New Episodes Start This Week
Hey there! I just wanted to post a blog gearing up for the final episodes of Season 3. Just a reminder: "Ghostfacers" premieres this Thursday on The CW.
I also wanted to provide a link to a segment on TV Guide Network's hour-long, celebrity-driven show called Hollywood 411. It features Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff and Supernatural's very own Jared Padalecki. TV Guide's calling them TVs Sexiest Stars.
Since my day job happens to be a senior producer for TVGN (and the resident Supernatural expert), I'm actually the one that interviewed Jared at his photo shoot. It was the first time I ever met or interviewed Jared. I have to say he was great and really, really nice. He didn't give any spoilers away, but he did tell me that this year's season finale is possibly his favorite episode of Supernatural ever. Which is saying alot, since he was so freakin' awesome in BUABS.
If you want to see more of this photo shoot, Jared will be part of a special I'm working on that coincides with TV Guide Magazine's Sexiest Stars Issue. Look for that Sunday, May 4th on TV Guide Network.
We also have another special currently running on TV Guide Network. It's called Returning Favorites and talks about all the shows that are finally back on TV. It talks about plots and goes to various sets to visit the actors. Towards the end of the special, there's a segment on The CW which features Gossip Girl, Smallville and yes, Supernatural. In fact, TVGN actually visited the sets of Smallville and Supernatural in Vancouver. It's really quick, but still worth seeing. Look for this Returning Favorites special in the TV listings here on tvguide.com or check your local listings. Hopefully it's still running...
EDIT: Here's the link to Eric Kripke's great Q&A...

Tina, I converted my 21-year-old son to Supernatural recently and he converted a bunch of his friends.
However, he has now enlisted in the Army and leaves for boot camp tomorrow. He's asked me to send him recaps for Supernatural because he doubts he'll get to actually watch it. Since you do such a great job, may I have permission to print out your recaps/comments and mail them to him (along with my own thoughts, of course)?

Tina, long time no talk! I'm really glad you got to interview JP; you always do a great job with the recaps and you're a true fan! I'm glad it was a great experience. Everything I've heard about him from the conventions etc is that he's a great guy and really friendly.
Thursday can't come soon enough!! Alex

That's exciting news! I can't wait to see the specials and get my hands on the Sexiest Stars Issue!
One question, maybe you can help me out: who was the photographer who had the pleasure of shooting Jared?

Tina-
You got to interview JP at that photo shoot? Looking as we see him in the video clip? Oh my! How were you able to concentrate and ask coherent questions?

snowa - I don't know the name of the photographer that shot the stills of Jared. Sorry!

Redbird - Yup, I got to interview him. And I have to say I totally forgot to ask him a question because I was so flustered. It was my first time meeting anyone from the show other than Eric Kripke so I was kinda nervous. I think it was a good interview however. He was super nice.

His favorite episode ever!? Wow. I can't wait!
I don't get the TV Guide Channel so I can't see the Returning Favorites special, but I'm a long time subscriber to the TV Guide Magazine and I'm looking forward to seeing the boys in that issue. They are in the issue, right? See you on Thursday.

Tina,
I have a few quesions for you. Have you ever meet Jensen and do you think he's attractive, like you do Jared? I know you favor Jared/Sam more but sometimes in your Supernatural Blogs you say things about Dean or Jensen acting that puts Jensen down to build Jared/Sam up. Like in Jus in Bello you said Sam was able to recite the exorcism by heart and than you said "unlike" Dean in Sin City to me that was rude and sounded like something the writers would have some demon say to Dean. You know since they like to dumb Dean down to make other characters like Sam, Ruby and Bela look better. I took that as a he was stupid or something. Don't you like Dean or Jensen acting?
Don't get me wrong I love reading your Blogs and all but sometimes I see little comments that you say that doesn't do Jensen/Dean justice in the episodes.
I see it this way if Dean wasn't there to protect, care and worry over Sam and be there at his every beg and call the fans and Bloggers would hate Dean/Jensen.

SupernaturalDiva,
A similar discussion is going on at another TVGuide.com post.
I'll say this up-front: I really like Jensen. He's my favorite. That said, I have to disagree respectfully with your take. It's a simple fact that Dean could not recite the exorcism by heart. That statement isn't rude or belittling JA's acting, it's what happened. Dean's never been the book-smart brother, that's Sam. Dean has the street smarts. The brothers are equally important to the show, because I think most of us would agree that it's their relationship that we enjoy most about the show. Sure, some episodes feature one brother over the other, but you can't have the show without both.
In the link I gave above, please see comments by trishy23, AriGato, and metalligirl, who were much better at expressing the thoughts I have.

SupernaturalDiva:
1) No, unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to interview Jensen for my job. And to me it's not about looks (although both Jensen and Jared are definitely good looking), it's about talent. And both guys have talent in spades.
2) I think what a lot of people don't realize is that when an episode tends to favor one brother over the other, my comments (and the comments of the people who post on this blog) are going to reflect that. As for "Jus in Bello," what I said about Dean was a fact. It wasn't to point out that he was dumb. And did you read what I wrote right before the comment about Sam reciting the exorcism? I pretty much defended Dean and talked favorably about the scenes between Jensen and Charles Malik Whitfield. And here's something I said about Dean in "Malleus Maleficarum":
Other than me being annoyed with her [Ruby] for nicknaming Dean "short bus" (because apparently the entire demon universe can all agree on one thing: Dean's knowledge-challenged. Whatever.), learning about Ruby was cool, because of what it meant for Dean. It opened up the possibilities of what's ahead should Dean actually have to hit "the pit."
I’ve been doing this blog for three seasons now and believe it or not, I actually used to get overly criticized for being too one-sided in Dean's favor.
I do my best to balance my blog but some episodes/seasons tend to be focused on the boys in different aspects. So my blogs reflect that.
I’m a true fan of both boys’ acting and talent. They each have their strengths and we are fortunate to be able to experience both.
I hope you continue reading the blog because I enjoy writing it and I love reading the expert analysis that everyone comes up with on Friday. It's always so much better than mine.
Thanks for reading!

Tina,
THANKS for the heads up about the new epi! I would have expected JusIB tomorrow and may not have prepped the VCR. Thumbs up to you - but down to the CW for not making the new episode's arrival more apparent.
Too cool about getting to interview JP! I'll keep my fingers crossed that ya get the opp with JA too at some point. {grin}

OK. Interesting. I *did* hear a Smallville/Supernatural commercial on the radio this morning. That's a 1st for me, I think. Cool!
Based on that and what I read on the EK Q&A thread, I take it this episode will be a cross between Hell House and Blair Witch? That could be a fun ride!

That's cool...I hope you had a great time, and at least got a hug! After all the great blogs you've done on the show, you deserve one from both guys.
And I have read pretty much all of your blogs (but I gave up trying to read all the comments), and I don't recall you showing any favoritism either direction that I've noticed. That said, I'm bi-bro myself. I like them both equally. Personally, I think Bobby is the really hot one on the show.
I think you do a great job! Keep up the good work.
