« Survivor: China
Hello, I’m Still A Person!
It would be unkind of me to start tonight’s blog off with a rousing chorus of Ding-Dong The Witch Is Dead. It really would. Because you know, I’m sure Peih-Gee is wonderful person in person, but in the game of Survivor this was not readily apparent and I’ll not be surprised if in the coming weeks of post-show Survivor press we witness her invoking the Bad Edit defense. If there’s one thing we’ve learned through these many days in China, it’s that Peih-Gee doesn’t give up easily.
That’s what got her to one of the most important points in the game – the night we determine who will make final four. The stakes were high, not just because we’re so close to the end, but also because this week’s prize at the reward challenge was an overnight stay on the Great Wall of China complete with a meal. Who wouldn’t want to win this, right?
But as we’ve seen at almost every challenge where the prize was a local cultural experience Peih-Gee Starts in with oh-this-means-so-much-to-me- body language meant to guilt everyone else into letting her win. I understand that being of Chinese heritage, these opportunities may resonate just that much more for Peih-Gee, but that doesn’t mean she’s entitled to win them just because. So the post-losing sulking she does just doesn’t sit well with me. As in tonight’s crossbow challenge where Courtney apparently uninterested earning the trip outright chose Denise as the winner. I’m guessing Courtney’s strategy was based on the assumption that Denise would choose her as a companion out of gratitude and so it didn’t matter if she won or not.
Courtney played her cards right and Denise chose her and Todd leaving Peih-Gee simmering with resentment that easily boiled over when Jeff stirred her pot. “Hello, I'm still a person!” Waa Waa Waa. Meanwhile Amanda, also left behind, was the epitome of good sportsmanship. At least on the surface. But isn’t that where it matters most?
Back at camp, Amanda cleared the air with PG and laid the groundwork for a coup against Todd. Todd played right into the plan when he and Courtney came back from their fabulous reward and complained about the food. Not smart and really not kind at all. As a viewer, I was getting excited. How great would that be to see someone else besides Todd make a play that would turn the game on its ear! Go Amanda, right?
Things fell into place at the immunity challenge – a replay of previous challenges including that chicken fetus eating challenge – when Amanda and Peih-Gee were the last two standing. Amanda won the necklace. She had Peih-Gee and Denise ready to make a move but come Tribal council time, all of the Fei Longers voted the remaining Zhan Hu out 4-1.
What??? Why didn’t Amanda, Miss “I May Have to Think about Getting Rid of Todd,” vote against Peih-Gee? What about your big plan to get rid of the “backstabber”? Where has all the game-play gone? Make a move woman!!!
Now that that’s out of my system I have a few things to say.
Jean-Robert was right when he said Courtney was going to slide her way to the finals.
Denise is just one lucky woman because she’s not playing the game very well. She sat under the stars on the Great wall with two connivers who were discussing changing up the final three by dumping Amanda and what did Denise do? She walked away from the conversation and went to bed rather than jump on the chance to make it three days closer to the million.
Amanda is just as bad. She knew what had to be done yet she was too afraid to make the move. She may as well just crown Todd the winner and be done with it.
Peih-Gee. Honey, you played the game too hard. Congrats for lasting as long as you did.
Negative Nancy a.k.a. Courtney and Todd are well on their way to final tribal council which, if you weren’t paying attention, will be this Sunday. So plan accordingly for the three-hour finale and reunion show wrap up this weekend. I’ll see you then and in the meantime I’d love to hear your predictions for this season’s winner.

Watching diva Todd smirk during tonigh's vote reveal sealed up what has been the worst reality season ever for me. From that dirty dude from Big Brother to the horrible latin bean pole from Dancing with the Stars to last night's Tootie victory on America's Next Top Model I have had enough of pathetically executed and horribly edited reality shows. They all have become horribly predictable and boringly executed.
I pray to the Hollywood Gods that the current Writer's strike ends because the idiots producing reality shows have peaked...
...the sad part is we have a whole new bunch of reality shows coming up at the beginning of next year and it's apparent that the talent pool has been stretched too thin that even the usual strong horses have started to die a slow death.
Tonight, reality shows as a genre have finally jumped the shark. RIP.

Uh, what good does keeping PG do for Amanda when PG has Jaime, Erik and Frosti in her pocket? Don't forget that she probably would have lost Todd's vote as well.
Who's going to vote for Todd? Can't you tell that everybody on that jury is sick of him?

When Peih-Gee said she worked as hard as she could, all I could think was how she threw the challenge weeks ago with Jamie and thinking, "Not really." Still, I did admire her for trying to find some loophole that she half-heartedly thought might have kept her in the game. At least she and Amanda bonded a little while Denise, Courtney, and Todd ate well (well, maybe not so much) at the Wall of China. Too bad Amanda really didn't attempt to rally to have Todd voted off. I'm thinking Denise or Courtney will be next unless either one gets immunity. Come Sunday, I'll post what I'll think of the winner. Until then...

I keep seeing everyone say someone (Amanda) should have changed up the game and got Denise to vote for Todd and go to the final 3 with PG. WHAT?!?!?! That makes no sense. Todd is hardly guaranteed a win as he has pissed of nearly everyone while PG would get nearly every vote. The jury is made up of Zhan Hu and Jean Robert and James. Both those two will be ticked at their alliance for backstabbing them and aside from Frosti, who might vote for Courtney, the rest would vote for PG due to tribal lines. PG was guaranteed to win if she reached the Final 3 Todd wasn't so what sense does it make to vote out Todd and take PG to the Final 3?
In sum: taking PG= BAD taking Todd= GOOD
In an unrealated turn it might be smart for Amanda to get rid of Todd now to go to the Final 3 with Courtney and Denise but it had to be done in this order. Good move Amanda.

Denise had a point - if I'm in the final 3, I want Todd sitting next to me. I think the winner will be Denise or Amanda. I don' think anyone will vote to give the money to Todd or Courtney.

I agree with you davej, that Denise made the right decision. If she makes it to the final 3, she will win. Everyone on that jury hates Todd, and Courtney. Amanda might win....she isn't that much hated like the other 2. I wanted to slap the mess out of Todd because of the way he acted when PG was voted off.

Sometimes it seems like players (and viewers) don't watch previous seasons. You never take someone to the final two just because you think everyone else hates them. That's the mistake that Kelly made in season one when she took Richard over Sue. She thought everyone hated him because he had manipulated everyone the entire game. But the thing is, the jurors knew they had been manipulated and lied to. Jury members respect a player who is open about their dishonesty, especially if it lands them in the finals. The only time that really backfires is if they screw over a really nice person in the process. That's why Dreamz wouldn't have won against Yau-Man and ended up losing to Earl.
Think about it, if you were on the jury what would you do? Would you pick the person that was blatantly deceitful, but was not really targeted, or choose the person that kept that player in the game until the end? If Todd does make it to the final two, he is going to win.

During the first part of the episode, I was rooting for Denise. After the reward challenge, Peih-Gee had my loyalty. By the time it was over, I was on Amanda's side. Never over the course of a season have I swung back and forth so much between who I wanted to win.
All I really care about now is that Todd or Courtney do NOT win. While they annoyed me in previous episodes, their complaining about the food at the Great Wall really disgusted me. I really hope the jury was noticing their eye-rolling and ugly faces they made during tribal council. I was sick of it; I hope they were too.

I watched the very end where they show how the tribes voted, and Amanda did vote for Todd. The vote was 3-2 against PG.
I don't want Todd or Courtny to win but I think Todd could win unless he is up against Amanda. She might have a chance, but if Todd makes it to the end, I think he'll win. He played the game more than anyone else left.

I really wish they voted out Todd--not from a strategic viewpoint, but I just hate people who smirk and think their victory is in the bag.
And I REALLY wish the show hadn't become so obsessed with burring out Amanda's butt (probably the most beautiful in Survivor history). The producers have totally wimped out, fearing that CBS would get the book thrown at them by the prudes at the FCC. I hate it! Hate Hate Hate it! Will an inadvertent glimpse or two at Amanda's butt cheek throw our oh-so-moral society into total chaos? I hardly think so. Phooey.
I just had to vent that. Have a nice day.

Nope, sorry Reality Junkie. Amanda voted for Peih-Gee. It's even listed that way on the CBS website.

I'm so glad Peih-Gee is gone, though I would have been happier had they gotten rid of Todd last night. His smug attitude drives me nuts. I guess maybe they are keeping him around because they think the jury would give it to any one of them over him. But, whoever said that the jury might respect his scheming in the end is probably right, it's happened before.
PG and Amanda's conversation was hysterical. Did they say anything but "like?" I wish I'd counted them!
Why do they not even talk about getting rid of Courtney? She'd be my first choice to be outta there.
I love to watch the dynamics of this game. This year's crowd has one motto apparently, 'If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with.' They flip on each other like pancakes!
I really hope either Amanda or Denise take this. I'll be sickened if Courtney does, and irritated if Todd does.
I can't wait until Sunday, I love 3 hour Survivor nights!

bobby-j - That is exactly what I was thinking. I don't know why every season there are people who would rather go to the finals with someone who is "hated". In almost all of the previous season the jury votes for who played the better game, whether they like them or not.
I think first Denise and now Amanda have made a million dollar mistake. If Todd goes to the finals- he'll win it. Even though he's not my favorite, he would deserve it because he's done nothing but strategize and play the game the whole time (in my opinion).

Agree that if Todd makes it 'til the end, he's gonna win. And he knows it too with that smug look as Peih-Gee was voted off. He's the only one really playing the game, and the jury rewards that in the end. Come on, is the jury really gonna vote for Denise because, what, she's nice. She has no backbone. Or Courtney. What has she really done but ride Todd's coattails. Thought Amanda was one step ahead of Todd though, until she caved by not getting rid of him last nite. Gonna come back to haunt her.
