Episode Recap: "What Do You Go Home To"
Another week, another good opening scene. This one was both funny and insightful, as we got to hear each character’s first thoughts of the day ( I especially loved Brooke’s first thought: "Brooke!"). And Jamie’s little feet between Haley and Nathan created the picture of a happy family, followed by all their fun early morning spelling.
So then it’s time to get back to work. No, I don’t mean stop reading this blog and get back to work, I mean it was time for Lucas to finally get back to work, after a month at sea. He came back to a 4-8 record and a still-injured (but pretending not to be) Quentin. Skills had promised not to tell, but of course he’s going to discuss the star player’s injury with his fellow coach. This led to another cast for Q., as well as some harsh words from him for Skills. His accusations pissed off Skills, but on the plus side, it looks like Skills might finally get a subplot out of this.
When Quentin wasn’t mouthing off to Skills, he was either crying or kicking Nathan’s ass in a little one-on-one action on the basketball court. Nate was rusty as expected, but it was good to see him take some baby steps at a comeback. However, I think getting beat by an injured Q. crushed his confidence. I’m not sure what it will take to get Nathan back out there now. His bitter confrontations with Dan certainly aren’t helping.
Nate’s better half also took some steps toward a comeback of her own regarding her singing career, and with better results. It was nice to see Haley and Peyton not only working together again, but acting like friends again, without talk of Lindsey coming between them.
Peyton and Lucas were actually paling around again too, taking a walk and chatting. These two have such an easy rapport together – why can’t Lucas embrace that? Inevitably, the subject of Lindsey came up, and Lucas told Peyton that he doesn’t blame her for any of it, despite how she can’t help feeling responsible. Then he talked about Lindsey coming back to him. The way a creepy, obsessed person who’s in denial talks. Seriously, I think he’s a few steps shy of going up to New York and becoming a stalker.
At least things were looking up romantically for Mouth and Millicent. He gave up a good broadcasting job in Omaha ("a small market" – like Tree Hill is a big market?) for her. It was a big sacrifice for him, but I think it shows how much he values this new relationship. Naturally, he then got worried when Millicent was hesitant to move in with him. It turned out this wasn’t because she’s not as committed to him as he is to her, but because she’s a virgin. His no-rush "two beds" suggestion worked, and Millie was rolling her luggage into his place in no time.
While Mouth and Millicent will now be spending more time together, Brooke and Owen will be bonding less. Much less, as in they broke up. They’re so distant that Owen didn’t even appear on-screen! First we saw the end of Brooke’s one-sided argument on the phone, then his buddy Chase arrives and lets Brooke know that Owen won’t be showing up. The way they handled this breakup bothered me. I was liking Owen more and more, and this seemed completely out of character for him. He was jealous of Brooke’s new foster baby – before it even arrived? This is a man who went above and beyond when helping Brooke with her junkie friend, but the mere thought of a baby is too much for him to handle? He’s a man who helped convince Brooke to stand up to her mother; he’s a bartender who wouldn’t let her drive drunk; a guy who wouldn’t sleep with her when she practically threw herself at him in the back of his car. His character is the walking definition of responsibility – having him cut and run before giving the situation a trial run didn’t feel right. At the very least, give us a heated breakup scene with Owen saying he doesn’t want kids or yelling at her for not discussing this with him first. This felt way too rushed.
But hey, at least this no-show Owen fiasco allowed us to see Chase again, albeit briefly. He delivered Brooke the bad news about Owen and then said goodbye for himself as well, as he was taking off. But the fact that they made Chase a stand-up guy who says goodbye in person, as well as that lingering look between him and Brooke made me wonder if perhaps this isn’t the last we’ll see of him. I hope not, because Brooke (and her purple monkey) deserve to be happy. And finally she was, in that closing shot with her and the ill baby that she’ll be temporarily caring for. I think this situation will be a good test for her, but her friends are right: It’s gonna be so hard to give up this baby after she recovers from her surgery.
Brooke will surely need some help caring for this infant. And Nathan and Haley finally got some help after interviewing a long list of more too-hot nannies (the one male applicant seemed especially fond of Nathan). Ultimately, they turned to family and are going to have Grandma Deb help them out! Oops – I mean Nanny Deb, as she prefers to be called. Finally, Deb returned! She was only in the episode for a few moments, so we know nothing about what she’s been up to or where she’s been. It looks like she’ll be sticking around for awhile, so perhaps we’ll get filled in on her missing years in the coming weeks – hopefully there’s a juicy story or two in there. If not, I’m sure the inevitable Dan-Deb reunion scene won’t let us down.

While I also wish we had Owen actually present for the conclusion of his and Brooke's storyline, my guess is his absence may have had to do with the strike. I looked him up and he is working on a movie right now, so maybe when the show picked up production after the strike he wasnt able to continue on the show. I could be wrong, it just seemed like if they could have had Owen in the break-up scenes with Brooke they would have.

fist i have to say, good recap, thank u jennifer.i was so glad to see somethings hopeful(finaly!).i mean the nalye and jamie together, and they seemd so happy, and i was so happy for them.and then mouth and millicent, its good to see him in a good relationship,(again finaly).i think he deserves that.about owen,i should say i knew that they were going to cut him when they brought up this baby thing.but i just hope that owen or chase will be in the show for brook, although i think she doesent need either of them, and she will be happy with her baby, and i think she is gonna be a good mother.and about lucas i have to say:jeez man!i mean how a person can be this blind?!i know i already said this, but i should say it again,i wanna know what u think about it.if i was the writer i would make something happen to peyton(probably a terrible accident!)so then she would go in coma for a few months!and as far as i know, all these things can happen in one tree hill, cause it is filled with drama!im sorry,i know its crazy, but only a huge shock like this can make him wake up and think about what he's doing or how he realy feels.u know, they say u dont know the value of something u have and u dont apperciate it,until u lose it.he doesent consider getteing back with peyton even for one minute!and besides,he is not the character we used to know,he was forgiving, why cant he just forgive peyton?i mean u usually forgive the person u love.and beside that, she never said no,she just needed time to graduate ang get settled in her life.but i guess he took this answer as no.and i undrestand he doesnt want to get hurt again and he wants to move on and forget her,and he wants to moving forward with lindsay without even thinking aobout it or looking back and he is doing all this to get over peyton but i still think he is an idiot.because why woulg he want to get over her while she came back and said her true feelings for him and said she was sorry?it doesent make any sense.and poor peyton, she certainly doesnt deserve this.although, lucas is stupid and selfish(this season)i really hope they will end up together.they make a great couple.and im a huge leyton fan.wooo,i wrote too much, forgive me,im a new member and i really needede to say all those things.anyway, its good to see deb again.i cant wait for more episodes and, does somebody know that the sixth season suppose to have how many episodes?

First off i am very surprised that no one picked up on what Chase so sneakingly tried to slip in there on his heart felt good-bye to Brooke. He told her she can call him for anything and he listed a bunch of reasons why which now i forgot and at the end of the list he threw in HUSBAND...so i am thinkin that yes Chase will be back and maybe there will be a brase reunion..as for Owen he did get thrown off the show fast but i think it had alot to do wit the strike also but oh well and i was very happy that now everyone from the original cast has made atleast one appearance now all they have to do is show wat the hell happened to Rachel and i will be happy..and as far as Lucas and Peyton goes he needs to stop cryin like a little school girl and realize what he has right in front of him before its to late!!

The actor who plays Owen, Joe Manganiello, was not available to shoot any post-strike episodes this season, which is why his character was written off so randomly. I liked the return of Chase though. I saw a spark between him and Brooke that I hope they explore more of in the future.
Now on to the episode....
This Brooke baby storyline is just ridiculous. I can't get over that. But Sophia does play part of Brooke adorably, so it's hard to totally hate it.
I was glad to finally see Jamie interacting so much with his parents, and not Brooke for once.
I am so sick of this Lindsey drama, Lucas has lost all credibility this season. As much as I want LP together, Peyton needs to move on and quit putting herself through the torture. I get the feeling LP has been put on the back-burner until season 6, but by that time, who's going to care anymore? Lucas needs to snap out of it quickly.

I loved the opening sequence and I love that the first thing on Brooke's mind was Brooke but I was kind of expecting her to say baby. I'm glad that Haley and Peyton are being friends again and that Haley is getting back to her music.
Lucas still bugs with his denial and the scene between him and Peyton during their walk when he was all like I'm going to get her back Peyton was strangely reminiscent of the scene last season right after Brooke broke up with him and he was at Peyton's house when the lights went out. And we all know how that turned out. So that gives me a little hope that he will snap out of it.
Quentin gets on my last nerve and that slave comment to Skills was low even for him. I also didn't like how he ruined Nathan's foray back into basketball, I hope that Nathan tries again, hopefully alone.
There are definitely some sparks between Chase and Brooke and I wonder if we will ever find out why they broke up unless it was mentioned already and I missed it. Glad that Deb has finally returned, hope they tell us what she's been up to.
All in all a good episode, and I hope that Lindsey sets Lucas straight next week.

Overall a good show tonight. I loved the beginning and any scenes with Jamie are adorable. I also loved that little Jamie had more scenes with uncle Lucas and his parents. I am sorry, but as much as I love the actor, Dan, I hate his character. Everytime I see him I think about him shooting Keith and I just hope he dosen't become a part of their lives anymore. And Lucas. I just don't get it with him. I am glad to see Peyton is trying to move on. I hope they bring back Chase and let him get back involved with Brooke. I was sad they didn't show why him and Brooke broke up or anything.
And one last thing, PLEASE GIVE SKILLS A STORYLINE!!! I love him and he is way too good and funny just to be in the backgroung..I am sorry but I would much rather see Skills in a storyline than mouth..

Please give SKILS a storyline and explain why he and Bevin split. Make her come back to tree hill and put them back together again. The girl who plays Malissa is absolutely gorgeous and is a good match up for spikes.
LUCAS is making me mad, he is too stupid and is in denial. When will he realize Peyton is his sould mate?
Good episode overall.

jillybee - Bevin WAS back. she's married to Tim and they have a son Nathan. so I wouldn't sit around waiting for her and Skills to get back together any time soon.
glad to see Deb finally back. I'm assuming in the next few epis we'll find out what's been going on with her. now the only person yet to be explained is Whitey. what's he up to?
Lucas is possibly the most annoying character on TV period, lately. Peyton either needs to move on to someone completely new or they need to bring Jake back. not sure if October Road was finally renewed but, if not, perfect!
personally, I'm getting kinda sick of hearing how everything is Nathans fault in their marriage. I know his stuff is more recent but it's not like Halley's been this angel the entire time they've been married. I don't think they'll ever truly get back to being happy until she realizes and comes to terms with the fact that it's not all Nates fault. but I am glad to see them back together and, seriously, Jamie is the greatest kid I've ever seen on TV.
so much more I could add but this post is getting ridiculous.

I must be the only person that thinks Lucas and Peyton should not be together. As I have said before, we already have one high school couple still together from the same group of friends. What are the chances that there would be 2 or even 3 if Chase and Brook end up back together? I think Peyton and Lucas are good as friends. Plus when Peyton came back, she had not seen him for 2-3 years. She was and still is in love with the idea of Lucas, not the real Lucas, as he is today.
Also, I don't think that Haley is only blaming Nathan for their problems. I think she recognizes her part. However, what happened 5 or 6 years ago with Chris is not what caused the more recent problems.

This episode was really good.. it introduced some new storylines, like Haley and her music, Deb coming back!, Mouth and Mili moving in together, Brooke and her baby, and Luke and Peyton are talking again.
I feel bad for Quentin and all cause he really hurt his chances for a scholarship, and for what? He punched out some guy at a bar that made a little comment to his teacher (even though he drove Haley to tears in one of the first epidoes). The way he treated Skillz and Nate in this episode was very disappointing. He absolutely killed Nates ego and that slave comment to Skillz was just wrong, in fact i'm suprised the writers through that in.
But other than that it was a good ep, and does anyone know anything about where Deb has been? I really wanna know lol

I'm not giving up on Lucas and Peyton just yet, but if/when the reunion happens, it has to be perfect, and knowing this show, I doubt they can pull it off.
