Episode Recap: "In Which Addison Has a Very Casual Get-together"
Oh man, my heart just bled for poor Michael, Cooper's patient. Of course, most of us probably assumed his crush was on a young girl only to be floored when he came in with a beat-up face courtesy of his crush, Brian. Like Cooper, I thought Michael's bravery was astounding. Not only was he self-aware enough to realize he was gay at the tender age of 10, but he found the courage to share that with his skateboarding buddy for whom he pined! I was glad Brian came around in the end. He definitely handled the situation horribly but he was probably just as confused as Michael. It's never too early to talk to your kids about tolerance and respect!
So Cooper failed where Michael succeeded and kept mum on his feelings for Violet. I thought that was a smart move considering she was too busy trying to steal the urine of her ex's new wife! As it turned out, new wifey was not pregnant but was scoping out Violet. Maybe all Violet needed was to hear that she wasn't that easy to get over after all. I hope this closure helps her finally move on... and away from the pee-pee! Desperation is not a good scent on any woman.
I loved how the doctors banded together like the Scooby gang to solve the mystery of Noncrazy Crazy Girl. Addison was right to believe her — she wasn't making herself sick on purpose like her mother thought, she had some weird GI disorder. How many rare disorders do you think we'll learn about by watching this show? The possibilities are endless!
For someone who is so cynical, Addison has a lot of faith. Sure, she likes to put on the sour face but you can tell she wants to see the good in people because that's what she wants people to see in her. Someone who wants to be left alone doesn't go around hounding people for RSVPs to a party. She wants to be accepted and liked. I think the gang is starting to warm up to her. Violet opened up to her and, in the end, everyone showed up to her party.
Addison is getting to Pete! I like watching them like each other. It feels so real, so I know Tim Daly and Kate Walsh have some killer chemistry. Maybe Addison is Pete's second chance like the lady from Everwood said. That story was so sweet! The reenactment of their sexual positions was hilarious. It's good to know that love and sex are still possible to find at that age.
At the end we find out Addison may not be able to conceive a child. Anyone want to bet that Pete is the one who can help her with that? And I don't mean sexually, I mean holistically. I smell a storyline! Anyone with me?
I enjoyed this episode. There were some very funny moments. Sam thought the Arm & Hammer man was bald even though "it's really just an arm and a hammer." Dell yelled out "vulva" to Addison and Sam told him he needed new flirting material. I laughed out loud, I'm not ashamed to say!
So what do you think? Is this show hitting its stride? What storylines do you like most or want to see happen? Keep chatting and stop back next week for more antics from our other favorite docs. See you then!

I feel like the show is definitely starting to hit its stride. It's not totally there yet, but the characters are starting to gel as a cohesive unit.
I agree that Violet needs to either get over Alan or Alan needs to show up and let us see just how amazing he really is.
I'm loving that Cooper is getting more to do- and finally admitting, at least to himself, his feelings for Violet.
Out of my friends I was the only one who saw the Brian/Michael situation coming, but it was nice to see how strong Michael was.
I also thought that Naomi had already discussed the options with Addison and all that. Maybe she hadn't mentioned that there was a chance at her getting pregnant (those two last eggs)?
Definitely looking forward to next week.

I've really fallen in love with Cooper & Violet (minus her annoying obsession with her ex!). It was a surprise to me when Cooper admitted he was in love with her. Glad he didn't tell her, though. I don't think she's ready for it.
And I also thought Addison already knew her pregnancy chances! The "two eggs" sounded familiar.

I hate to burst your bubble but Crohn's disease is not "some weird GI disorder". There are millions of people living with this disease.
Other than that...I agree that the show is definitely getting better every week.

Ok, I am sooo over Violet. She was alright in the pilot episode, but now she's just gotten downright stupid. What's worse is that she's a therapist. I loved seeing "Edna" from Everwood on last nite's episode. Glad to see they've all gotten on new shows, I believe the first episode of PP Nina from Everwood was on there with all the men saying that the baby she was wanting was theirs (never did find out who the baby's daddy was though).
& also, has the blonde Chief from the hospital always had the southern-like accent? I mean I'm from the south, but her accent was a tad ridiculous & I don't remember her having it before.
I loved how poor ol Addison was making herself crazy with why no one had RSVP'd to her party. She needs her old buddies, bring on Callie O'Malley!!! She's not doing so hot on GA herself, course I loved Addi on GA.
I'm liking how they aren't making Cooper the crazy porn crazed guy he was in the beginning. I loved him last week with the girls (even though it was a little odd that the mother never knew he was out there with her children & that they were always gone for so long). Back to this episode...I also thought that Michael's crush was a boy. With the way that Cooper would say girl & her, & then Michael would repeat it back sort of but would leave out what sex it was. My husband thought I was a little too attention to detail...
Jeaniusisme...we have seen Alan. Met him in the GA/PP episode, where she met him in the grocery store. He ain't all that, Cooper is way cuter than him, heck, navel lint is cuter than him. & if he could have been with her for so long & then break up with her & then next thing you know he's married, chances are he wasn't that great to begin with, I mean hello...they'd been together that long & they never got married themselves???

In the GA/PP episode, Naomi said that Addison had zero chance of getting pregnant, then in this epi. Addi found out that she had a small chance, but not a good chance.

Harris4 and JeaniusIsMe,
llambis right. We met Alan (D.W. Moffett) in the GA/PP episode.
Count me in as another person that knew the kid's crush was a boy as soon as Cooper uttered "her".

Did anyone else find it interesting that the Non-Crazy Crazy Girl came in as a pregnant Jane Doe, and it was later revealed that her name was Rebecca? When Elizabeth Reaser was on GA, she came in as a pregnant Jane Doe, and it was later revealed that her real name was Rebecca. I just thought it was strange since the shows come from the same creator. You'd think they could come up with different names. . .

JeaniusIsMe, I too saw the Michael/Brian situation coming from a MILE away...when Michael first said "skateboard park". I actually loved his character for both his strength and his realization that both running away and jumping from tall buildings is LAME, LOL!!!
Violet is definitely a DEPRESSING character. And, again, for somebody who is a Psychiatrist (or Clinical Psychologist!?!) she sure needs to speak to someone about her attachment/ abandonment issues. Whenever she's on camera I cringe, although I did like her shirt last night, LOL.
I agree that I think the show is finally starting to hit the pavement with some steam...I've invested so much already, I'm going to stick with it for the long haul!!!

First I was the only one who liked Naomi and now it seems I'm the only one who likes poor Violet. I just love Amy Brenneman, I think she's funny and I kinda like neurotic Violet. Could she tone it down a little? Yeah. I'd love for her to be more 'consistent' and not have as many (or as frequent) "manic" episodes but I like her!!!
I confess, I didn't see the Michael thing coming until almost the reveal. I thought "oh cool, he's got the hots for a tomboy girl" (being that I never outgrew my tomboy phase either). But I was just as glad the kid turned out to be gay. It's nice for people to see that gay people don't come in adult sizes only. Way to go Shonda!!!
Also, was I the only who recognized Rebecca's "mom" as Nurse Shirley from ER?? I forget her name, Dinah-something. Weird to see her out of scrubs though! LOL! And where have I seen Rebecca...she played a nerd on some show but I forget.
Overall, great ep! I laughed my...head off with Sam and the "arm & hammer" stuff. I must say I wasn't digging Taye Diggs at the beginning of the show, but he's growing on me...he's funny! How long until his lovely wife makes a cameo! Us Bway peeps would LOVE to see that!
Pete & Addison -- HOT, HOT, HOT!!! That's her McSecond Chance at everything...go for it Addie girl!!!

Enough with Violet and the "ex" already. OMG I can't stand that story line. It's been drawn out tooooo long and I can't really believe that anyone would be pining for thier ex that badly for that long. It is making Violet look incredibly stupid. I cringe everytime they show her face because you know it's going to be some ridiculous conversation concerning her MARRIED ex. Otherwise, the episode was okay. Not appointment tv, but will watch since nothing else is on at that time.

thanks for the reminder guys- I don't really remember much from the cross-over.
I also noticed the heavy (heavier?) southern accent. I also thought that she didn't have it before.

The actress who plays Charlotte King (KaDee Strickland) from the hospital was raised in Georgia, so her accent is probably at least a bit real depending on how much her natural voice has changed since she left Georgia. I've noticed it all along.

ERSVUluvr: I knew I'd seen Rebecca's mom somewhere before. Thanks for reminding me! I think Rebecca used to be in Joan of Arcadia. She played Joan's younger brother's first girlfriend (not Grace). I don't remember her being so bug-eyed on Joan of Arcadia, but in that show she wore glasses.
You're not the only one who likes Violet. I sooo understand the "I want to know/I don't want to know" feelings Violet had regarding her ex's new wife. Also, for those who can't understand why Violet can't just get over it already, remember that in PP time (in which, if it's like GA time, 3 years of actual time equals 1 year of time on the show), she just found out about her ex's marriage about a month or so ago. Also, it seems like every time Violet starts to get past it, some reminder of her ex smacks her in the face (like the custom bike from a couple of weeks ago).
I think the chemistry on the cast is finally starting to gel. I hope it continues.
