Supernatural Creator Teases "Hell"ish New Season

"The season opens with some bombshells!" teases Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, who already jolted viewers when he sent Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) to Hell in May's season finale.

Season 4 (premiering September 18 at 9 pm/ET, The CW) opens four months later, when Dean wakes up with no memory of his torment. "What happened to Dean in Hell and to [younger brother] Sam [Jared Padalecki] when he had to be a hunter by himself will slowly come to light," Kripke says. "It gives us a nice opportunity for an internal struggle for Dean and for the brothers to surprise each other."

Katie Cassidy (Ruby) and Lauren Cohan (Bela) are both gone, but Jim Beaver and Steven Williams are back as geezer demon fighters Bobby and Rufus. Get set for a revealing flashback to the Winchester parents' teen years, an homage to 1930s monster flicks and a bloody Halloween show. — Ileane Rudolph

I love the direction that season 4 is heading. It sounds great! I like that what happened in those intervening months is going to be revealed slowly. Cannot wait!!!

um, is TV Guide experiencing a little amnesia? I mean, this isn't much more info than what was already presented back at the end of May in Kripke's interview...

c'mon Ileane... give us some juicy brand new scoop!!

As for Season 4, if Kripke sticks by his 'promise' made during the Con in L.A. that SN will return to its successful S1 roots for S4 (the brothers, the hunts, the classic rock), then hell yeah, I'm excited!!

(p.s. is TVG sure about the Sept. 18 premiere date? Read a while back that they want Supernatural to premiere the same night as Smallville, which according to a brief CW ad, was Oct. 2)

another p.s.... always love pictures of Jensen Ackles... even when they are from the set of My Bloody Valentine instead of Supernatural. oh, okay, close enough! hehehe. ;)

S4 is sounding so much better than S3 so far. Dean with an actual storyline (hopefully it's Dean's own) not involving food and sex, Sam's destiny being unfolded, Mary's secrets, (here's to hoping it involves both brothers)being revealed. I have a lot of hopes for this season Kripke, please don't disappoint like S3 did, though I must say the latter half of S3 was great. :D

One of the great, underrated shows on TV.

Any word on if we'll ever see Ellen or Jo again? Did Ellen just disappear after her bar burned down? Is she living a nice, simple, suburban life now? What happened?
Jo is a good character to keep in the background as well. Not popping up in every episode like Bella and Ruby, but once or twice every year or two wouldn't kill them.

I hope they tackle Sam this season enough fluffying around..And the SORRY in Home is explained and the Mary sl is about both but so far season 4 looks good ..

Lleane you are my hero!! Eric Kripke's fall tease made me all fluttery and super excited. I can not wait to have my Winchester boys back!!!

I miss Sam and Dean!!

(I was worried the whole Dean going to hell plot was going to totally suck. But Dean's lack of memory will be fun, I think)

I love Supernatural scoop any way I can get it but this is the same as the last time we heard from Kripke. And the date of the season premiere keeps changing on us, come on when is it REALLY? However much of a repeat the news is I just love that Tv Guide gives Supernatural the attention it so deserves. (Take a hint CW). Cant wait for it to be back!!!!

KInd of annoying that they aren't bringing either of the girls back. I know the female fans of Supernatural are way jealous of female characters but I am losing interest in liking characters and having them dissapear after one episode or season. One strong female that isn't evil that sticks around wouldn't be that bad of a thing would it? I think someone at Supernatural is a woman hater to be honest. I am not sure I will be watching season 4 without Ruby around to add flavor to otherwise boring episodes of the brothers arguing like they always do! Iwill settle for JO even.
