Episode Recap: "Orientacion"
Welcome to Sona!
If you need fresh linens or wish to sample our salon services, ring the bell and an attendant will be right with you!
Not.
Man, this is one nasty, yucky hellhole. Having seen the second episode as well, I can tell you it gets a bit less foul, and (as I said in a recent TV Guide Talk podcast) starts to resemble just an especially dirty Motel 6.
This season premiere gave me a knowing chuckle at times, namely when the dialogue seemed targeted for juicy trailer/preview sound bites.
"Sona... is where they send the worst of the worst."
"There are no guards."
"What goes in... doesn't come out."
"They play Celine Dion all day there."
They have made the place seem so wretched, in fact, that if Michael doesn't get his "pretty" mussed up some — and quickly — I'm crying cop-out. I know Went is half the show's bread 'n' butter, but Michael is overdue for a bruising.
It's not spoiling much to say that (Spoiler alert anyway) Episode 2 somewhat addresses that issue. As Dominic Purcell told me in our recent Q&A, this season is about the bros being separated, that while Mikey is in the clink, Linc will get wrapped up in a "spy story" of sorts. Yes, The Company still has an unhealthy fixation on Michael, but as you will soon see, it's for a different reason now. As long as they do not try to sell us on the two conspiracies being intertwined and on them counting on Michael getting thrown into Sona all along, I'll go along for the ride.
Ouch, it just snuck up on me — the image of Bellick traipsing around in... well, next to nothing save for a film of dirt and palpable stench. Get used to it. He doesn't clean up too soon.
I know Mahone and Michael have their "issues," but it seems to me that if I was tossed into this squalid prison, I'd want some sort of "friend" on my side. Can't these guys get along? Just when you think they might, vastly different agendas will distance them again.
Will Sucre's dream come true? Did he survive the season finale to reunite at long last with (the original) Maricruz? Stay tuned.
And then there is T-Bag. He's one smart cookie, even in this strange new prison. Face it, the guy knows how these places work, and how to make them work for him.
We didn't get too much of the new folk in this episode, but there's much more next week. The prison boss is a neat character with a surprisingly organized administration in place. But next week, one of life's most basic necessities threatens to unravel all he has built. Quite interesting, in an "upper body tattoo" sort of way, how that all plays out.
Welcome to Sona.

Ooh, aren't you a tease?!? I'm just happy this show is back. I love that it started up the week after The Closer ended so I didn't have to suffer Monday night tv withdrawal. Season 3 is off to a good start, but you make episode 2 sound a lot more intriguing...

No offense Matt but I like to read the recaps to get another person's point of view on the show, maybe find out something that I missed while watching or confirm my suspicions of something that happened. But you basically hinted or let on to what will happen down the road or in next week's episode. What about the scratched faced woman who met Linc at the bar? Was it Sara that left the scratches? Or what about the man behind the wall feeding Bellick God knows what 'cause it's not chicken. Who's the girl outside the fence, is she working with scratch-face? Did you even watch it tonight? You watched it before the Emmys and forgot the content, didn't ya? Obviously since you have already watched the second episode.... Not cool Matt....not cool!

Ok, first of all after watching the 1st 17 minutes in mute, this was much better. I finally knew what everyone wasa saying (well, except for when the subtitles popped up). Poor Bellick, that was the 1st thing that I said. Ouch. He isn't looking too good. But I'm glad to see that Wade is still with us. I'll look forward to reading his blogs.
It is a bit strange to see Dominic working on the outside now. I saw the lady in the beginning applying her makeup, but did I miss something? Do we know anything about her except that she is involved with Sara & L.J.'s kidnapping? Also, when L.J. called, I knew it wasn't for a happy reason. I could just tell that something was wrong. Odd, he was just on The Closer a bit ago. Nice! 1 other thing, was that Sarah? Since she had her back to the camera, could it have been someone who looks like her? Maybe a set up (an even worse of 1 if that's what is happening)? Plus, since she is pregnant is real life, is she taking time off? I forgot what was mentioned here. Oh well, time will tell.
That prison is a scary ... place. We're savages! Yup. Is the man (Whistler) taking human flesh off of the bones of the prisoners who have died? It ain't chicken, that's for sure. Eww!
How ironic is it that Mahone comes in to save Michael during that fight? I know that he needs him, but didn't that just show Michael how bad he can be? Perhaps Michael will figure out that if they both get out, Mahone could turn on him @ any time. Plus, does he know that Tweener died? Maybe he'll figure out that Mahone killed him. I think he knows, but doesn't know who killed him.
T-Bag, he's working that man for his own good. I'm not even sure that He could survive in that Prison. Speaking of which - do we know what SONA stands for? I think I asked this after the finale & never figured it out. Anyone??
Anyway, if that is Sarah, we'll find out soon. Mystery woman with the scars? Who is behind all of this? Is it the company? Is the nun & the mystery woman the same person? I wasn't sure. Can't remember. I also am wondering what kind of clue the 1989 means. Perhaps it is so that lady knows that her husband is still alive.
Poor Michael. You've really gotten yourself into a jam this time. Stay tough!!
Til next week.

I'm pretty sure the woman applying makeup at the beginning was the woman who dressed up as a nun later in the episode.
Micheal knows that Mahone killed Tweener, he announced it on that video he made last year.
So, why exactly do they treat Bellick so badly? Is it because he was a former guard?

The woman applying makeup and the nun are two different women; one is latina and the other is an anglo brunette.

Can someone please refresh my memory on why Mahone is in Sona? I didn't buy season 2 DVD, I need money to buy it which I don't have.
But anyway, that Prison was very nasty. Poor Bellick, I hope he finds some sort of pants to put on soon. And as for that guy behind the wall.....I think he is the one that Micheal is suppose to break out. And I think the company is behind all of this. I think thats why they wanted Micheal to end up in Sona in the first place......to break out that one guy.
I wonder what that note that the crying woman on the outside of Sona said. And what was the deal with the nun or whatever she is has to do with Sona.
tonysgirl why did you watch the first 17 minutes of the show in mute? I hope it wasnt on purpose. lol. And according to Micheal Auseillo Sarah Wayne Callies, will not be returning back to PB after she has her baby. Hopefully before the season is over she will show up as a suprise.
Finally, Im going to keep saying this until we find out but.....WHAT HAPPENED TO MY SUCRE!! The last thing I remembered is that he was shot at the end of s2 finale, he was taking to the hospital, but he wanted a patch so he can find Maricruz. He better be ok. And the same goes for Micheal. I don't want to see my baby Wentworth all bruised up. But I still want to know.......WHAT HAPPENED TO MY SUCRE!!.....sorry for the yelling.

lizzy: when Mahone tried to steal Scofield's boat in the S2 finale, Scofield planted drugs and called the cops.
And you're totally right about the Company and the guy in the sewers. From the bad guys' POV its a great move: rather than keep trying to kill these brothers who outwit them at every turn, manipulate the brothers into working for the Company and use those wits for their own ends.
My favourite thing about the new concept is that they're essentially sticking the hero in a box with his entire rogues gallery and forcing them all to work together. It's like putting Batman in a prison with the Joker, Two-Face and Ra's Al Ghul and making them all play nice.

Finally..Prison Break is back. I watched the first 15 minutes a couple of weeks ago online and let's just say I was still glued to the TV.
Please, please tell me we don't have to see Bellick half naked for the entire season....My eyes are killing me lol.
Yeah..yeah..Sona is disgusting and vile..sort of reminds me of Mos Eisley.lol....I suppose that would make Lechero, Jabba the Hutt. It's nice to see a familiar face from The Wire though.
It was interesting that Mahone stepped in and killed the guy that had called Michael out to fight. In the end, I think Michael will end up killing someone no matter how hard he fights it.
T-Bag was hilarious as usual. Great to see him back although he gives me the creeps.

The gal with the scratches in the very beginning was also the woman Linc met up with in the bar, not the nun. I believe that's Jodi Lyn O'Keefe? (For some odd reason she kind of bugs me. I know, that's not fair. But I miss Sara!!) Remember, she tosses her hair, and he says, what happened to your face? Which struck me as completely scripted. But whatever.
This show, while I enjoy it, is starting to veer dangerously close to camp territory, which, as long as I remember that, I go along with the ride pretty well. Poor Bellick; I like him better when he's being all bad and gruff, and I'm looking forward to him regaining a little dignity. Also enjoying watching Mahone go through withdrawals; I'd love to see his meltdown when it happens, cuz you know it's got to.
And I'm curious about Whistler and the messages and how Michael is going to use his brains to get out of this mess- that's my favorite part, when he gets all brainy. Wish he didn't have to wear long sleeves all the time; he's got to be roasting. But it's either that or the tats.
Lizzybelle, I miss Sucre too.

Good morning everyone!!! PB is BACK!!! YEAH!!!
Ok, Michael has to break out Whistler... Whistler is somehow connected to the company... As with the note... And the woman outside of the jail saying "my husband's dead I wanna bury him, bring him out" and such, well she was wanting the note in his pocket... She has some kind of a connection to Whistler... (Well, in all honesty, I know what the connection is, but I'll keep that to myself...) I don't think it was the company plan to use the brothers till they escaped from the country and ended up in Panama, then it clicked to use them to their advantage... Thus pad man saying, "Just one will do, and you know which one"... That being Michael...
Lizzy: Sucre was stabbed by T-Bag with a screw driver, not shot, but still he was hurt... Just keep watching you'll find out what's up with him...
Belick in his drawers, is too much... ICK, yes, but heck, I guess it shows you the chain of command... The jail boss is a classic character... And frankly, instead of being worried about Michael coming to power in that jail, he should work with him...
Oh I have tons of theories on what's going on... I think that Whistler (being part of the company) was some kind of head or boss of that prison to begin with, but then they revolted (of sorts, what that guy that Linc was talking to said) and they threw him in the "hole" (for lack of better words) and that is why the company wants Michael to break him out... And the nun, dont know where she fits in yet! Scratch faced lady, I did get the scoop on her... But, thats for myself as well... I think she is just another tool for the company to get what they want...
Let's see, did I forget something... T-Bag... Still hate the man... Still gives me the creeps, which means, he is doing his job as an actor! I could kill that man myself... And frankly, Michael should give him that darn chicken's foot and take it to him!
Mahone coming to Michael's rescue was great... And I think those two are probably going to get closer... Cause I think they are all (Michael, Mahone, T-Bag and Belick) going to need each other to get out of there... But we shall see! Oh and Mahone going through withdrawls made me giggle as well!
Anyhow, bye all... Till next week! Or if I think of something else! JustMe

Yeah PB is back. Ok, I am being open minded on Season 3. I don't like to see Went pretty face get hurt. I was shocked to see LJ call his dad and say he was in Panama. That was a huge red flag. I don't have any theories as to why they want Wheeler out of soma but that guy must have done something to be in solitary confinement. I am real sad that Sara Wayne Callies may not be returning to the show. I know she had a baby but I liked her. I hope she can come back. I have to say that the one character to surprises me is Belleck. When I first saw him WOW he LOST a lot of weight. I can tell he is raising the bar with his acting. Now TBag looked all nice and clean?? I thought he would be more scruffy HAHA......ok until next week.

Matt Mitovich!! While I am psyched to see you are doing the blogs for Prison Break now, I have to say – of course the conspiracies are intertwined! That mute guy at the Company told Bill Kim how they were changing strategies and it was their plan to get Michael into Sona to break out that guy hiding in the walls – Whistler? Now they’re using LJ and Sara as motivation for Michael to complete the task; but we all know Michael’s only true motivation is Sara.
Hey JustMe!!!!!
So the message that that Latina wanted out of the dead guy’s pocket said Versailles and then something else; I forgot. I’ll look again tonight! But the same message was written on the note Bellick stuck in Michael’s pocket before the fight. It’s the same message Whistler gave Bellick earlier and he must be trying to communicate with certain people.
I feel soooo bad for Bellick!!! The poor dude; he has no clothes, he’s filthy and no one will feed him. What did that Whistler guy give him, rat meat? Ewww….. I really, really hope it’s not human meat.
Tonysgirl, they used a body double for Sara cuz she was still pregnant at the time of filming and unless you’ve been under a rock lol, you’d know Sarah Wayne Callies is not returning to PB. The woman at the beginning and at the bar with the scratches – no, we don’t know anything about her yet. But if you haven't kept up on casting notes, here’s a SPOILER ALERT – she works for the FBI and will be a love interest for Linc. Btw, I don’t think Sona necessarily stands for anything; I think it’s just the name of the prison.
I am sooo glad Mahone saved Michael from being stabbed!!! Mahone knew Michael couldn’t take another man’s life so he did it for him – good man. I think if it comes down to it and Michael is forced to kill anyone, I betcha it’ll be T-bag.
Hey Lizzybelle!! I remember you from last season – Afleetalex, I remember you too!! You know, I also don’t like Jodi Lyn O’Keefe lol. I just didn’t like her character in She’s All That and I don’t think I’ve seen her in anything else…. Who knows, maybe she’ll grow on me? Before Invasion and PB, I could not stand William Fichtner, but now I love him!
I can’t think of anything else, I’ll be back!
