Grey's Anatomy's George and Izzie: Where Were We?

Our series of Grey's refreshers continues with a look at the highly controversial pairing of George and Izzie.
The Couple: George (T.R. Knight) and Izzie (Katherine Heigl)
Where They Were: From the beginning of the show, George and Izzie have always been there for each other, especially when an STD (the syph) or LVAD wire-cutting was involved. The real test in their friendship came after George's dad died. George was so messed up that he flew to Vegas to marry Callie, again proving he isn't the sharpest scalpel in the OR. Despite the damage the marriage did to his friendship with Izzie, it only took one night of poor decisions to send George and Izzie spiraling toward a bad, bad (naughty bad) place. After some hot, drunken sex, Izzie and George realized that maybe what they've been looking for was right in front of them all along. The pair confessed their feelings for one another, and George ended his marriage with Callie. But there's just one problem: The couple's had some serious trouble recreating the hot sex they had that first time around. Whether they are both too tired or they're fumbling around in the bathtub (which they will "never speak of again"), George and Izzie have proven that they're both still interns when it comes to bedside manner.
Where They're Headed: Izzie and George agreed that their timing was off and that they don't have the right chemistry as a "couple." It's going to be interesting to see if they can maintain the same level of intimacy in a friendship. Maybe they'll be best together as f--k buddies — after work they can hit Joe's and then stumble home together for more steamy romps, and then act like everything is normal the next day!
Possible Roadblocks: Callie could pop up pregnant (pure speculation) or at the very least make George and Izzie's time on duty a living hell. And it wouldn't be Grey's if new love interests from the mind of Shonda didn't pop up to throw a possible glitch into future "Gizzie" hookups. Also, do we think Alex and Izzie are over for good? No way. Should Ava dump Alex for good, he'd be back on the Izzie train in a flash — but this time, for the right reasons. — Erin Fox

I just hope that I can get back to LIKING George and Izzie!
Izzie has become whiny, self-righteous, and very needy. She needs Christina and Mer to be her bff too? WTF?! Did Mer and Christina ever b!tch and moan about not being included in on of Gizzie's little activities? No. Also, with Izzie, quit whining about your speciality! Just stop whining period.
George. ::tsk, tsk:: George, George, George. Again, this character has gotten unlikable (although not to the depths of Izzie-unlikable) and, I'm sorry, but sleeping with way too many women for who he is, both physically and personality-wise (without trying to create discussion 54967856907 about the likelihood of this happening in real life). He was introduced as an underdog for a reason. He has developed a backbone (season 2) and was still loveable George.
Really writers, please give me a reason to want to watch the show again! Right now it is a chore to watch this shell-of-its-former-self program. Please start with these two former fan favorites!

I love George and Izzie together more than I have ever loved any couple on TV. Sure they have their haters but they have a really big and loyal fanbase too. On fanforum, we recently got our 300th fan, only MerDer has miore. On Livejournal, the George and Izzie LJ has 505 fans.
All my friends offline watch for those two and many quit after episode 7 as they felt Shonda had betratyed all the Gizzie fans.
And yes, guys like George get girls like Izzie all the time in real life. Proof is katie had a huge crush on TR when they met and he is the one who did not want her. Her hubby is not Mr-beautiful either. Billy Joel, Fez from theat 70 show, David Spade, the guy from Scrubs, all non-conventional hot guys who have dated super beautiful women.
And george is hot, he has gorgeous eyes, beautiful eyelashes and a smile that makes you melt in a puddle, pklus he can kiss, witness the elevator kiss, about the hottest kiss on the entire show history and one of the most watched scenes on Youtube.
Hmm, to the author of the article, do you even watch the show?
George and Shonda quite clearly said the problem had NOTHING to do with their chemistry as a couple, it was ALL the guilt and the timing and the pressure.
For goodness sake, they couldn't even kiss anymore and we all know they can do this extrenmely well, elevator SOBER super hot kiss rings a bell?
Gizzie is why I watch so I will not watch until they are back together. If they never are, I will never watch again.
And God, my friends and I all HATE Alex and Izzie, as in they make us puke.
We will all leave in droves if this happen.
Izzie never loved Alex, she rejected him three times, he was living in the moment sex to her.
George is her soulmate, true love and eprson, not to mention her first time with him, he gave her the best sex of her life.

Exactly, a recent Australian poll done after that horrendous episode 7, the one where Shonda stabbed all of us Gizzie fans in the back, had 77% disagreeing with Shonda and saying Gizzie was great together and had hot chemistry. 51% of people named them their favorite couple in Grey history.
It is clear that Shonda caved in to the haters because George and Izzie have amazing chemistry.
It seems she onl;y frequents TWOP, ABC and this place because I have been to many sites where the majority of people love Gizzie.
This site hates them but many of us watch for those two.
I had so many friends dump the show when Gizzie ended because they watched the show just for them, they said Shonda would always pick the haters ahead of them.
I watch for Gizzie and I am sticking around to see how they are treated. If they are ended for good, I am dumping this crappy show, they are the only good thing on it.
And Alex and Izzie make me puke, hence the nicknamke created for them, Lexziepuke.
All they ever were was some porny sex without chemistry. george and Izzie have more chemistry carressing fingers like they did in episode 4.5 that Alex and Izzie had in all their disgusting sex scenes.
If Shonda continues to ignore all of us Gizzie fans, I will never watch this

Yes Gizzie is controversial, according to the official Grey mag, half the people love them and half hate them. I love them as do most people I know who never post on the Internet. They were shocked to find out many people hated them on the Net because most of the people they knew off it loved those two. Anyhow, it is pretty clear which side Shonda has picjked and it is not the Gizzie fans' side.
Despite all this, I will not give up hope. I can't, I tried, but like we Gizzie fans say, once a Gizzie fan, always a Gizzie fan.
No couple even come close.
Your like joke about them being f*cking says it all about this site and the people who post here.
You really don't get George and Izzie at all if you can make a comment like that.
Alex and Izzie could be f*cking buddies as they are just sex and have always been.
George and Izzie actually LOVE each other, they have a purer love than any couple on TV, this is why we love them so much, the purity of their love, the unconditionality of it, I don,t expect you to ever get that.
Most Gizzie haters hate Gizzie because they don't find George hot enough as if love had anything to do with looks.
George and Izzie are lovers, soulmates, true love and they have a chamistry that jumps off the screen, which is probably why we never got the second kiss because nobody would have bought the no-chemistry cr*p then.
TR and Katie have more chemistry than any two actors on this show.
And watch the show correctly, they never admitted they ahd no chemistry as a couple, in fact they agreed it was NOT the chemistry but the timig. I should know, I watch Gizzie scenes religiously.
Many of my friends have quit the show over Gizzie ending, I don't blame them but this Gizzie fan will always fight for them even though sites like youurs will always act like we don,t exist, always make fun of this wonderful couple and always try their best to make sure this couple never comes back together.
Well most Gizzie fans I know on the net are in to this fight until the end. We are not giving up and never will.
And Alex and Izzie have ZERO chemistry and are the poorest excuse for a couple I have ever seen so they better not go back there

George and Izzie are why I watch, the ONLY reason I watch, so come on Shonda give me a reason to watch and oput them back together where they belong. And do not even dream of putting Alex and Izzie together, that is the one thing certified to make me leave the show for good.

If there is a God, Alex and Izzie or Lexziepuke as we so affectionally call them, will never see the light of day again. They make me and my girlfriend puke, which is not too conducive to our romantic nights.
On the other end, my girlfriend and I are crazy about George and Izzie, what other couple can make putting pants ON hot or can look so totally in love and perfect for each other and so full of chemistry as they dance after they break up.
if there is any justice, George and Izzie will be together, their love is a beautiful thing and they have more chemistry than any couple on TV.
They are what kept us watching after the two bad seasons we had.
And yes if you think Gizzie can have sex without love, you really don't get them at all, they are not Lexziepuke, thank God!

George and Izzie are the hottest, sweetest, loveliest couple on TV, their chemistry is undeniable whatever Shonda tries to make us believe. I will always root for them no matter what happens, they are the show for me.
I hope Shonda realizes many of us are totally in love with those two and we will never give up on them.
As for Alex and Izzie, I loathe them more than any couple in existence, this happens and I am no longer a Grey viewer.

I used to LOVE Grey's, even though I found the music so unbelievably annoying I would mute the show... but so much time has passed, and now I really don't care anymore. Enough already.

The show lost me last season. The only reason I stayed was because I fell head over heels with Gizzie as my name indicates. They were the one ray of hope, the one breath of fresh air for me. My colleagues and I would go home and listen religiously to all the Gizzie scenes and rewatch them a hundred times. We were all, and still are, obsessed with them. My friends by the way do not go on the Net, vote on polls or do panels but they bought season 3 DVD solely for Gizzie and watched solely for them and were as fanatic as every fan on the Net, they just don<t like the meanness and shallowness that reigns on some parts of the Net.
Shonda never saw all of us Gizzie fans, just the haters, and it is a shame because as much as the haters hate Gizzie, we love them a hundred times more, heart and soul till the bitter end and you do not fake this kind of unconditional love.
But she ignored us, betrayed us and humiliated us to make the haters happy, this is not something I will forgive her for.
Maybe she should read Grey matter and read the hundreds and hundreds of betrayed and hurt and angry Gizzie fans who posted and realized just how much we Gizzie fans love them.
I will not stick around to see Izzie go back to a guy who grinned cruelly as Denny was screaming in pain, a guy who bet on when Denny would croak, a guy who looked down on george as not a real man when George is worth a million Alex. o see her go back to a guy who humiliated and hurt two men she claims to love so much would kill Izzie for me.
She and Alex had sex, and they got boring after two episodes, they had no chemistry, and made me seriously grossed out and sick seeing them.
She and George were in love, you could tell by their every looks, touches and smiles and they had chemistry to spare, now Shonda wants to change that and she thinks the Gizzie fans will just accept that.
Well, she can go scr*w herself, I am not watching her crappy show again.
I also have stopped my subscription with your mag, between Aussiello the liar and the fraid who distorts all the pro-Gizzie letter to ridicule them when he rarely does post them and who celebrate when an entire fanbase is heartbroken and Shonda the gutless wonder writing in your mag, I have no interest in reading this anymore>

Not the "Gizzie haters" I hang out with (both in real life and online).
I have no problem with George's looks. I think that personality is so much more important than looks. However, I think that both characters' personalities took a big hit when this pairing was conceived.
First, George. For the love of God, he became an adulterer. You might think that it doesn't matter because you feel he was Izzie's soulmate, so those pesky vows shouldn't mean anything, but I completely disagree. I suppose I could have forgiven a one-night-stand on his part, but the way he treated his marriage and Callie was repugnant to me. I loved George early in the series because he seemed like an honest, caring person amidst all of the craziness at Seattle Grace. That disappeared when he hooked up with Izzie. I mean, he didn't even tell his mother, forcing Callie into an uncomfortable situation? I want the "real" George back.
And then Izzie. They portrayed Denny as the love of her life. One she was willing to risk her career to save. One whose death upset her so much she couldn't get off of the bathroom floor, and even after she pried herself up it took her a long time to function. Yet, in very little time (on the show the three seasons were one year, hence the time between her devastation and hooking up with George couldn't have been more than a month or two) she found another "soulmate"? Ugh. I didn't mind the drunk sex on her part, because when drunk inhibitions are down and she was still emotionally vulnerable from Denny. But creating a viable relationship about it? Ummm.... no. It cheapened everything that the character went through in the second season. Plus, her attitude about the whole thing made me really start to dislike her character.
And, honestly? I couldn't see any chemistry between them. At all. I much preferred Izzie's chemistry with Denny (as much as I disliked the "doctor falling in love with a patient" storyline). I loved George and Izzie so much more as best friends and wish they could have stayed with that.
The "Gizzie" people on this forum say that they have only seen the hate here, but what about the focus group (of "real" people) that tested extremely negative for the couple? Granted, my pool of real people is small, as I don't know that many that watch the show, but of the ones who do, I don't know of a single person who likes Gizzie.
And it's not that I'm rooting for Alex and Izzie to get together. (Really? Lexziepuke? How old are you, 4?) I actually wanted Alex with Addison (although Alex and Lexie sort of grew on me.) I just hate the George/Izzie romance so much on its own, without any other factors. This ill-conceived storyline was one of many reasons that I was losing interest in the show. Hopefully the show can move on and go back to being compelling television.

Maybe because people hang out with people who have the same tastes. Because everyone I know offline love Gizzie, more than love, are obsessed with them and rush to see every one of their scenes.
Oh so we are back to the 400-spammed panel.
400 people did the panel, 400 people out of the 21 million people in the US who watch.
I post on Livejournal where there are 505 Gizzie fans, not one of them knew about the panel until the ersults came out.
Not one of the 200 Gizzie fans on fanforum knew about it.
Not one of the 1050 Gizzie fans I know on Youtube knew about it.
It was posted on ABC, very few Gizzie fans post on ABC.
The Gizzie fans post on fanforum, on Tv-com, on Youtube, on BuddyTV, on Fanbolt, on George and Izzie community on LJ.
And none of my friends go online. We are 60 people at work who watch just for Gizzie and we are 60 people who all dropped the show when Gizzie ended, we watched for them.
My mom loves them, my husband loves them, my 15-year old daughetr loves them, my two sisters love them.
Everyone knows the panel was spammed by Gizzie haters from TWOP and ASBC.
And like I said it was 400 people.
A recent poll that had 1600 votes asked people if they loved Gizzie, check it out, the article that claims Gizzie fans are the majority and the result at the end of the article in italics:

ot only did 63% said Gizzie was hot to trot, 14$% said they had great chemistry but Izzie was trying too hard, 8% said they had potential and only 15% like this article said said they had none.

Oh and there was a second ABC anel and this time around, tons of Gizzie fans showed up and said they watched just for them, this time we were informed and the ersults were very different

You should also read Grey matter, 80% of the messages are pro-Gizzie there, the ratings went down when Gizzie broke up, oh and also read the Grey anatomy official mag (thelatest one where Gizzie made it into the top 10 hot moments and Alex and Izie did not), the message section where they say they have received SO MANY pro-Gizzie messages.
They claimed in another edition to have browse the entire Internet and said people wither LOVED Gizzie to death or HATED them to death, hence the highly controversial of this article
None of the Gizzie fans are claiming they are universally loved.
We are just saying it it 50-50, and if you really went all over the Net, you would realize that.
On places like here, the Gizzie hate is a majority.
On other places like the ones above, the Gizzie love is majority.
The people who do love them do watch the show solely for them, most of them do.
Those who hate them watch for other reasons so they won<t quit if they are together, not if the erst f the show is good.
We will though, I know more than 60 peoploe who have quit the show and I know many Gizzie fans on the Net who will quit if Gizzie is never revisited again.
The fact that none of your friends like them mean nothing, all of mine do and all the Gizzie fans I talk to on the Net tell me about how many people they know offline who love them.
When I bought the season 3 DVD, the cashier told me how she and her husband loved Gizzie so much, and we bonded because of it.
I know an awful lot more people that love them than hate them and we will never give up the fight.
I find Lexziepuke immature, but sibnce it was probably done in reaction to the Gizzard word, which is as immature, you have no room to talk.
Plus, Aussiello is an adult and he had a party when our couple ended, talk about immaturity.>
