CSI Kills 'Em With Comedy

The May 8 CSI (9 pm/ET, CBS) is all about rubber chicken — and not the kind they serve at Vegas conventions. In an unusual crossover, Two and a Half Men creators Chuck Lorre and Lee Aronsohn and their writing staff penned the script for the episode. "It's called 'Two and a Half Deaths,'" reveals CSI executive producer Naren Shankar (who returned the favor by cowriting the murder-themed May 5 episode of Men). "And a rubber chicken figures prominently."

The story revolves around the death of a sitcom diva, played by Katey Sagal, who's so hated by her coworkers that when she turns up dead, everyone's a suspect. "It's more a case of who didn't do it than a
whodunit," says executive producer Carol Mendelsohn.

CSI is usually dark and bizarre, but this one promises to be "laugh-out-loud funny," according to Mendelsohn. "It's a murder mystery in the style of the great Columbo and classic detective shows that we all know and love," she says. "It combines the wit and insight of Chuck Lorre but with the style and coolness
of CSI."

As for the rumors that Lorre and Co. based their CSI characters on real Hollywood stars — like Cybill Shepherd and Brett Butler, with whom they worked on sitcoms in the '90s — Shankar insists, "Nope! Not at all. It's not based on anybody in any legally actionable sense." — Zoë Alexander

The Two and a Half Men ep was classic, so I'm looking forward to this CSI ep, eventhough I stopped watching the show on a regular basis last year!

Well, the CSI writers wrote a terrific script for Two and a Half Men; I should hope that the writers of TAAHM would do equally as well with CSI. Both are hugely popular and well written shows to begin with. I look forward to the blog.

I'm looking forward to tonight as well, though the rubber chicken has been bothering me since I first saw the promo last week. I've been saying - Huh?

I agree that 2 1/2 Men was GOOD - though hated losing RJ - and written in a 2 1/2 Men vein - SO I'm hoping that tonight the same thing can be said - written by the 2 1/2 Men writers but STILL CSI!

Should be fun!!

NPR did a really good story on this yesterday: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=90201505

Worth a listen. Apparently, some people considered some jokes in the CSI script to be a bit too slapstick, but Billy Petersen fought to keep them. Can't wait to see it!

Two and a Fraction was terrific but why kill off Robert Wagner? When I see him (and he looks great in those commercials) I then think of his beautiful wife Natalie Wood who was loved by millions. She was a classic beauty. Now there's crap like Amy Winehouse....what a disgrace.
I will DVR CSI tonight just because of the "Two" writing team. I don't usually watch this show. I never liked Georgia Fox one iota....she wasn't very attractive.

I don't know what to think about tonight's episode of CSI. I am curious about the rubber chicken. To Trombone: I guess you are a guy. Why does a woman have to be beautiful to be to your liking. She was good in the show. Remember, not all of us fit the looks of a model, except maybe model clay. I wonder what you look like. Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly is clear to the bone.

Shurrre it's not based on Cybill, Roseanne or Brett. I'm really looking forward to Katey Sagal's take on this one.

OMG, that was the most rediculous, boring episode and so not the CSI we love. It was totally embarassing,I kept changing channels and going back hoping it would get better, but NO it didn't. Please keep to the norm for this usually intertaining program.Don't waste the talent of the cast on anything like that again ,PLEASE
There is a reason that Segal person isn't on TV anymore,it was totally obvious on tonights episode (May 8th)

Tonight's CSI was fun. I like seeing the characters loosen up some. It would have been great for Archie to be a part of it though!

Katy Segal is a class act and it was great to see her.

I wasn't a fan of Jorga's character, but calling the actress unattractive is unnecessary, I'm doubting you are perfect yourself, trombone.

I must say I did not care for this episode at all. It just seemed so ridiculous and awkward throughout the entire thing, it was embarrassing and almost painful to watch.
