings the scoop.

To my knowledge, Miracle Laurie has done a lot of theatre work, so I guess she's not completely inexperienced.

Miracle Laurie is pretty and can drive a stick, so she can be my wife Seriously though, checking her page at her management site, she speaks with many accents, which is required for the role http://maiermanagement.com/women/pages/miraclelaurie.htm

Hey TV Guide Folks - Thanks for the confirm, but one correction: Whedonesque is *not* Joss' blog. He posts there from time to time it is true, however, it is not his. A simple trip to the "about" section would confirm this. Sheesh!
