Just How "Shocking" Will Warrick's CSI Exit Be?

080515pre-csi-finale.jpg
CSI finale - Gary Dourdan by Bill Inoshita/CBS
Get ready for "the most shocking episode of CSI ever," according to exec producer Carol Mendelsohn. Given that past finales have featured Nick (George Eads) buried alive and a shocking revelation that Grissom (William Petersen) and Sara (Jorja Fox) had been sleeping together, they've got a lot to live up to.

But Mendelsohn promises they'll deliver. "It's a very personal episode," she says. Warrick (Gary Dourdan) finds himself in more trouble following past episodes in which he was suspected of murder and suspended while investigating a Vegas mobster. The result is that sides will be drawn, and as TV Guide has reported, Dourdan — who was recently arrested — is leaving CSI.

The question remains how. Mendelsohn says, "No one will ever forget it, and it will change the show forever."

The previews brought to mind this week's exit of Detective Lake on Law and Order: SVU...a very similar story?

I like Dourdan and am sorry he has the kind of personal problems that have cost him his job on CSI. I think he had great chemistry with Marg, and it's sad to see him go. I wish him the best.

Hopefully, he will one day enjoy the type of comeback that Robert Downey Jr. is having right now. Maybe they are not looking for a replacement because the producers are leaving the door open for the future? We'll see...

Can't wait to see which actress will join the cast next season. That should be interesting, coming into such an established cast and being accepted.

CSI is still a great show and deserves to remain at the top. I love it!

Awwww, first Sara and now Warrick? It's definitely a shame. He did have great chemistry with Catherine and will be sorely missed.

I agree, CSI is still a great show. I'm not saying it doesn't have flaws and some really cheesy one-liners, but it is very creative and I love how they play with the format and reference everything from Shakespeare and other literature to music. It is much better than the really very extremely cheesy and unintentionally funny CSI: Miami and the forced "character development" of CSI: NY. The characters of CSI are endearingly quirky and entertaining.

I'm hoping they don't kill him off, though since they let Sara and Nicky live, Warrick might be out of luck. They could do it just for the ratings draw in and that would be shocking I suppose.

Maybe since Warrick is tied in with killing some mob guy, Grissom will fudge some facts about the case to keep Warrick out of jail? Or something like that. For Griss to do that would be pretty shocking. :) IMO.

Either way I wish Gary good luck in his life and I hope he comes out alright. He might even be able to come back in the future! *crosses fingers*

I'm sorry to see him go but I hope the show lets him leave with some dignity AND hope his leaving the show shakes him off enough to get his life back in gear. Would hate if he went more off the deep end because of it.

Love the show, and LOVED Warwick, and hopefully this will not leave a hole in the show. Doubt it. CSI is SO GOOD and there are SO MANY great ensamble players that even when Gris goes on sabattical we're all still THERE waiting for him to come back, and as long as GIL comes back, I think we'll continue to have a HOT show, because the writers handle the changes well.

Good luck Gary. Kill your demons and get on with it. You're too good (and cute!) to leave yourself without a future, so here's to better "personal" times.

I, too, hope that Gary gets his life in order. Sometimes people don't realize what a good thing they have until it's gone (See: David Caruso and "NYPD Blue").

As for the storyline, I agree: don't kill Warrick. But also, don't send him to jail either. So what does that leave? Have him hook up with Catherine and send him to another unit in a different city.

I'd read that Dourdan will be back for a few episodes next season? If that's true, then Warrick won't be killed off.

I'm also sad to see him go, but wish him the best.

I'm glad they're wrapping up this case though--I wondered why they dropped it after the strike ended.

his personal problems had nothing to do with him leaving CSI, his contract ran out BEFOREhis arrest

His contract may have run out before his arrest.. but from the scoops i have read on this site, it looks like he was let go for personal reasons.

In the case of Dourdan, an insider at the show insists that he and CSI execs "mutually agreed" to part ways for "creative reasons." However, a CBS mole claims the 41-year-old actor was essentially fired, adding that producers are trying to be "as supportive and protective" of him as possible by portraying the departure as mutual. That same mole wasn't willing to share the specific reason for Dourdan's ouster, except to say that it involves an "ongoing problem personal to Dourdan."

From Aussielo Scoop from April 17th.

I don't know how true it is, but in light of his subastance abuse issues... it would make sense that this would be the reason he was let go and then he was arrested.

His contract may have ran out before the arrest, but he's had problems way before the contract ran out. So that's probably the reason for the supposed agreement for him to leave between himself and the show. He had run ins with running down photographers, getting in fights, going out drinking and doing more of the above, etc. So his problem just escalated with the arrest, but some issues were there before the contract was over and done.

he's had "issues" long before this recent arrest, that kind of partying will definitley catch up with you. i hope he gets it together too.

i love the suggestion of he and catherine getting together, and him being transferred. and wouldnt her getting preggo by warwick be a "huge shocker"?!?!

Very upset that Warrick is leaving, I was also upset when Jorja left as well. I am afraid with all of this they are going to end the show. I love the show and all the cast members. It will be sad.

I am so sick of of watching this show be torn apart. This is one of the best CSI shows and i watch them all,so why destroy the body of characters. All i can say now is that warrick better be back with all the rest of the characters for next season

I started to cry!!! Why on Earth would the cast start to break-up? I agree that this is the best cast on the CSI shows. But to kill off my favorite character, Warrick, is heart breaking. I truly hope they can find it in their hearts to bring him back somehow, but those final wounds are showing no chance of that happening.
